Same, I rarely look at my art and think it's good. A few things I have been proud of but not many. I mainly draw in like, cartoony, doodle style but if I'm not going to give it to anyone I know I tend to try and trace somethings but I change the designs on it or I add things sometimes. I feel I do better with that and I hope that I can draw them on my own in the future. If you have fun in the moment with the drawing and art then that is all that matters.
@@zclaudteoriasdbs7964 I try to do that after. Plus I'm not selling them and I don't say "Oh yeah, I did this myself." I just get frustrated if I don't get it right so having done one via tracing which looks good I worry less with the one I try to make without tracing. It's just if all I see is what I deem a failure I will get disheartened and give up. If I can see one I drew by hand even if it is via tracing and is good then I can feel less like I have screwed up everything. I don't always draw via tracing. @@that1confusedfox435 if you use art as a way to relax then I don't see tracing as bad thing. But if you want to improve practice drawing shapes and look at the thing you want to draw from a broader spectrum. Basically try to fit it in a shape and use measurements and shapes to guide you
@@zclaudteoriasdbs7964 I do try to. I mainly draw for relaxation but if I want to draw something from a reference to get better or try new things (which is rare but I do try and not trace since I do genuinely want to draw things without tracing) I will try to draw it without tracing and instead look at the image and try to follow the same lines whilst just using my sight, not the actual image. Most of this is done from images of animals online so not other people's art and I have done some ok drawings in my opinion from just looking at it and trying to draw what I see in it. Most of them are spur of the moment ideas to draw characters of mine or whatever but they end up not looking like garbage so I call that a win. Most of the time I start with drawing what I can see in pencil in a notebook, then I take a photo of my pencil outlines and go over them in a digital art app I have because I love the feel if digital art. I found your channel about a month ago and I swear I watch like 20 videos of your every day. I love your videos and your art so much! Also, you NEED to do a whole drawing left handed!!
I stumbled across your channel a few days ago and I really love your content! It's making me feel less shitty about my art and gives me motivation to just keep going and have fun, instead of just seeing every "error" that I make or what I could do better next time. I'm really grateful for that!
This channel reminds me that the mediums of art aren't that different after all. Sure, I use words instead of colours to express a story. But beyond the months spent on character development and plot points, there's a story I want to tell. It's easy to forget that sometimes. He reminds me to have fun in my art. I've found a lot of confidence in my writing since I found this wonderful channel.
It's literally midnight and this video single handedly gave me a spark of motivation to do a whole painting right now. Just goes to show how this man and his art is so amazing.
I’m a left handed artist and was really cool and unexpected when you started drawing with your left hand. Thank you for all of your advice! I love storytelling with my art. ❤️
Hi! I’m early and I wanted to tell you you’re my favorite artist and you inspired me to make art every day again. These type of videos make me so happy. Merry Christmas!
To be honest your motivation is what keeps me going. I'm a Jamaican so family motivation isn't really something I'd get but just one of your videos will make my day.
I love the advice you give to all upcoming artists- I've used some of your advice and techniques and it has helped me so much with my work! I'm getting out of my comfort zone with cartoon characters and starting to work with perspective in my art class- and the things I have heard from your videos, the work I see have helped me so much! Thank you!
“For now, just focus on storytelling- and everything else will be alright.” As someone who’s been stressing over putting together a flashy portfolio so I can apply to study animation at an art school, I really needed to hear this
Scott, could you please make artwork of Cyana from Cosmic Wonders? It’s an indie series on RUclips, and I think artwork from you might just be the popularity boost it needs. The series deserves the recognition.
This could be a stylistic thing but I even noticed there's a level of beauty in imperfection like when I was in school & someone who drew really good simplistic drawings (think of diary of a wimpy kid & other simple characters) they might not be good at drawing a full on scenery but they could draw an epic stick fight scene when they're board. Another example being the journal entries in RDR2 where Arthur Morgan would draw a bird, major landmark, or something related to the events in his journal they're rough yet still have a nice level of detail & charm to them
Sometimes I’m really not sure I’m ever going to be a good artist, but your videos always make me feel better. Thanks for making art feel more attainable.
