Anakin would have been angry at Bariss for betraying the Jedi and Ahsoka. However, he did the same thing but on a massive scale, so there is no reason to hate Bariss if he did the same thing but worse. Despite this, the true reason is that Vader is detaching himself from his former identity as Anakin Skywalker, especially with the personality of what and who Anakin likes and hates. Sidious "advises" (orders) Vader to do this and threatens him with "death" and torture if he does not do so. Fans who really want to have an idea of what Vader is thinking at this point should read the Darth Vader comics where he is hunting Jedi and even supporting the Empire's invasion of Mon Cala.
Well, this is just business for him. Also you could say that maybe he was glad she made Ahsoka leave. It was Anakin who went to check for his padawan, Vader wouldn't have gone there in person if he didn't care. Also in rebels, before fighting Ahsoka, he tries to turn her to the darkside.
It seems as if everyone has forgotten this part about Vaders character, he has always tried to distance himself from his past life and try to forget about it which is why he always refers to Anakin as dead, if he ever were to see someone from his past life he would never say about it out loud or tell them that he was Anakin or something, there was only very VERY rare moments where he would reveal his identity in the comics but other then that he would not say a thing. He may internalise in his mind, yes. However he would not act on it, I feel like peoples expectations for Barris and Vaders meeting were too high If he was so un reactive to Ahsoka then I doubt he would be to Barris.
@@aaronmiles2802 There are plenty of things Vaders holds grudges against that were previously Anakin's. Slavers, Tattoine, and Obi Wan. Lets not forget Vader even trys to let Ahsoka join him, I feel because that was apart of Anakin comming out.
@@SupChad735 Firstly, he never intended to have Asokha join him. Filoni confirmed that it was a ploy to have her lead him to more Jedi, particularly Obi Wan. He was going to kill her in the end, especially as Palpatine would have never allowed her to live anyway. Secondly, the other things you mentioned are subconscious, he actively tried to repress them. Addressing Barris would be him effectively consciously acknowledging Anakin’s past, he’d never do that purposefully. I don’t think you fully grasp how far Vader wanted to actively push away and repress the memory of Anakin, it’s why Luke was the only one able to bring him back. Everyone else is a product of the past failures of Anakin. Luke represented the potential for something new and not “tainted” by Anakin’s life, yet he was still intrinsically tied to Vader.
Don’t usually comment, but Vader did try kill Ahsoka in Rebels when they meet during the worlds between worlds. He was angry with her because she left when he needed her the most. He probably just didn’t care anymore in this scene
Crazy that her story had nothing to do with Vader, or with her trial/ speech which turned the Grand Inquisitor against the Jedi, or anything to do with Luminara on the Spire… I think it would have been ten times better if she died trying to save her old master, who would turn out to be mummified.
Personally, I never thought Vader would 'talk' with Barriss. But make her life miserable? Yes. That's what I was expecting. And maybe her helmet was off as another test from Palpatine. To see if Vader really killed Anakin and take his life as a sith seriously.
The way I read it was that Darth Vader was distancing himself from Skywalker. To admit his link to Barriss would be to admit Anakin is still in there somewhere.
I imagined Ahsoka and Barris fighting. Then Ahsoka gets Barriss on the ground pointing her lightsaber at her and speaking. you were my best friend Barriss, I can't understand why betrayed that. but I do owe you thanks for opening my eyes and leaving the Jedi order was the best thing I done. She turns off her lightsaber. if you want to kill me then go ahead but I forgive you. turn around and walk away.
it's probably to show that there's some good with Anakin there, as padme said, if vader was that ruthless, he would have barriss terminated on the spot, that thankfully he _chosen_ not too.
It also adds to the fact that he seemingly kept giving the Inquisitors in Rebels Second chances which is very rare so i feel like even then Anakin had some compassion left 'Not to say he still isn't a monster but still i consider those times in Rebels a rare time he shows mercy"
@@riley-dv8eu yeah he would've giving Ezra the same fate as he did to those jedi younglings, yet he didn't which is a sign that there's some good in him still, at least he would've if he wasn't interested in asking him how he activated the sith temple and all.
I think that when Darth Vader saw Barriss he remembered who she was and what she did and he didn't want to remind her and himself of it that's why he didn't say anything.
