The last level when trying to best your own time gave me some of the best thrills of speed running, and I'm a casual and never do that so I think that says something
Ok man, I liked this review of GT. I did a review on my channel 9 months ago at the time of me typing this comment, but yours feels way more professional than mine. I personally disagree with the dialogue. I don't like how Sonic was being a jerk to Shadow. To me personally, it felt out of character for Sonic. How did you not care for Classic Sonic? He's the third best character in the game and I got Hill Top Zone as my favorite song in GT. One thing I want to point out is your criticism of the game. It's rare to see people criticize fan games when they get nothing but praise. GT is a fire fan game, but it isn't without it's flaws and you pointed some of them out like level design being too big and the player getting lost too easily. This was a great video essay and I hope you do more like this in the future
I agree with Sonic's aggression to shadow, over time while editing and watching through this part the thought was coming to me, but it took some time for me to come to that thought. If classic sonic could bounce and stomp, I would like him a lot more but the versatility of those two actions plus the homing attack is why I find him useless, the extra speed and height can be fun though. I might do more videos like this but I hate audio editing so probably not soon.
In SA2 for the DC at least, holding down button only makes you faster going down, you also keep or pick up more speed by moving left and right, this is only in DC, it's my fav type of grinding, it's sad it's never got as good in latter games
@@SonicDaHog holding down the B button makes you tilt forwards like in the GC, but only on down hills, they made keeping top speed skill base, failing it punishes you, but that's only for going left and right, and because it doesn't work on any other game, people can't go the top seep, because you can go ridiculous speeds on the grind levels
@@SonicDaHog remembered it wrong, when holding down the B button you press left or right to keep your speed on turns, as you lose speed if you don't, there is a video called the definitive way to play Sonic Adventure 2, he explains it a lot better than I can
This wouldn't really flow with tails play style, this game was going for a different type of 3d sonic game, hence why all the playable characters are subtle variation clones of sonic himself which was a intentional choice form the dev I'm sure. Sonic project hero before it went classic esthetic only was perfect 3d control for sonic tails and knuckles.
That's a really good question, I think the boost is ok if the level design is made for it and I think unleashed does theat the best because the stages aren't just boost to win it require having good reactions speeds and knowledge over sonics controls to be able to boost for a while, or you could go slower and use the boost when you know what obstacles are in the way. Forces has basically none of that and is mostly just boost always until reaching a platforming section (if there even is one). Sonic GT is probably the best example of how a possible non boost 3d game could work with the level design but if there was an official Sonic game without a boost and that style of level design it would probably have more, but shorter levels. That's a long answer
Omens is ok I played it recently and it was pretty fun but hass some flaws that I don't feel like talking about now, GT is just a short game but its a finished short game
I only recommend it if you're looking for something low powered, if you have a better machine try Hitfilm Express or Resolve, which I'm trying to learn

I played the game like that originally back in 2020 but the best way to do it is by setting all the graphics to the lowest possible setting and it should run decently

I love how GT is still getting love to this day. I loved working with Greedy on this project as a creative consultant and alpha tester.
Wow, that's really cool that you got to help with the game.
What a humble credit, when you made Bumper Engine, which was used as a base for this game.
