I'm brazilian and am currently considering a move to either Canada or Australia.
I'm just afraid Australia might be way too hot (where I live, we have 30-35° for the most part) and it's not really great if you don't have immediate access to a beach or to air-conditioning.
On the other hand, Canada is also way too cold (I've never even touched snow).
Would you mind trying to point eventual pros of moving to Canada, also in your perspective? It would be of great help, once I know nobody.

Your vlog couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’m a Filipino who studied and lived in Brisbane for four years with my wife. Those years were some of the best days of our lives. We went on countless adventures around Queensland and visited Melbourne and Sydney twice as well.
About a year and seven months ago, we moved to Alberta, Canada, after landing jobs, and we’re now working on our permanent residency. However, we deeply miss Australia, especially Queensland. We’re torn between staying here or moving back to Australia. We figure that once we obtain Canadian citizenship, we might have better chances of returning to Australia.
Thank you for creating this video-it has given me valuable insights into decision-making and personal growth. Wishing you all the best and continued success!

Interesting, and I moved from Sydney to Vancouver in 1990, because at the time, Canada was light years ahead of Australia. I’ve lived in BC ever since. Also, the heat was getting to me. You can dress for the cold, but Aussies spend significant time indoors to avoid the heat, as much as Canadians do with the cold.

Melbourne and Hobart are very much like Canada and Scandivanian, then Adelaide and Sydney are like Mediterranean, then there is Cairns, Brisbane, Goldcoast pretty much subtropical. Perth is the prettiest but most isolated. Darwin is the smallest but pretty much tropical all year long.

Avoid culture shock by staying in touch with friends and family in Canada (email, Skype, phone call via laptop etc), travel around Brisbane region or Australia in your spare time. Learn a new hobby or sport eg surfing, make local friends, try the local cuisine, coffee, wine etc and explore the local arts scene, see local wildlife parks like Lone Pine or Daisy Hill Koala Park, visit national parks with mountains, rainforest and waterfalls. Or the islands, Moreton, Bribie and North Stradbroke, Fraser / Kgari eg. Last but not least expect reverse culture shock when you return to Canada, even if only for a few weeks to catch up with family. Some things will have changed, others gotten worse and others stayed the same. eg the rain in BC.

My advice for young people who have grocery or cooking challenges like you mentioned.. get a food delivery service like Hello Fresh.. food is fresh, super tasty, easy to cook and no waste.. except for addition packaging which is mostly recyclable. You will be proud of the meals because they are very tasty. Your cooking confidence will sky rocket. Other than that, i wish you all the best on your journey of self-discovery and hope you continue to love your time in Australia!!

Please don;t be lulled into a false sense of security by people leaving things unlocked and unattended. I watched SE Qld become a victim of it's own success in the early noughties, and a big part of that is a sharp rise in property crime, esp car theft. I would also try to be more aware of personal safety in Brisbane at night - it's not NYC but nor should it be given the population.
