My favorite thing about this movie is that Bullet-Tooth Tony would kill his way through an army without hesitation, but he was sweating bullets at the idea of having to hurt a poor little doggy and was utterly relieved to not have to hurt him.

Guy Ritchie spent about 8 year in development for this movie. He had the whole concept laid out but wanted to get a professional writer to put the movie in script format. He couldn't get anyone to write what he had in his head so he ended up learning to script write so he could write it himself.
The dialogue is so amazing and comedy gold yet at the same time being deadpan serious situations. So awesome.

It's not close at all, people always say that and it just isn't the case. They are both directed by the same bloke and both feature cockney gangsters but that's pretty much where the similarities end. Snatch has a lot of punch lines, silly gags and silly situations that makes the audience smile and laugh, verging on the side of a comedy film, like the guy said it reminds him of a Coen brothers production. Lock Stock has a couple of comedic irony moments but that's it. It is not a funny film at all, it's got a much darker vibe to it and is much more about violence and the East End criminal underworld so much so that there is a heavy colour grade on it to make it seem even more dirty and gritty. On top of that the soundtrack is a lot more depressing, most of the tunes are in a minor key with the running theme music in a diminished 7th to emphasise the sense of misery and hopelessness. On the surface they seem like very similar films but when you watch them you realise how very different they are and the feelings and emotions you go through when watching them are totally different.

@@amazingusername8925 a few punch lines? Lock Stock is not as funny as Snatch but it has witty humor all over the place. One may not burst into laughter but it's usually enjoyed with at least a smirk on your face.

I had quite a time with _Carlito's Way._ Went to see it with a couple friends when it was in theaters. Got about halfway through it, though not for lack of interest. It was a cloudy day which turned rainy, and then a bit stormy as we entered the building. About halfway, the theater had to evacuate due to a tornado being spotted in the vicinity on a path that could include the theater. Everyone got vouchers as they exited. The ride back home, fortunately, went without incident, and the theater ended up not being hit, but by the time I had a chance to get back there, the movie's theater run had already ended. Had to wait until it was on video to see the rest. Very much worth the wait, of course. So, I've always remembered it for not only being a great movie, but also a bit of an ordeal.

Sad to say she actually passed away, she was a stray we found this year and turned out she was much older than we thought and randomly her health started declining so fast; devastated we didn't have her longer but happy we were able to give her love and happiness in her final months.

On the subject of Mickey being impossible to understand, if you go into the audio options and turn on "Pikey Subtitles" then you get subtitles only when Mickey is speaking.

A bunch of other Brit gangster films you might not have seen:
    - Get Carter

    - Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
