      Same, I rarely look at my art and think it's good. A few things I have been proud of but not many. I mainly draw in like, cartoony, doodle style but if I'm not going to give it to anyone I know I tend to try and trace somethings but I change the designs on it or I add things sometimes. I feel I do better with that and I hope that I can draw them on my own in the future. If you have fun in the moment with the drawing and art then that is all that matters.

I just get frustrated if I don't get it right so having done one via tracing which looks good I worry less with the one I try to make without tracing. It's just if all I see is what I deem a failure I will get disheartened and give up. If I can see one I drew by hand even if it is via tracing and is good then I can feel less like I have screwed up everything. I don't always draw via tracing. I do do stuff from my mind and from references without tracing. I just get more disheartened if I don't.

      @@that1confusedfox435 if you use art as a way to relax then I don't see tracing as bad thing. But if you want to improve practice drawing shapes and look at the thing you want to draw from a broader spectrum. Basically try to fit it in a shape and use measurements and shapes to guide you

    • @that1confusedfox435
      @that1confusedfox435 Год назад

      @@zclaudteoriasdbs7964 I do try to. I mainly draw for relaxation but if I want to draw something from a reference to get better or try new things (which is rare but I do try and not trace since I do genuinely want to draw things without tracing) I will try to draw it without tracing and instead look at the image and try to follow the same lines whilst just using my sight, not the actual image. Most of this is done from images of animals online so not other people's art and I have done some ok drawings in my opinion from just looking at it and trying to draw what I see in it. Most of them are spur of the moment ideas to draw characters of mine or whatever but they end up not looking like garbage so I call that a win. Most of the time I start with drawing what I can see in pencil in a notebook, then I take a photo of my pencil outlines and go over them in a digital art app I have because I love the feel if digital art. I do also draw in pencil but mostly cartoon little characters which I do actually make on my own. They are simple but I love them. I have even done some more detailed looking pencil drawings on my own but have yet to figure out how to give them faces (They are animals which I try to add fur detailing to. They look great, just don't know about the faces). I do try but when it comes to drawing for relaxation I do trace sometimes. I rarely show anyone that art anyway so it's mainly just for me to essentially trick into not feeling like if I were to draw, it will turn out rubbish if that makes sense. Yes I do sometimes show them but honestly only to close people (which isn't many).

    This could be a stylistic thing but I even noticed there's a level of beauty in imperfection like when I was in school & someone who drew really good simplistic drawings (think of diary of a wimpy kid & other simple characters) they might not be good at drawing a full on scenery but they could draw an epic stick fight scene when they're board.
    Another example being the journal entries in RDR2 where Arthur Morgan would draw a bird, major landmark, or something related to the events in his journal they're rough yet still have a nice level of detail & charm to them

    Really needed to hear this today. Been feeling down about my art not being good technique-wise, that it’s blinded me from what made me fall in love with art in the first place: storytelling. Thank you ❤

    This just motivated me to start filling my own journal with poetry.
    It may not be colorful, but i like to call it art too :)

    So true! I recently took time to doodle again, two people in historical clothes. Which is where I realized I suck at drawing folds without a meticulous reference and I can't draw leather boots 'quickly' for the life of me. But even if the faces I drew looked wonky ... I still love what I drew, because I did some fun stuff with it and managed to capture my idea of an intertemporal, intercultural romance. Thank you for sharing all your stories and tips about art!!!
