This guy was tremendous - I don't know why he feels that he is ignored by fans ? A great champion with awesome jab, superb chin and determination. You don't get over 20 defences unless you're a great but he shouldn't be so defensive about his time as champ. Also his fight against Tyson was a courageous display.

Joe Frazier and Larry Holmes are genuine guys. Ali was wrong to call Joe an Uncle Tom, Ignorant, and a Gorilla. That was fucked up! I believe later on Ali apologized but he'd really hurt Joe and his kids. Ali crossed the line there!!! Anyway I love Ali just the same. Larry don't lie, it's not in his DNA. BTW Larry won the championship from Norton and the interviewer should have done a bit of research!!!

I am so sick of the claim that Larry never got the credit he deserved, no one has ever taken anything away from him but the fact is that he had a persona that turned people off and he never fought the pantheon of greats just made people not care. He beat a few washed up people but his time at champ never had great contenders. Larry is one heck of a boxer and he could take a punch, had he started earlier things might have been different but no one has taken anything away from him, people just don't care...but you can't take away his legacy and time as the champ.

I agree. Larry Holmes was a jealous and bitter man. He is the only heavyweight champion who had to use thumb less boxing gloves. He blames his lack of popularity on Ali , however ,in 7 years as champion, he only had 2 pay per view fights! Who's fault was that Larry. Homles was boring and didn't know how to sell himself to the public. To say he was boring is an understatement. He should have taken some of that money and bought himself a personality. Also Ken Norton should have been given a rematch.
