If that was a screech owl, then yes, they do make that sound.
Also foxes screech similar to that.
They should have shown the different owls in Harry Potter better. They missed an educational experience.
This movie is shown in law school’s because of the way it accurately depicts an actual court room proceeding
The judge was played by Fred Gwynne, best known for playing Frankenstein-like Herman Munster in the Munster tv series. He died shortly after he was in this movie.
Was wondering if Australians got the Munsters, such a shame there was so few episodes mainly because Fred *despised* being seen as a big clumsy oaf instead of an actor.
@@fredt1983 He also was a policeman in the tv comedy series Car 54 Where Are You, which being older, might have episodes floating around on RUclips.
Also, the neighbor in Pet Semetary.
Fred Gwynne also played the uncle in The Boy Who Could Fly 1986
The thing about the judge in the film is that it is accurate. You are completely at the whim of the temperament of the judge. If they don't like your lawyer then he gets less favorable calls and judgment. It's kinda nuts.
Judges hold way too much power in our judical system
That goes for ex-president's as well
Besides, they sleep with their sisters down there.
Ask DJT, he found out the hard way.
She used the correct term. Discovery is the general term for the information the attorneys obtain from any source whereas disclosure specifically refers to opposing counsels sharing information.
I came here to say this. 😂
As a welder/plumber, electrician, geotechnical investigator.. I agree. Being serious.
29:25 The prison noise sounded just like the streets of Brooklyn at night. Vinny finally got a good night's sleep.
Also it was continuous, instead of something sudden. For many urbanites, they can have a hard time sleeping at first in the countryside, when it is too quiet, even minus the loud interruptions that Vinnie and Lisa suffered.
@@johnnehrich9601that was my experience after moving from a city to suburbs. But I got used to the quiet eventually
He's from New York, the city that never sleeps. Those are the noises he would sleep to. The jail noises.
I think the idea there with him sleeping like a baby through a riot was that he was no longer anxious about the case for the first time since getting to alabama
That's an Eastern Screech Owl. Yeah, they sound like that.
I rented this from the library one time, and listening to the commentary, the director explained that he put in establishing shots near the Sack O Suds so you could see the houses of each of the witnesses so it would pay off later.
Different species of owl have a wide range of vocalizations. The owl in the tree is a screech owl.
In my head cannon, Joe Pesci is Uncle Ben for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man lol
He has beautiful hair.
Yes, owls actually do screech like that.🤣
I thought you guys might like to know that the director of this movie, Jonathan Lynn, has an MA in law from Cambridge University.
i had a teacher who happened to also be a lawyer show this movie in high school and he said it's one of if not the the most accurate description of a trial in all of cinema. plus this movie is hysterical lol
I understand it is shown in law school for that same reason, too.
@@johnnehrich9601I am in law school and we watched this my 1L year 😀love this movie
Hoot owls go "hoot" (or who). Screech owls...screech.
Legitimately one of Joe Pesci's best roles of his career, and one of the most Accurate Law films ever made and is shown and taught in Law schools to this day.
Just FYI...both disclosure and discovery are distinct and separate things in a legal case...they are related, but definitely not the same. Disclosure covers the things that each side in the case are required to tell the other side, but discovery is the stuff that each side does to find things out on their own. So, in this case, as soon as Vinny initiated discovery by asking Trotter for the Prosecution's files of evidence then Trotter was required to provide those copies of all his files as part of his required disclosures. 😁
Yes, the concept of discovery is rooted in English common law but in America at least, it was practiced more in the abeyance than in reality for years. The original 70-odd Perry Mason novels (unlike either the tv series or the recent HBO series) were written by practicing lawyer Erle Stanley Gardner 1933-1973, and much of the drama came from the way the one side - mostly the prosecution - could play tricks, like putting witnesses in outlying motels, or not disclosing important information. It was Brady v Maryland in 1963 which really strengthened the concept. But even at the time of this movie, most of the public - including Vinnie - were not aware of this. I remember watching this movie at the time it was released and when it got to the post-deer hunting conversation, was both stunned and also thinking "well, of course, how fair."
PS - If you like courtroom drama, I'd recommend you watch and react to Billy Wilder's 1957 Witness For The Prosecution, based on a work by mystery queen Agatha Christie. I defy you to guess the ending.
This movie is super rewatchable too
Dean's "she likes short, funny guys" comment. 👌🏽
Forgot stocky
this film received a high score for legal realism
20:27 This whole movie is awesome and hilarious, but this bit by Marisa Tomei earned her the Oscar (in my not-so-humble opinion).