I was glad they didn't make a big deal of it by featuring the two in the same room, though i do wish we could have had atleast one line like "Well, well Barriss Offee i have kept track of your reputation, you will be working under direct orders of your superior Do Not Disappoint me "Or something among those lines"
Vader didn't like admitting to being Anakin anymore, as evidenced by one of his encounters with Thrawn, who figured it out. If he interacted with Offee, she would have realized he knew her, and started trying to figure out who he was, potentially finding the answer. There were only so many force users who would know her and be of Vader's caliber, after all.
The problem with TOTE is that it did not shown Bariss as fallen Jedi or even internaly struglling. At the beginning she is really concerned about Jedi Temple being bombed, like she hadn't done same thing some months before. Later she is ultimately optimistic of new duty as inqusitor, believing in keeping order and helping galxy citizens and even 'traitor' jedi to find right path. I wanted to see 'Wrong Jedi' Bariss that was ruthless, determined and fanatical reather than schoolgirl that accidently joined gang.
Barris is literally a slave of the empire, one does not ‘stop being an inquisitor’ without being hunted down. We see this in the show. I guarantee the Inquisitors were not intended to be kept around forever. When the emperor was confident all the Jedi had been dealt with- they would’ve been dispatched of. If anything Vader would be amused that Barris ended up in this position- there’s nothing to say, he holds all the cards.
I agree with the video. That was Anakin's life and he wouldn't tell people who he was. We know what Vader did to people, namely imperials who saw him without his mask on. Despite Anakin's resentment towards Barris he wouldn't show it. That makes a lot more sense that he was plotting something instead.
Ok, if Barris fought Anakin Skywalker knowing who he was, wouldn’t Barris be able to feel Anakin through the force? Or maybe not because now Anakin Skywalker has succumbed to the dark side? When Jedis fight and know each other then they can feel each other through the force? No? Yes?
Vader doesn't want to reveal his past. No one but Tarkin, Palpatine, and Thrawn know he is Anakin. If he were to ever reveal himself to Barriss or take revenge, she'd know who he is. Secondly, Vader does NOT know that Ahsoka is alive. It's why in Rebels, when they first encounter each other, Vader says "So...the Apprentice lives" because he has now found that out himself.
Yeah I doubt he cared one bit…everything that happened between them is non existent since he’s Vader now. They might as well be meeting for the first time.
Don’t forget about his master he wants to make sure his apprentice doesn’t ruin any potential assets plus the grudge between those two would be dead especially since Vader considers Anakin gone
I think there’s an aspect of hate that Vader has towards her. I think he stayed silent because he couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge her existence. Even though she has now joined the same side as him, he probably still has a lot of pain and anger because of her. Essentially she was the reason him and Asoka got separated. I think he just stayed silent because he literally did not care about her. Or he was fighting back the urge to kill her.
Vader is no longer Anakin. He has no interest in connecting with Barriss. He sees her now as a servant of the empire, and a servant of him. He is only interested in her obedience and her ability to carry out his orders.
No. He didn’t say anything because he had nothing to say and it would reveal he was a pathetically weakened Anakin. This doesn’t require a 10 minute essay
It should’ve been like every episode is a whole new story with new characters that spread out at different points of the empire….like one episode with Boba Fett getting his first contact/bounty from the empire….Commander Cody goin to Tattoo to hunt/reunite with Obi-Wan…..Boba facing off the darth vader etc
Aside from the "they/them" debacle, tales from the empire was fantastic. Could they have covered better charicters? Sure. But you got to admire Dave Faloni's animation team. My biggest complaint was run time. I wish these episodes were full-length and i wish they covered more of the backstory of the Fouth sister, i like the charicter despite having little appearances through out the saga.

I was kinda expecting a threat, atleast a warning
Same
Same
Why would he? That was Anakin’s issue with her, not Vader’s.
To see if Vader really killed Anakin and take his life as a sith seriously.
we need a full show about barris. the shorts didnt show enough.
The way I read it was that Darth Vader was distancing himself from Skywalker. To admit his link to Barriss would be to admit Anakin is still in there somewhere.
Could it be that the dark side was radiating so strong that she was cowed and he just let it stay quiet and fearful?
