I hope nbc is reading this - as a fan we were booing because the flag man pulled the yellow out in turn 3 then put it away and threw the white when the 41 CLEARLY wasn't moving....
So bell spins dosent even stop and they throw a yellow the 41 spins stops can't re fire and no yellow until they are almost back around to him. Wtg nascar
Despite the extremely questionable officiating, I was at the race and it was a fantastic event at Pocono. The crowd was so much fun to be a part of cheering and booing all the polarizing drivers (and the finish as well)! And it was cool to be there to witness a milestone victory for Denny Hamlin.
For all the people complaining about the flag being thrown. Nascar waited as long as they could in throwing the flag. It was a single car spin and they were anticipating on him moving but he didn't. They don't want another Blaney incident at the Allstar race.
They shouldn't have waited at all. If they throw it for Bell spinning before he even came to a stop, the 41 should have gotten the exact same treatment.
Caution's aren't always thrown for safety in Nascar. They are often thrown to artificially make the race closer (same with "competition" cautions, lucky dog unlapping, and stages). Nascar wanted the flag for Bell's completely harmless spin to bunch the field and have more carnage. They did not want to ruin an exciting two car drag race to the finish. It's an attempt to manipulate the race. Not because they care who wins and want to rig it - they just want people entertained. They don't care about driver safety or the spirit of the competition AT ALL.
Preece didn't hit anything so they gave him a chance to re-fire. And he did briefly, so it wasn't a blatantly bad decision. For all that fans complain about NASCAR forcing the drama by manufacturing overtime finishes, they play it conservative and still get crapped on. Given how poorly the drivers had been handling restarts all day an overtime finish might have wrecked half the field.

The races are still full, it's just broken up into segments. At the end of those segments, points are awarded to the top 10. At the road courses, the race stays under green.
