@@nick7.3 I only bring it up because people praise them for not being able to rust. The frames can still rot. But you are correct they’ll be in the junkyard before that happens.
Ford made big updates to the 17 I have a 17 now use to have a 15 and they are night and day different. Loved my 15 but the 17 is far superior. Interior the suspension hit big updates the payload capacity is much higher on 17 and up versus 11-16. Also 17 are just as easy to tune as the 11-16. One thing you did not talk about the 11-14 have turbo issues I would personally stay away from those
@@jonathanschaffer3727 I said a 2020+ is harder to tune, not a 2017. Interiors just look a little different, they dont have any nicer features and the turbo issues are actually an 11-12 issue. 2013 and 2014 are different
Congrats with your ‘17. I recently bought a black 2017 F 350 long bed Lariat. It has a professional delete, EGR, DPF, tune and S&B filter. Rancho lift in the front and air bags in the rear. My last 2 trucks were Dodge. I’ve never owned a Ford. I took it to my local diesel shop. Best diesel shop in NW WY. They only work on Power Stroke, Cummins and Duramax. They only like the Duramax, because it’s their biggest source of income. They also don’t like the newer Dodges. They said they prefer Power Stroke and especially the 2017. Last of the six speeds and has the Gen 3 Power Stroke. A big relief. This truck roars, the performance is amazing…
@@nick7.3they still have that POS turbo that likes to go out if worked too hard so no, it ain’t just an 11-12 issue
@@VincentGonzalez-k2j lol do your research. It is technically just an 11-12 issue. If you want to be smart then you need to realize every turbocharger eventually fails, every year model powerstroke, cummins, duramax, semi truck, tractor, or any turbocharged car. It’s only the 2011-2012 with bad bearing design
Thank you macintosh
what tires?
@TheoPritchard-be1fp 37x13.50 nitto trail grapplers
Got anything done under the hood?
@@fatherfirefighter7751 just an s&b intake, Egr delete, s+s cp4 bypass, and a ccv reroute
@nick7.3 I have an almost identical truck but it's a 15'. There's a few things I would highly suggest to add next that were super helpful in my build.
Just the right lift and tire size, these kids with there rubber band tires and sticking way past the fender walls, but yet they cry and moan because they got a ticket from highway patrol.
@@CoyoteWoods-fm3gj lol I personally cant stand wides id rather have it bone stock
You can get them mich cheaper with a lot of miles and they are probably maintained better then the low mileage garage qieen trucks
@@6.7Pstroke I dont really like high milage trucks, my next “newer” truck id want to have less than 40,000 miles on it tbh
@@nick7.3 I bought my 17 6.7 with 125k they are much cheaper after 100k and they are million miles trucks.
18k in 2 years ?.. I’ve doubled that in my first year of owning my 13 6.7..
@@6.7platty I have 2 trucks, I don’t necessarily make it a goal to put tons of miles on them
The same argument goes for driving a low mileage 2019-2023, the depreciation already happened and fell on the first owner. You can put 50k miles on em and break even basically driving the truck for nothing more than some fluids and routine maintenance. Furthermore the 2011-2016 trucks are nothing like the new ones bro the interiors way better, it’s not even close. These feel like a 98 Eddie Bauer ford explorer with an aftermarket head unit lol. Ain’t no way. If I’m dropping 50k on a truck I want all the modern amenities. Worse of all Those are rust magnets dude like the older 3rd gen rams that had the aftermarket fender flares added on to cover all the rust. What you have going for you is the price of entry that’s about it.
@@mendoafgoo420 lol. I love a 11-16 interior. A steel body doesnt cost 50k also. A alumiduty interior just looks different, it has no features or functions that a steel body doesnt have. Unless uou get a platinum with pano sunroof, which you should NEVER buy or massaging seats. A 98 explorer interior is night and day to these trucks. FB marketplace guys asking 50k for those 100,000 mi trucks, go buy one snd put 50k miles on it. I 1 billion percent guarantee you will loose your ass on it by a minimum of $15k not $0
@@mendoafgoo420 a low miles 19-23 6.7 costs over 60 grand, a used steel body cost under 30. In 20 years both trucks will be worth 10-20k, u will loose way less on steel body
Cp4 failure literally cost the same as bulletproof 6.0
@@Client9 actually it is way more, 11k to repair cp4 failure and a 6.0 head stud job is like 5-6k, BUT 6.0 5-6k vs $400 for a disaster prevention kit on a 6.7 so its way cheaper if you do preventive maintenance
@ when cp4 blows up it 14k to 15k with parts and labor for injector fuel lines and the pump itself
At price point of 6.0 rather have them easier to pay cash for and fix those problems oil cooler and heat gaskets u be in the truck for less than 6.7 still retardly expensive I got my 6.0 for 6k with blow head gaskets and putting a new oil cooler as well only in the truck for 13k
@ or 3500$ to fix myself. I have a disaster prevention kit, which lowers my bill to only $1,000 for just a pump. With no disaster kit and shop labor it is only 11k max
@ you could buy a higher miles 2011-2012 not broken for 13k, and just get in and drive
Still worth? No. Why? I still cant afford one and i love my 01 7.3l excursion too much 🤣🤣🤣
Same with our 2000 7.3, 25 yrs old, 296k miles. Never left us stranded. It has not been expensive to keep up with maintenance.
Or better yet, avoid a diesel engine.
@@jebediahnightlinger6357 I personally would never purchase a gas powered truck.
