I enjoyed it but I feel like the hype and time it took to be a reality made it worse when you take into account that 4 songs were released previously, there were 2 interludes a 3-minute intro and a VIP. "take that" and "black water" are good but "take that" is labeled as a bonus track so "blackwater" was honestly the only very new thing and my favorite.

Favorite album of the year, no question. Something about the whole package just scratches an itch no other bass music can. There’s just something so compelling about these two guys putting their heart and soul into a project with such raw sincerity that any small flaws in the execution don’t matter. Every cut is novel and enjoyable in its own right, and few albums this year have left as big an impact on me. Is it perfect? No. Does it matter? Hell no.
It’s loud, it’s bombastic, it’s a tad janky here and there, but it’s all so genuine and well-produced that it keeps me enthralled every time. Give me this any day over the umpteenth samey-sounding riddim EP I’ll forget in two days.
Hard to pick a favorite between Blackwater, Overkill, and… contentious pick, but Jungle Fury. Dunk on me for it all you want, but the psytrance drop is one of my favorite drops of the year. Call it a guilty pleasure.

So true i can put aside a lot of imperfections due to hearing the real soul and passion put into this music. Though i have been following RIOT for many years now so its hard to say how much i give them for already being a fanboy. This combined with knowing they were busy touring all year i can put a lot of flaws off but damn do they put on one hell of a live show

    #10 Overture 1900 5/10 (isn't really a track, but still cool)
#9 Desert to Desert (Interlude) 5/10
    #8 Last Stand (Interlude) 5.5/10
#7 Take That 6/10 (Would be higher, if the voice wouldn't be so pitched up)
#6 Blackwater 8.7/10 drop has too little energy
#5 Disorder (Rebirth) 9/10 IT'S TIME FOR DRUM & BASS!
    #4 Jungle Fury 9.7/10

I’m starting to realize that our tastes really are very different. The drops you weren’t impressed with (jungle fury psytrance, overkill, disorder dnb) I’m huge on. And the mob is probably my least favorite full track here, the melody is really cheesy and the drops feel very preset-ey and generic imo. At least we agree on aiwa lol, total banger of a track, probably my second favorite on the album.

    • @Nawtystep

The Big Finicheti that’s interesting, and probably the best thing coz we can show each other our own perspectives :) re the ones you enjoy, I’m all for energy and wildness but if it doesn’t work sonically I’m out. I enjoyed this album quite a bit! I found all of the tracks to be really fun tunes, just a very consistent listen throughout. I also enjoy the story-telling aspects of it (even though We_Are_Dust did it better). I think this kind of high energy, personality filled dubstep/brostep is what we need more of right now. Definitely a guilty pleasure album for me. (8/10)

Idk why every song has to go in a certain direction all the time , I never understood why people use that as criticism, like I personally don’t mind if the song doesn’t take me off my seat , it’s just the way the song was made . Idk maybe I’m just too easily pleased

I thought it was a pretty solid album overall. My favorite was probably The Mob, because I just love the complexity of the drops on that one. I also appreciate the storytelling aspect, and the fact that it’s not just 10 disconnected tracks. The songs all feel like they have to do with each other. The only thing I would have changed would be removing Take That from the album. I get that they tried to make an unexpected celebratory end, but it just didn’t really work in my opinion. The whole album would make a lot more sense to me if it just ended with Overkill.

I like the lore behind this album

  • @jayusofficial6348
    @jayusofficial6348 4 года назад +1

3 main points about the album:
1: WHY wouldn’t they open with Disorder Rebirth, after the overture? Like maybe the plot has something to do with that but after “it’s time to light up the sky with fire,” the huge explosion from that song would be far more suited than the slow increase in volume from Jungle Fury.
2: Blackwater has one of my favorite dubstep intros of ALL TIME hands down, but the drop doesn’t even come close to living up to the tension that’s built. Pretty disappointed that it was the only *new* dubstep song on the album.
3: I hate this “building a world” argument everyone is making. Like sure they did, but I find that the instrumental world Xilent created on We Are Dust is far more breathable and beautiful than that of “Dogma Resistance.”
