I got a reply letter from Martin Scorsese about 1994/5. I was wanting them to read my screenplay. It was a ‘thanks but no thanks’ letter but kind and generous and kept me going. Having received quite a few ‘no’s’... I shot it it 1997. World’s first digital feature I think. It won ‘best of the fest’ at ReelHeart IFF, Toronto in 2005. Yes it took that long. I’ve always tried to be kind and supportive of other filmmakers, we are all in it together, it’s what we do. Scorsese is a gem.
@@davidunderwood1773 I'll see if I can send you it..It was initially called 'Fluffy Little Bunnies'.. then changed to 'Bad Day'.. as some people were mistaking it for a 'Disney' film..There's a few teasers.. on my site here...many years back. I have recently taken it down and am tweaking the colour grade. Then I'll put it up wherever I can. Send me your email and I'll send you the 2005 version. Cheers, Dom.

Martin's mother seems like a lot of fun to be around, that whole bit felt like being warmly welcomed into a friends house and being included into the family
What I love about these commentaries on writing, is that not all of the advice is about writing itself but is philosophical. Like Scorsese's comment, "Use projects to learn more about yourself and the important life questions". Subscribing.
Really love scorsese films, but never taken the time to look into his filmmaking process in depth ! I really loved the genuine insight i received from this my friend !
That is a really amazing selection of tips from one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Number 2 is great, I would never guess Scorsese would go out and promote himself shamelessly, it doesn't fit his character, but I guess in the beginning everyone has to promote themselves if they want to succeed.
Gotta love all the old Charlie Rose interview clips, little did Marty know the guy interviewing him was as--if not more--monstrous than the gangsters he was putting in his films.
@@thepedestulz you’re welcome! We just came out with our first trailer for the script I wrote! Check it out!:) We used a black magic!:) ruclips.net/video/1JOpWEMaPNQ/видео.html
What can I say . I have seen I believe everything Martin Scorsese has made . Super interesting watching his directorial film journey and how it has evolved. He most certainly goes down in the history books as a Master Craftsman who has developed a signature especially in his favorite genre of film . I understand in a large way of what he means about coming from working class and things he saw or knew about growing up . I am a fellow New Yorker who has experienced the same . Th e stories are very real as well as the people in his movies . I am just looking forward towards more of his work .
Always dark in the lower east side probably because the tall buildings block sunlight? I assume that's what he meant but the interviewer wasn't even listening and interrupted him to ask the next question. But blocked natural light from buildings is a very underrated reason why living in the middle of cities can be very depressing
I like number 3 and number 9 Music and movies do go hand in hand.I do think the film industry probadly does need to have a new system because how many more remakes and reboots of the same thing all the time.

I says to myself, "I'm gonna be smarter than him." :D
Can we have Martin play Enzo Ferrari in a biopic?
Justin Thomas
There seems to be more tips for directing than screenwriting in this video.

Except Marty doesn't write most of his scripts.
Martin Scorsese is slowly merging into Woody Allen.
