      I definitely agree with all you said in this video, especially the parts about the evidence and "cancel culture".
      I'd like to think that the "victims" would have gone straight to the police instead of releasing this information online to try and screw over this persons career.
      Obviously nobody but him knows what really happened (if he even does remember) so I'm not just going to jump to any rash conclusions about the guy.
      I see the video as an overall positive even if he did seem a bit stiff and awkward (ofc that would be expected from someone irrationally hated by so many people)
      Overall i am indifferent towards him, i was never a huge fan of him in the first place so this situation doesn't have a huge impact on me anyway.

    You can easily compare Datsik's situation to Chris Brown and 6IXNINE. Chris Brown abused women, the most known one being Rihanna, and 6IXNINE had underage sex at a party, and these were PROVEN and SHOWN to the world that they happened, yet millions of people still love them and listen to their music, but we haven't seen ANYTHING for Datsik's situation. Nothing went to court, nor did the "victims" file anything, and yet everyone is lashing on Datsik. It's such a double standard

      No, that’s not it at all. Everyone is lashing out because instead of addressing the alleged vitctims in his “apology” video, he was hyper focused on himself by constantly reiterating the idea that he’s been trying to improve himself by taking a break. That doesn’t mean shit. Let’s also consider the fact that he went private as soon as the allegations broke loose. He never explicitly denied these allegations and decided to run away instead of facing them. What does that tell you? Guilty. I used to like Datsik. I want to like Datsik. But he’s making it really hard.

    the thing that makes me sick is that when someone is cancelled and they are proven innocent, there's no taking back the damage that has been done. People are so impulsive and disconnected from reality, and so so easily influenced by literally anything they see written online. It's disgusting.

    I completely agree with this video. We don’t know what happens in anyone’s life, we only see the fabrication of them on social media. We don’t know the legal side of things, we don’t know if he did it or not. I hold my hand up and admit I fell into that bracket of slamming him/clowning on him before taking a step back and realising the old “if it doesn’t affect me, leave it alone”. If he’s done shit then never hear from him again, if he hasn’t then cool we carry on. This scene means so much to me and to see it divided sucks. Wish everyone would take a step back, come together with love and support and disregard the hate/people they don’t like

You literally explained everything in this video perfectly, I totally thought I was the only one that thought this way about the whole situation. • @Ritley
    @Ritley 4 года назад +14

    I am just happy for him to finally get the strenght to return and make some music again, but I still take this with a grain of salt. He said, that he changed a lot as a person and if he truely is guilty, then I think we all know what that was meaning. I also think the reason why he didnt adress the topic at hand, regardless if he is innocent or not, is either to not break his image completely, which is the worst case, or he apologized to his victims personally and didnt want them to get dragged into all this again. But we just have to wait and see what really happened 1.5 years ago, if we ever get to know. I am excited for his new music, but I will not judge him, over stuff I don't know. Thats just my way to handle all this

    • @Nawtystep

But some few people could easily organize few stories and some screenshot (not that difficoult right?) to destroy completely someone career (and before that someone life)..

    You had me worried for the first half of the video, and then the second half of the video saved it. As of right now, being a centrist in this situation is the best way forward. Datsik has thrown another piece of content into the ring but we basically know nothing more substantial than we knew over a year ago. Once the situation progresses a little more and more concrete evidence comes out, then it will be more likely that a more clear side will come out. But being unsure of anything as of yet and acknowledging that and staying undecided to a side and waiting to see how the situation develops is a very fair place to be right now. Anybody who gives you shit for that, especially given your decent reach right now, can kinda shove it.
    Question: what is the next step if he just goes about releasing music and no new information ever comes out about this situation again? I guess at that point it does fall to personal preference and how you interpret the information we've gotten this far.
    Also, it might be a good idea to make sure no ads are running on this video if there are any right now - that might be a bad look. Just lookin out for ya.