They both sensed each others presence.
Barista Coffee. Wow such creativity. Well done Disney Star Wars
He wasn't vengeful against Osoka, just Obi-Wan. I think Vader would have more or less put her under him to be his secret sith apprentice
How do you expect the man to react if he's got only seconds of screen time
I imagined Ahsoka and Barris fighting.
It also adds to the fact that he seemingly kept giving the Inquisitors in Rebels Second chances which is very rare so i feel like even then Anakin had some compassion left
'Not to say he still isn't a monster but still i consider those times in Rebels a rare time he shows mercy"
@@riley-dv8eu yeah he would've giving Ezra the same fate as he did to those jedi younglings, yet he didn't which is a sign that there's some good in him still, at least he would've if he wasn't interested in asking him how he activated the sith temple and all.
Tarkin also recognised Vader from his fighting technique in the Clone Wars and Vader had to brush that aside as well
I think that when Darth Vader saw Barriss he remembered who she was and what she did and he didn't want to remind her and himself of it that's why he didn't say anything.
Why would he speak to her? He rules over her, and of course that was a different life that he doesn't care to speak on.
Also, when was the comic on the “lose” comic where Vader cut off hands or legs?
I was glad they didn't make a big deal of it by featuring the two in the same room, though i do wish we could have had atleast one line like
"Well, well Barriss Offee i have kept track of your reputation, you will be working under direct orders of your superior
Do Not Disappoint me
"Or something among those lines"
Easy. They wanted to lure fans to watch the show but couldn't afford James Earl Jones.
Nor his AI-replicated voice, apparently.
Which is totally OK with JEJ himself - _'cause he gave all the blessings for it, mind you._
👀 Nice video explanation. I fully concur with these statements. Great job man.
I thought it was quinlan voss she knew tbh
She aged like a tomato 😂
Vader didn't like admitting to being Anakin anymore, as evidenced by one of his encounters with Thrawn, who figured it out.
If he interacted with Offee, she would have realized he knew her, and started trying to figure out who he was, potentially finding the answer. There were only so many force users who would know her and be of Vader's caliber, after all.
It's simple... Vader doesnt want Baris to know who he WAS
She indirectly one the reasons why he fall to the dark side.
*Execute order 66*
ashoka: im no jedi
Clones/Rex: Understandable have a nice day.
ashoka: ....phew
I agree with the video. That was Anakin's life and he wouldn't tell people who he was. We know what Vader did to people, namely imperials who saw him without his mask on. Despite Anakin's resentment towards Barris he wouldn't show it. That makes a lot more sense that he was plotting something instead.
I hope she's still alive and we get stories to fill in the gaps between her leaving the inquisition and Lynd finding her.
Ok but he probably recognized several of them?
He might have been the one who recommended her as a candidate.
I don't really have a problem with Vader's reaction here, but I am disapointing he did not playba bigger role than just a cameo.
Honestly she should've became the new grand Inquisitor and chilling with thrawns forces waiting for his return
He feel her energy
Yeah I doubt he cared one bit…everything that happened between them is non existent since he’s Vader now. They might as well be meeting for the first time.
Don’t forget about his master he wants to make sure his apprentice doesn’t ruin any potential assets plus the grudge between those two would be dead especially since Vader considers Anakin gone
Vader stared her down to be defeated. She felt his power and hid in her helmet
Guarantee she could sense who Vader was. Just like Ahsoka did.
Would have been cool. Instead it was a useless cameo for bait.
Bariss is a connection to Anakin and there's few things Vader hates more than anything that reminds him of Anakin
Wrong wrong wrong. If he approached her he would give away he is anakin skywalker😊
whats the name of this series
Because Darth Vader has done far worse to his loved ones and knows that he has no right to judge anyone but himself.
Naw I don’t think she met Ahsoka, the friend she was referring to was most likely the woman she saved in the previous episode
Because James Earl Jones has retired as Vader?
Disney bought the rights to generate AI Vader voice using JEJ’s prior work
Yes but he sold his voice to Disney so they can use his voice without James Earl Jones
The physical actor may have been retired, but his iconic voice has now been immortalized via digital means.
_Disney acting chickenshit, perhaps?_
