i cant believe im learning how to edit videos from none other than, Murr himself. Always been a big fan of your show impractical jokers! keep up the great content. Love to see you branching out into new areas
Man thank you so much I used to layer my footage and blur the background one but keep the front one same, the filter you showed had a very nice effects. Thank you man pls keep up❤️
THX man for that tips, I knew how to do it, but still, it's good to watch all your tips, it's good to watch how other specialists do their job and sometimes learn better ways to do something :) Cheers !
Jay - once again, truly appreciative of your great content. Went from thinking I just wanted to confirm how to make a Short / adjust the aspect ratio to learning something I had no idea about (the Blank Fill feature) in Resolve. I have also made a ton of use of a pointer you gave me in the past on using an Adjustment Clip - something I was completely lost without. So thanks a ton for continuing to help my video production quality grow - you rock, sir! (and love the plug for Milwaukee power tools - I am a Ryobi man myself - the little brother of Milwaukee - haha!). - DIYNate
Hey! Glad I could make you aware of some new things! That happens to me often in Resolve, like wow, I didn't know you could do that!. 😜 Ryobi has great stuff too! Guess I got Milwaukee cause it's red....like my canons, haha! But really I just thought they were great tools based on my research. 😁
Awesome!! Thank you. Finally able to create a vertical short correctly. Watched another video from another RUclipsr tut that was wonky. You are becoming my go to instructor for Davinci Resolve!
Thanks so much ! I have hesitated doing some shorts because of the format but now you made it simple and that's gonna be some fun work to doooo !!! Bisous from France !
this was actually really helpful, whenever I looked up youtube official guides it was all about dumb live footage but this helps me change recorded screen footage into shorts, thanks!
Thanks so much for this video! It was super easy to follow and I can now take stream clips and adjust them to shorts and Tiktok videos. Changed my life XD
What I do is, to bring the 16:9 to 1:1 and put it in the top half of the screen. Then use blank in fill with different top and bottom cropping, as well as no side crop. Blur the background and use the white color above it a little, will give it a nice milk glassy look. TikTok will put the chat and likes above the bottom half of the screen anyway.
Thank you for your help, I was using another program, it was driving me nuts. thought I would find out if I could do it faster in DaVinci Resolve and was able to follow this and do it so much quicker. :D
Man, I wish I had found this video before making something that was supposed to be a short and afterwards set the resolution to 1080 x 1920 and wondered why it was just a tiny video with giant black borders, well, I know now. Thanks for the great explanation!
Very helpful -- what about the upload? I tried uploading a few on desktop and tagging with #shorts but not sure they are really getting the same boost as native ones uploaded on mobile
As always...GREAT info Jason. Quick and Simple. I will give it a go. I am new to creating shorts so let's see how it goes. Wish me luck. Cheers !!😎😎😎😎😎
First you’d have to cut it down to include only the most important parts. Then you can change the timeline to a vertical format and edit the way you’d like to. 😁👍
Thank you!! 🙏 My one question is if there's a render format that works best. I've uploaded standard frame size Mp4s to-point, & this fullscreen cellphone portrait video composing is all new to me. Really dug all the tips you dropped in such a short tutorial - thanks again!
HI! I'd use the settings I show in this video, just make sure the aspect ratio is for vertical - i.e. 1080 x 1920 vs 1920 x 1080. ruclips.net/video/AbXeFcabJpw/видео.html
Thanks for your videos man, you're my go to when learning new things in resolve. Question: I'm trying to create a 4k youtube short in davinci resolve. Would I still edit the timeline to 1080x1920? or 2160x3840?
Absolutely brilliant, I knew I could trust someone with a hairstyle similar to mine Question, regarding the upload what does make it a short? The hashtag in the title or YT automatically recognizes it as short?
Thanks! What makes it a short is the fact that it's less than 1 minute in length and that it's vertical video. I think you need to include '#shorts' in the title or description, but you might not need to do that any longer.
@@JasonYadlovski thank you for the answer! Yes, correct. It appears to not be necessary anymore as it automatically detect the properties and sets it in shorts. The hashtag may help it being picked up by the algoritm but it's just like tags
Thanks very much. Why did it take me so long to realise that the easiest way to do a RUclips Short is just to turn a dSLR to portrait aspect! And so much easier to just create a new Timeline rather than starting from scratch with a new Project Library > Project Settings. Other than that, if it is an existing 1080p landscape aspect clip, rather than use a background I use Transform > Zoom etc to fill the screen and I use Clip Attributes > Super Scale 2X to get really nice 4K. Great tutorial as always.
@jason.. I don’t know if you purposefully didn’t mention the option while creating a new timeline under Mismatched Resolution one can set it to “scale entire image with crop” .. this’ll automatically resize the image to fit the entire screen without the black bars 🤷🏽♂️… Thanks for all the tutorials.. ✌🏽
Thanks man! That's another great way to do it too. Always lots of ways to do things in Resolve. It's nice to have options. 😜 Thanks for checking out the video!
This video is very useful, but how to you set a thumbnail to the video? Because when you upload to YT from is just picks a random frame from the video regardless if i set poster frame in Davinci resolve.
Thank you for this! I’m still newish to resolve and video editing, and wanted to step up my game for tiktok and reels! I had no idea resolve could auto fill like that, I only record things with my phone and sometimes zooming too much makes the quality not so great.
Hey Jason great video, I want to make a short for Facebook. Is there a way to import a video from a different project to another project to make a short instead of having to start all over to make the short. Cant I just copy the Timeline from one project and paste it to another? Thanks