    • @Nawtystep
      @Nawtystep  4 года назад +5

      Yeah pretty much man, that's what it boils down to at the moment. It's all we can do when we know nothing concrete, it's a very difficult issue to discuss for many, and I respect that, but fact of the matter is we can't fully accuse someone of something without that concrete knowledge.
      Re your Q: it's an interesting one, but honestly I think this is just the first step of his explanation. If there is no further explanation, as I mentioned in the vid there will be questions, he has to clear things up, set the record straight, it can't just go under the rug. I for one will certainly be asking them, can tell you that..

      @@77ELCREADOR that makes a lot of sense looking back at the situation. And in a sense that would also explain why datsik didnt go into detail about what happened. Maybe he himself isnt fully sure in memory of what took place. And as such to explain what happened would be going off of an at best potentially incorrect memory of the events. So him saying he made regrettable actions is honestly the best way to have handled it in my opinion.
      Now, was it a good apology? No. Him talking about how things spiraled out of control because of mental health? That's not a good way of working what I believe he really is trying to say.
      I think what he is trying (and failing horribly) to say that his worsening mental health begun to take a toll on him, and he begun to make bad decisions with a bad sense of better judgement and understanding of consequences. This does not excuse his behavior. Nor does it remove responsibility for his conduct, regardless of what really transpired. He could have went to therapy when his mental health started to take a turn for the worse. Instead he turned to inhibitors like liquor, substances and partying.
      He is responsible for his conduct. And he knows this. He has a hard time admitting it. And I completely understand why. A personal anecdote of my own to lend some context for why I am taking this stance on the situation: I was a pretty crappy person in intermediate and high school. Not in the sense of me being a bully, but rather a shudden who couldn't relate to anyone, and who always blamed others for my problems. Which in hindsight, isnt completely wrong, but was also not the full truth. I was prone to being set off by certain people or topics, which I regret completely.
      Later on in high school, I learned that I had undiagnosed ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Which, overwhelmed and shut me down on an emotional and social sense. Becoming even more of a recluse. And the rumors that I only recently learned about, didn't help. But regardless, I shouldnt have let them get to me, and make me act in a shitty way towards others when they even tried to give compliments to me. I was becoming worse. And snapped at them believing they were trying to play me a fool. I'm responsible for my behavior. Having a bad mental health state does not excuse my behavior in the slightest, and neither does my condition.
      Datsik is in a similar boat here when it comes to his behavior. I am not declaring either side to be the truth. I believe the truth is, like most things, somewhere in the middle, or it has been lost to time under circumstances that would make it impossible to recall exactly and without any reasonable doubt, what occurred between Datsik and those who are accusing him. We likely won't ever know. But personally, I am not picking a side. And people should be willing to play the devil's advocate and see all sides in a neutral standing. Removing all bias towards the situation, and look at it with what is known, as well as checking for any subtext that could be inferred from the wording used from all parties.
      Thank you for coming to my Ted talk, if anyone is reading this.

    Personally, I think there has to be an argument made for being able to listen to someone's music with the knowledge of what type of person they are, but not supporting that. I think someone should be allowed to listen to someone's music, enjoy it, but don't have to endorse supporting their career. Just because you listen to music, doesn't mean that you like the person and I don't think that it's fair to ridicule people to enjoy someone's music when they would never pay a ticket to see them live. While it's hard to not listen to music nowadays without supporting them by streaming revenue, I think if someone were to truly enjoy someone's music without supporting them, they can just torent that music.

    The best course of action right now is to wait and see what further unfolds before making any drastic moves, but as it stands this whole situation kinda skeeves me out regardless. For the time being I've been holding off from sending any views or stream revenue his way until such a time as it become obvious the accusations were false, because the end of it all sending money the way of a possible abuser just doesn't sit right with me.
    He'll make it just fine on his diehard fans' support. Doesn't need mine to stay afloat, and he'll get it back if he handles this well. Time will tell.

