If you use up all your pistol ammo in a firefight and you have ‘access’ to somebody’s mp5, good luck taking the time to adjust it - not saying that’s what is happening here but sometimes you have to use what’s available under pressure and not YOUR kit.

(see real compition shooters who run, shoot around barriers etc under the clock) spraying bullets all over the place as opposed to controlled pairs or double taps is a good way to run out of ammo and not hit any of your targets as for mp5 et al, hardly any agencies use pistol calibre carbines any more, instead using the .223 carbine or rifle

Cheek weld would be impossible when wearing large gas masks so they used sling tension to handle recoil. It's a very effective method for lower caliber weapons where the recoil is manageable without stock.

Well the RSM of 22 SAS Peter Ratcliffe called him a flowerpot man and didn't think very much of his soldiering during Gulf War 1 . Radcliffe who wrote about Yorky being scared and running into ditches in his book eye of the storm has some weight behind him. He was RSM of 22 SAS, which few ever reach, and also a highly decorated solider who had fought in many campaigns. He thought Yorky was a plank and seems from this RUclips video so do a lot of other people!

@Artsie R You need to read some regimental history. Passing selection is not a Guarantee you will react correctly in operations. Selection is a good method of cutting the grass but some weeds do get through and get cut out later. Don't forget that RSM Ratcliffe replaced an SAS officer in the field because he could not hack it. Of course Muppet is relative. He was a Muppet in relation to the job as a SF solider in theater of war. I suggestion you read Ratcliffe's book. Its an amazing read and not sensational, you can tell its much more the real story as he does not have a body count of 200 when under contact.

You can see him using the mp5 under sling tension instead of using the stock even though its extended. That's the CQB style of old school SAS/ other SOE groups.

They were the pioneers of modern day CQB or CQC. Just look at how they smashed operation nimrod. The iranian embassy siege. Read into the specifics of what they did. They executed the modern day version of a stealthy assault. They used concussion grenades to mask the sound of their explosive breach on the windows so that even though they were storming the building, the enemy didn't know what part they hit. (This did have a slight fail due to their team leader getting caught in his rappelling rope and got burned, they couldn't blow the windows properly so they had to smash em though)

An old SAS tactic called Sling retention. They use it to look down the sights of the MP5 or the relevant variants of MP5 when they wear a gas mask. They cannot correctly shoulder it while wearing a gas mask. However it was poorly executed and I'm not at all saying these fools are SAS. There is one of them who is supposedly Ex-Sas but I cannot confirm that. But the rest of em are dumbasses

Using the mp5 like that doesn't make sense, you'd either use the stock in the shoulder, or you'd use the 3 point sling and push the tension forward to handle the recoil.. my guy had the stock out and a loose sling 🤣

Because he's using the sling method. SF often wear respirators so which get in the way when using the stock so they adapted this method, which also addresses the recoil issue you mentioned.
