I thought you needed to change the new cloud key's IP to the IP address of the previous cloud key when migrating. Looks like all you just needed to do is load the settings config from the old cloud key to the new cloud key. I thought the unifi devices always send a request to whatever the IP address of the controller is.
Thanks would it need possible to upgrade simply using the UI and not having to SSH in? I have a settings only backup and thought to just restore that onto the Gen 2
I'm upgrading today and this is just the video I needed. I can restore using a backup from the console, instead of doing the SCP copy that you performed, right?
I no longer have the original device, and I have already migrated my cloud key, so doing it again isn't possible, mainly because this is part of my production network at home.
Does it give you an error message? How are you trying to do the backup. Do you have a SD card installed on your key? If so can ssh into the key itself and look in the backup directory and see if they are there. You could then scp those files onto your computer if all else fails.

I believe you can download and restore via the UI as well. I just like using the command line when possible.

Should have no problem doing it either way.
If the restore didn't work can you just plug in the gen1 key and go back to that ?
I wouldn't see why not, as the configuration is still there.