    In my opinion, Troy has just been really dumb in the way he's approached everything and it's funny to me how he doesn't seem to think in a common sense way. The first few girls who came forth (including the one who anonymously contacted his agency directly) were very convincing cases to me who didn't want to sabotage him but just wanted to make sure he didn't do continue his behavior. While it's true that nothing was "proven" and it's possible that he didn't do anything, I still feel that Troy should have acknowledged the situation for what it is without the bullshit. It's good that he's tried to improve himself, but he's gotta realize that people don't give a shit because they just want him to say what actually happened.

I just hope that it gets cleared up to some degree because it doesn't seem fair to me that the internet just stripped away his career within a few days without any solid legal backing or clear knowledge of who's telling the truth. His previous address didn't seem to make much difference and I am hopeful that whatever he has to say next will help the situation reach a better (at least more honest) conclusion.

    Datsik can be a drug man/sex addict/whatever, but that does not change, that he made some of the most revolutionary pieces in dubstep. Without him, Excision, Downlink, and especially D-Jahsta (and maybe other musicians I do not know about) would sound very different. Datsik made some extreme mistakes it seems, but if he is not making music, he is wasting his talent and skill.

Say he is not a musical genius, especially while listening to his old stuff. His label Firepower was so incredible. He fucking knew talent and helped some of the most talented musicians. (Including Barron) Some of the EPs released on Firepower are some of the greatest in the music style. Thanks to him I discovered so many new incredible musicians. So many. Including Barron of course. Firepower was a huge part of a certain part of my life. I remembering buying EPs From firepower the minute they came out on Google Play Music. His collabs with Excision and Downlink are also so legendary.

    On the point about legal filings by the victims - The accusations levelled against him are events that happened 2-3+ years ago now. There'll be no evidence that would hold up in a court, and also the events (if they occurred) are likely traumatic experiences the women are trying to put behind them. Any official proceedings would force the women to go through all those experiences again, and likely come to nothing legally.

    • @Kriskraze63

    I agree with every point you've made here. I like to remain neutral in these kind of situations until I have some definitive proof about the situation. If he didn't do it, great, I wish him future success and hopefully revives his career and justice comes to those gals who wrongfully accused him. But if he DID do it, he's a scumbag prick who deserves everything that came his way and more. I just wish more people would analyze the situation at hand for themselves before jumping to conclusions and hopping on the hate bandwagon demonizing someone who could potentially be innocent. Also I take into consideration that other artists say things against him because, yes, approval of the masses but also if they even said anything in his favour like "What if he's innocent?" they would get spat on as well (Something similar happened to Dubloadz the other day) I like Datsik's music, I partially owe him for getting me into Dubstep. I don't exactly like how he's handled the situation, but everyone handles things differently. I hope he didn't do what he was accused of, but if he did, that's a damn shame.

    I think he's only going to get back what he gives, it was such a non-apology that he's gonna get non-forgiveness. If he's not willing to run the risk of actually getting in trouble for whatever he did by actually admitting or apologizing about any of it, then he's not gonna get any actual forgiveness. I believe everyone deserves a route to redemption, but you have to be willing to take the necessary steps/make the necessary sacrifices, It's simple as that and he's clearly not willing to do that. I'm not saying I know what he did, but I think just the way he has handled the whole situation makes him look incredibly guilty, if it were 100% FALSE he would be in outrage and I don't think that video would have been made. As someone's who's been "in the scene" for over 10 years, there was murmurs and rumors of this crap looooonnnggg ago, its common knowledge he was a big party guy as well (I've seen him live at least 10 times, he mentioned "ketamine" on the mic one time lol). Look up what happened to ProJared, he was essentially innocent and he came back to prove it, he never made some fake apology, cause he knew he was innocent. Datsik has conducted himself like a very guilty man. I'll give him another chance when he gives anyone a reason to, cause that video surely wasn't it

