Your Fridays are similar to ours: typically not a lot going on, so we have lots of time to work on projects and clean up (although sometimes we'll perform large upgrades to avoid down time for users). I also recently retired a NUC as well and swapped it out for a HP Mini. Thanks for the upload!
@andrewp.peters9726 no problem! nice thanks for sharing! You're right! We also do some patching but not for production systems. Oohhh the NUCs can no longer handle windows 🥺 but still usable for linux 😬
I just discovered your channel. Thank you so much for your content. Especially your extremely detailed home lab videos. I have been watching and absorbing all of your videos the last day because I want to work in IT. I am planning to go to college for it next year. I am 32 and have only done manual labour factory jobs my whole life. Moving from that to something like IT feels scary and overwhelming sometimes, especially at my age. So thank you so much for your helpful content. You’re really making a difference in people’s lives 😊
Wow! Thank you so much! Goodluck on your future schooling!! It really feels overwhelming but if you have the knowledge and you practice the skills, I think you'll be good. Goodluck again and keep practicing!!
reminds me... I need to go back and velcro all the wires for the new computers now that people have got settled in their new offices and moved their monitors and docking stations around.

Love your videos! I was wondering, is it common to have the ability to take home or buy decommissioned hardware, like the 7th and 8th gen NUCs? They pack some decent power in a small form factor 😅
Do you use any vulnerability scanning tools in your environment? I was luckily enough to get management to purchase Tenable Nessus for us. I love it. Helps a ton with visibility for software and firmware updates.
Thank you for the video. Do you have software and OS distribution for your FAT clients? If so, which product do you use? How do you handle the updates for Windows and third-party products? Many thanks and best regards from Switzerland
We only have a few 8th gen NUCs like 10 of them and we had to replace 100s of computers. Plus even if we do a workaround for 7th gen, it's not best practice and it's gon a cause tons of security vulnerabilities and our Security team won't be happy. We will end up doing more work to remediate those and it's not worth it. If we do upgrade projects like this, we plan for months or years. It's not like we're doing this on the fly just buying computers
Oh nice! How do you like it? Yes we make our own custom image depending on what type of machines too. We have edit machines, and for different departments
@@EastCharmer Awesome! I don't know much about Intune just read about it but haven't configure it or used it on a live or test environment. How do you like it?
yeah it's doable but not best practice in a business setting. It's gonna cause issues with updates, drivers and compatibility and our corporate security team won't be happy about that
I really love watching your videos. I feel like I learn so much!
Thank you! Glad you liked them! My goal is to be as informative as possible
I love your Tech videos, you are very smart and keep up the great work and more videos @East Charmer.
Thank you so much!! Appreciate it!! Will do my best to do more!!
This is Great. Nice Job
Really proud of you.

A day in life of sysadmin - watching other people working in IT on YT :D
I can relate lol
I just had to set up and image an Elite Mini today :D
👍
That mini PC is more powerful than our office's 3 big desktops combined.
Anyways waiting for windows server videos 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Yes that is pretty common when you're working in IT. I've taken a lot of decommissioned hardware already for my home office lol
Nice video. What do you do with old hardware please ? can i buy some please?
Intel NUCs are already a retired Intel product and the rights to the "NUC" brand was recently acquired by Taiwanese PC manufacturer Asus.
Yeah Intel discontinued it
Hey ...What do you do with those old nuc pcs??
Do you use any vulnerability scanning tools in your environment? I was luckily enough to get management to purchase Tenable Nessus for us. I love it. Helps a ton with visibility for software and firmware updates.
Oh yeah we use tenable as well. I love it too. So easy to use too
Pwede hingin yung mga outdated mini PC nyo para maka gawa ng home lab at mka practice din
What do you do with the decommissioned hardware?
They would become an awesome homelab.
We usually recycle or donate them. Sometimes I ask permission if I can take it home lol
I see that your screen is .2861 . If you update for PC at work, last version for windows 11 2023 update, is .3880

You're welcome! Yes, we currently use SCCM but since it's been EOS or EOL, we are planning to migrate to Intune in the future

I'm waiting to see what happens with Intel 13th and 14th gen.

You had a 8th gen Intel NUC, you can upgrade it to Windows 11
You can also install Windows 11 on a 7th gen without TPM with workarounds