The look on Joe's face is hysterical
Marissa Tomei's wardrobe is iconic in this movie. Totally fabulous. 😍
I’m not saying that’s how Italian New Yorkers talk.. but I’m not NOT saying it either
Old school Brooklynites do... 👍🏻😎
I’m in law school in New York and we just watched this! My favorite movie! So glad you watched this :)
What might come as a shock to those from outside the country is that "time" in the states is a precious commodity, time is money ,money is time as the saying goes.
As a New Yorker we do tip everybody 🤣🤣that’s a funny running joke in this movie lol
The thing about public defenders, they’re usually overworked and can spare only a modicum of time on each case. It doesn’t mean they don’t care, though
As someone only an inch taller than Joe Pesci, I sympathize with Vinny trying to find good clothes at the last minute.
The owl is a screech owl. Thats how they sound. You guys have wonderful laughs! I subscribed.
Thank you so much!
I LOVE this movie!! Everyone did a GREAT job! I fell in love with Tomei. I have seen this movie (whole or in parts) at LEAST 20 times. The courtroom scene in particular is film royalty!
@26:40 This wheeze takes me back to hearing Dad start the old car early in the mornings.
got some strong Uncle Jack vibes from that public defender.
Grits are fantastic by the way.
Yes they are, especially with shrimp!
They are indeed! Might make me some grits for dinner...
The public defender sounds like Barney Fife with a speech impediment.
Sort of looks like him, too.
Come to think of it, he sure does.
Thank you for cheering me up the guy on the left looks like Ian Zeiring
No, that's a screech owl. They actually make that noise.
22:38 The best outfit ever?
Owls do go Hoo Hoo. They also scream like a woman being torn in half.
Great Movie..
Thanks for Watching/Reacting..
The way the prosecutor was looking at at Joe Pesci at the end of the trial, was how a snake would look at its ground-bound meal that suddenly flew away.
Not a Skreech Owl 🦉🤣🤪👍🏻
According to the internet (and when is it EVER wrong), the bird was an eastern screech owl which can make a whole range of sounds including screeching. All the screeches we hear before we see the owl were added post-production. When Vinny comes out of the cabin, the owl lets out one final screech which was authentic. The crew considered themselves fortunate the owl screeched that one time on cue.
Joe Pesci was and is a bigger name than Raph Macchio. Marisa Tomei was only a big name after winning the oscar for this movie.
The 2 yutes haha 😂 my wife and I love this movie
Classic... Two utes 🤣🤪👍🏻
Two HWAAAAT?
Did you say "yoot"?
@@jeffl9167 What is a ute?
It was so funny that Vinny didn't know about disclosure. That seems like something a first-year law student would even know.
Law school does not teach ypu how to be a lawyer. It is mostly reading case law. You learn the how-to of beimg a lawyer as an intern.
I learned this while in high school, when a friend of my family took an interest in my future. At the time, I thought about going into pre law, and he taught me enough to make an informed decision.
@jtoland2333 correct. Law school does not teach you to be a lawyer, it just teaches you the laws, which disclosure is a law.
@@jtoland2333I am in law school and we definitely learned about disclosure
"Did you say yute? What is a yute"
They should have said the Prosecutions case doesn't hold water and not the defense.
Your editing takes away the tension and most of the really good punch lines
"That's another Marisa Tomei movie!"
Some facts about this movie the chess pieces falling over wasn't scripted and the owl wasn't planned either and when the stuttering public defender speaks for the first time if you look closely at the table the 3 actors are trying not to laugh
26:54 you can see them breaking in the background 😂
Maybe you should watch Disclosure. The last one of the raunchy Michael Douglas trilogy.
Which was the worst wake up alarm?
Her biological clock was ticking.
Alisa Tomei won an Oscar award for best supporting actress for this.
Marisa
@@andreadeamon6419 Of course. No idea why I wrote alisa....
Discovery 👍
They should have made more Vinny movies.
Obviously they weren’t told as to why they were being arrested and it doesn’t look like anyone read them Miranda Rights to them.
Awwight. Awwight.
Heinous.
J-j-j…j-j-JURAY
You cut out all of her best lines ?
A lot of motels in US have rooms that exit out onto a common balcony rather than an internal hallway
Editing is pretty bad
Not a good edit, and the 'one has seen it/ one hasn't' never works for these things.
Its Time!