    • @Nawtystep
      @Nawtystep  4 года назад +1

      But if he didn't do what he's accused of, how is it fair that he gets non-forgiveness? Again, I'm by no means on his side, but you have to keep it open, otherwise it's plain cancel culture playing out. I definitely feel he should have addressed the issue in the video, but as I mentioned, I think that's coming soon. He has to address it at some point, otherwise there will be questions.
      It's a fair point you raise about him being outraged if it was indeed 100% false, but even if it is false he still has to make the video because of how long it's been, and the fact that the accusation - to the public at least - is very much still lingering, people need to be updated.
      Be wary of deducing someone is what they are accused of just because of how they deliver a video - him being how he was, as I said in the video, could be for any reason whatsoever.

    • @Ivan-ib4hz
      @Ivan-ib4hz 4 года назад +1

      @@Nawtystep if he didn't do what he's accused of, why is he even seeking to be forgiven at all if there is nothing to be forgiven for in the first place? It just doesn't add up, the whole thing reeks of some sort of bullshit even if "nothing has been proven".
      Look, my personal opinion, he's not addressing/admitting anything whatsoever because he knows that if he does he's really done for, whether thats completely destroying his chances to re-enter the scene, legal troubles, both or worse.
      Regardless of whether he is guilty or not, the scene wants to hear from him what actually happened, until he's prepared to do that i guess he gets to sit in time-out/limbo
      I'm not sure I buy that this situation is #cancelculture playing out yet again as that aims to unfairly bar people from any route of redemption. Like if a person proves they're innocent, or fairly pays their dues for their wrongdoings, and they end up unfairly STILL cancelled. Datsik's route to redemption, guilty or not, is to tell us what happened and own up to it

    Just heard about this now for some crazy reason. As usual, both sides of the argument being equally wrong, because very few people think for themselves, and try their damnedest not to stick out in a crowd. However, I will say, the fact that he apologized at all gives you a big hint. If somebody accused me of domestic abuse right now, the last thing I would do is upload an apology video. I wouldn't be full of excuses or apologies. I would be full of anger and frustration, and I would be calling people out, and defending myself. So yeah. Probably did some stuff he shouldn't have. However, there still needs to be a path to redemption. You can't just put people out of work for the rest of their lives for a mistake, no matter how bad. Even murder has a path to redemption sometimes. Unless we're just going to start executing people upon the first mistake they make? Not allowing people to provide for themselves is just as bad.

    I love this video. Usually, I'm the type of guy to defend a person I enjoy. I enjoy his music, but I don't enjoy the fact that he MAY have done these things. For me, I'm in the middle. If an artist were to play one of his songs during a show, I wouldn't be mad. I'm sure most would be mad, but still. I still listen to some of Michael Jackson without focusing on what he did. (Yes, those are allegations I believe, but I think there's some damning evidence that he did it). I'm sure it's difficult for some to not focus on those things, but I can easily jam out to some music without sitting there with a disgusted face. I think cancel culture is toxic. Rumors will always be spread, but don't immediately say the man is guilty. He may be guilty, and there is some evidence to suggest that, but the truth is, no one truly knows except for him, and the victims, if any.

    Here's my guess, I think he probably did it, here's why I think so, the story's from twitter make sense, even tho there were no charges in a lot of rape cases the victims dont press charges also there's a lot of different types of rape so for example u dont have to use physical force for it to be rape, u can use drugs and manipulation to entice a girl that doesn't want to have sex to have sex anyway which is still rape, besides the twitter stories why would u go mia for a year if u actually didn't do anything wrong, along with the typical youtuber apology video which was super cringe, I think he may not have have even realized what he was doing was as bad as it was at the time, but i think he did it, thats my guess I honestly don't really care that much I was never a mega datsik fan or anything, I did see him on the ninja nation tour before all this went down, pretty lit show lol, jus livin my life listening to thicc bass
