In April 2005, at the personal invitation of Fidel Castro and the Swiss foundation, Association Friends of Cuba, Rick Wakeman and the New English Rock Ensemble performed a mammoth sell-out concert in the Karl Marx Theatre in Havana, Cuba.

"Made in Cuba" presents Rick Wakeman with his band the 'New English Rock Ensemble' performing to a capacity crowd live at the Karl Marx Theatre in Havana, Cuba. In April 2005, invited by the Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Music Institute and the Swiss Foundation, "Association Friends of Cuba" - Rock Keyboard legend Rick Wakeman travelled to Havana, to perform a series of concerts that will forever be recognised internationally as an enormous event for the Cuban people, and a historic moment marked by the importance of one of the first and largest official Rock Concerts ever to be performed on the island.

My JOURNEY / SIX WIVES Show was on 11/14/74 @ MSG, NYC. A month later, I witnessed YES and there RELAYER/CTTE Show on 11/20/74, also @ MSG, NYC. PS: Saw Rick and YES do there TALES/CTTE Show on 2/16/74 @ the Spectrum Phila. '1974 was a GREAT Year to be a YES/Rick Wakeman Fan!!

I saw Rick in Cincinnati with the English rock ensemble do this album in the 70’s. Gentle giant was the opener.

Almost 50 years... I listened to your records (it was a vinyl LP) in my teens... I hope you are well and healthy, your magical music is eternal.
Well, I edited a video with your songs from Journey To The Center Of The Earth in 2 parts... I also put subtitles (EN - PTBR), there's a "story" about Journey To The Center Of The Earth (even though I don't understand English , I had watched the movie Journey To The Center Of The Earth on TV.. you turned it into music, a whole book.... my considerations for the beautiful work and composition.

Friday nights travelling home for the weekend when in the British Army circa 1997/8. Happy memories.
The first time I heard it: 8th grade music class, band class or something. The teachers--there were two of them--they played it to us all. I was transfixed. I wonder whether my teachers were blown away by it? They did act a bit peculiar. I knew I really wanted to be drummer when I heard that recording. One of my greatest regrets is not seeing Mr. Wakeman at the Ridgefield Playhouse, Connecticut, USA, 2017?. I was walking distance to the venue.

Anybody around for the Year of '74 was a Lucky Soul, like me to see and hear YES do there AMAZING TALES / CTTE Show on 2/16/74 and there FANTASTIC RELAYER / CTTE show on 11/20/74 and smack dab in the middle (sort of) Rick do his JOURNEY / SIX WIVES show at MSG, NYC on 10/14/74. '1974 was the YEAR of YES!! By Far!! PS: Those YES Shows were # 1 & 2 of my x 10. Saw the TALES Line-Up of YES x 5 of the 10 YES Adventures!!

Rick gambled everything on the original Journey show, up to and including his own life - on the night of the performance he suffered at least one, possibly several heart attacks, almost certainly during the show itself, and kept playing. He couldn't afford to record it twice, so depended on a near-perfect second night for the live record - without which he would have been bankrupted by the costs.
Plus of course he had to write it all, play it all, and direct it all.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is what it takes to be Rick Wakeman. That cape isn't just for show.

I guess I could easily get a job as sound mixer with those guys, and produce some some sort of decent balance, even though I've got no arms and I'm deaf. Mind you, the original album (21st gift, thanks Linda!) was total jobbies as well, and didn't come out of its red, scratchy-platic covers enough to get scratched. Shame, cos Rick seems like a nice guy.
I can see in my mind how Rick tells his grandchildren how he got invited to play in Cuba by Fidel, and they are like "Sure you were grampa Rick".

Jon Anderson never sang on Rick’s solo albums! Ashley Hold sang with Garry Pickford-Hopkins on the original 1974.
