To clarify some confusion - A Battery is not only a power source, it is also, according to Webster, a term referring to a battleship or cruiser, akin to an aircraft carrier. Makes alot of sense, in this case.
Let's not forget about Gun Battery. They are used to take down enemies with sheer power. To batter them into submission/blast them to pieces! Eggman uses these in most of the 3D games. (Ex.; Heroes, and the beginning of Unleashed.)
T-Man When I was 4 I barely completed the first zone as I had difficulties beating the boss...the spikes usually killed me...so getting here was really cool
I believe you are mistaken, as Hydrocity zone act 2's theme exists, oh wait this is sonic and nookles (eh, they're the same game and I'm aware you can have your own tastes).
When I was born (1993) my parents bought a genesis with the two sonic games that had been released at that time :) The music still gives me goosebumps and brings back amazing memories...
I was 6/7 at the time when this dropped. So many great memories of me and my cousins playing trying to beat this. Those were simpler time but man they were good days.
@@scringyboy9314 The two games I was referring to are Sonic 1 (1991) and Sonic 2 (1992). Of course we got Sonic 3&K later but my comment was referring to how I have had the Genesis Sonic games in my life since I was born. And my first memories involve playing them :)
there is a difference between music being good and it being underrated. *nerd mode on* Being underrated means that not a lot of people like it even though it is very good, and being good means, well that its good.
@@fatihseferkurt2258 I agree, Sonic's music in general plus his character/design are what's propelling the series (plus obviously the sales) The gameplay is decent usually but gets mid af going back after modern pampering Music holds up, seriously....Sonic 2 has tons of great songs too, Sonic 2 and 3+Knuckles are probably the best 2/3 soundtracks in the Genesis library tbh
I like to think that the limitations of back then allowed for more creativity, more effort to produce. Now musical limitations in a console don’t exist anymore, so most of the struggles, the effort, the creativity for the most part isn’t the same as back then.
I remember first time playing this getting to the boss, with that laser trying to get me, but each time he fired, the gap drew in. And I couldn't hit that laser! And I was starting to panic because the area was getting smaller and smaller! I was panicking more and more, 'Agh! How do I defeat him? He's going to kill me!' Then suddenly it exploded itself and Dr Eggman/Robotnik ran away, whilst I wiped the sweat from my forehead =P
Sonic the Hedgehog had amazing music. Even though the SNES had a far superior sound system, Sonic's music still sounds great. My Personal favorites are Hydrocity Zone Act 2 and both Flying Battery Zones.
The melody in this song was so high pitch when i was little I would try to explain to my grandpa how cool it sounded but he couldn't hear it as I think the pitch and frequency was too high for him to hear but he pretended to jam with me. Rip old man🫡
Whenever I listen to this music it simply blasts away everything else and all I can think about is when times were simple, and Sonic ruled those times. Perfection!
literally everything in this act changes the sound of the beginning it gives the best introduction to the song and the fact of using part of the music from the first act gives it the feeling of being a very good song
This track was inspirational man, hit all the right chords, and just made me wanna represent hard when ever I played. I actually looked forward to this stage just for the music and would prolong battles with enemies just to listen to the track, what nerd I was( and am =))
Smooth McGroove please do this one!!!! lol If you can you will floor your followers even more you already amazing but I know many would love to hear this. Especially you doing the first few seconds ^_^ it might be a challenge to do this one.
Important Piece Of Info: Everyone knows that the common usage of Battery is an electrical device which stores and releases electrical energy, but that obviously isn't the meaning used by Flying Battery Zone. A less commonly used definition for Battery is a collection of guns which are maneuvered and fired together as a single military unit. So a Flying Battery would be an airship equipped with a battery of cannons.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who prefers this over Mania's version, It's not that the Mania version is bad, it's that the high pitch in here is too good.
The fact that they used the limits of the genesis to make most songs in sonic 3 & knuckles is amazing. If you wanted to make a three note chord, you needed three seperate channels to do so. If you wanted to make an echo effect. Take the channel making the lead melody and make a seperate channel with the same melody, just pushed forward a little.

Could be using both definitions cleverly by that concept. A flying aircraft while also a power source station.... x3 god sonic was so awesome.
what if the flying battery was carrying valuable supplies to robotnik which made his robots able to go against someone like sonic?
@Emery Benson yeah, because battery’s are hard to break like ships
Thanks.
17 people were afraid to leave Flying Battery because the nightmare zone known as Sandopolis follows this zone.

Mania's version is ass
Same!!😃
Finaly someone who thinks of this✋
The drums in the Act 2 version change the entire feel of the song. Amazing!
Yeah i love the kick pedals in the intro
Flying Battery is one of the best Sonic musics
Best soundtrack in the entire game!
