- Originally released as a performance running shoe, New Balance recently reintroduced the 740 model, completely retooled as a lifestyle sneaker. The debut general release colourway I'm reviewing is the "White / Marsh Green" colour which features a mesh upper, synthetic green overlays, and a chunky Abzorb foam midsole for cushioning. Sean! Both the new 509 and 740 silhouettes basically have the 530 midsoles, but I like the paneling of the 509 better than the 740s. Also, I think Aminé is the first to announce a collaboration for this retooled version.
I think I prefer the design and overall looks of the new 509 .

Visually, I actually like the design of the 740 more than the 1906R. It feels more streamlined and fast, whereas the 1906R's lines feel a bit more clunky. I agree that the true test will be other colorways and collabs. This cw isn't bad and I'm not getting the Monarch vibe from it at all, but it does feel a bit GR to me. The Amine pair looks pretty nice and a little more adventurous.

Regarding New Balance 530 - this model has been discovered from the valut by New Balanace Korea team (From E-Land Group) and it was a huge sucess in Korean Market. I don't see them much in USA, but it is still very popular in Korea for its affordability.
This pair is fire. I have no issues with the look of these. Not familiar with these in my arsenal in that era.

The green colorway was a bizarre launch choice by NB. I tried them in store and they feel slightly long, but as Sean says, there’s a thumbs width in length from toe to the edge of the shoe. I like it better than the 530, but I’ll wait for a better colorway.

I don't really understand why NB need this model. I guess you can say the lower price is the selling point, but you can get similar models from other brands ( Saucony ProGrids, Reebok Premier Road Plus, Puma Morphic etc.) for cheaper prices. And dare I say those aforementioned models look alot better then these half-hearted attempt.
New Balance already habe the 530. It is a relatively successful model. These 740 just free very lazy and redundant.
I returned mine bro …could not handle the cheap materials …I want to see a collab …I think they are comfy though for the price
Upcoming Anime colab adding this model a bit more character . This colourway is kinda underwhelming for the model to be fair . A bit too basic and this colourway looks better on ladies feet for some reason .
Unfortunately nb quality control has been slipping recently, even MiUSA pairs have flaws which is ridiculous considering the price point. I'll only cop nb if on sale these days

I don't see these stealing many Asics 1130 customers. The 1130 is a nicer looking sneaker and great value. I picked up another 1130 on Amazon Japan this weekend for only 9600 yen.
