    What's up people, just wanted to leave a few additional thoughts here.
    I. I know some of you don't like sponsorships. Completely understandable, but right now it's allowing me to continue putting as much effort as possible into every single video. My videos now make around $100-200 per video on average on Ad revenue which is way better than before (and I'm pumped about it!) but that's still nowhere near a livable amount of money. My filmmaker friends would laugh at me if I told them that's how much I make.
    II. One of the best ways to help me is to spread the word! If you enjoyed this video, share it with a friend that enjoys books or is interested in exploring books again (thank you).
    III. Feel free to use this thread as a place to share more book recommendations. If you name a book, give a reason for why you're recommending it.
    Thanks for watching! I really appreciate the support.

      I just got into reading too. :) I can recommend 'Why we sleep' by Matthew Walker. A great book about the benefits of sleep and the danger of missing sleep. Very easy to understand and the author explains why we should prioritize sleep more.

      Books aren’t restricted to nonfiction here, right? In which case: Turtles All The Way Down by John Green. This is my favorite John Green book, following the story of a girl that has OCD with an amazing journey. In my opinion, reading fictions help us to understand more about our feelings and humanity, that’s why I recommend this book. It’s a great peek into a whole other world for most of us.

      You are a creator.
      Your medium is video and you post here on RUclips. Watching ads are a way we are able to pay to enjoy your creations. You deserve to be paid so please keep adding ads and sponsorships.
      I was never a reader as a kid. Now, I love it.
      Audiobooks are my favorite but I also enjoy actual books and find the whole process of holding the book and writing in and highlighting a powerful way to deepen my understanding of the book. (I too read a lot of self-help/learning books.)
      My goal for 2019 is one book a week. I just finished book #26 so I’m well on my way.
      One favorite was How To Win Friends And Influence People. I listened to it and now I’m going through an older edition highlighting, underlining and making notes. Powerful information.
      Thanks for sharing a part of your journey/growth.

    I just can't get used to audiobooks. I find its much harder to concentrate on them. One moment of distraction and you are lost and its a bother to go back and rewind the audio and find where you were before you lost focus. When I read books its easy to just read back. Also it helps to focus on the book itself rather than getting distracted listening while doing other things.

    You’re a man liberated from the system. I first felt that way when I was 14 cuz I took an year off from school thanks to a knee injury. I went through a journey very similar to yours. I learned to play the guitar by watching videos of others play on RUclips. I picked up martial arts and delved into spirituality and connecting back with nature. Long story short, I found a way out. But I was forced back into the system when I was 16 and I’m 19 now. I found your channel yesterday and you have sparked something in me that I needed... It’s still a bunch of sparks. Perhaps eventually it’ll light a flame. One that will grow into the one it was meant to grow into. You are one of the few personalities I’ve discovered who, I feel, will leave a lasting impression on me. You recognise a spark like that because it’s very distinct. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Thank you... I need to take this opportunity. You’ve gone through a journey, more beautiful than mine. I hope to go through a similar one too :)

      oof, I've felt that. Perfectionism is a double-edged sword in my experience. It pushes you forward but can also hold you back when the fear of not being perfect rears its ugly head. Use it in small doses when you can but don't be afraid to give "suboptimal" work. What you may see as flawed and half-assed might just be more than people were expecting. I've learned this the hard way throughout my schooling. If everything has to be perfect by an impossible standard you set, you'll get nothing done - not really. You'll get wrapped up in the tiny details and lose sight of the bigger picture. This is just my personal experience tho.

    • @army_dreamer_8088

      That quote also caught my attention, especially the word "loser". I really do not value the winner/loser mentality that seems to prevail in our culture. I believe it's detrimental and misleading as well, since a person can only feel like a "winner" in an (imaginary) juxtaposition to a "loser", in this case someone who is "average". What is wrong with being average anyway and who dictates what that is? I wish the focus in society was more on self-development instead of self-improvement, because self-improvement implies there's something to fix. Other than that I did enjoy the video.

    This is such a great video! I feel quite lucky that I'm one of those people who's always found solace in books, especially throughout some testing teen years. Sometimes, though, I still find myself caught up in the digital world, and reading becomes less of a priority for me. I am able to figure out who I am through fiction, and this video has made me realise that perhaps reading less is where I started to lose my way.
    P.S. If you want a great fiction author recommendation, who keeps the magic alive both in his writing and in his worlds, I highly recommend Brandon Sanderson. Just saying :D

    I can relate to this in a specific way. I didn't like reading when I was a kid but now I'm obsessed. And no fiction. Only self-improvement.

    • @bageba8
      @bageba8 5 лет назад +2

      @HellVorn that's really sad that you think that.

    • @bageba8
      @bageba8 5 лет назад +3

      @HellVorn you can learn a ton from fiction! You can learn about people, communities, and cultures that are different from yours. You can learn about periods of history, certain events, or current trends in science, sociology, or psychology. You can learn about specific topics--for example, in a novel where the main character is an entomologist, you will learn a lot about insects. You can learn about philosophy through fiction. You also hone your skill of empathy by reading fiction, while at the same time improving your vocabulary and verbal fluency, not to mention your emotional intelligence. And on top of all that, it is art, so while you learn you get to appreciate art, just in the same way you'd appreciate music or a beautiful painting, and all while taking a psychologically rejuvenating (free and easily portionable) vacation from your daily life. There is so incredibly much to be gained from fiction!

    • @bageba8
      @bageba8 5 лет назад +2

      @HellVorn well, I disagree and that's ok. I read nonfiction as well--I read a lot--and I think they are both separately and extremely valuable.

      @@stonedagger2031 There's also some really good audiobooks out there! Like ones with full cast productions, and many books read by the author themselves give you just a little extra insight into the story just by their inflections at certain parts. And you can't read a print book while driving, which for a lot of people (like me) with daily commutes is a lot of reading time to just give up on.

    *Emotional incentive* has to be present, in order to read books.
    That comes with clear intentions on why we want to invest our time in reading.
    Some like to distract themselves but as we know it,
    *Self-Improvement* genre has exploded with digitisation and getting a hands-on value from books is a great reason for people to start reading again.
