The famous Orient Express train was late only once. It happened at the Belgrade railway station in 1928. In France at that time, the tenth anniversary of the allied victory in the First World War was celebrated. For that occasion, a train was sent to Belgrade to transport Serbian officials invited to participate in the celebration. Generals, politicians, ex-soldiers were boarding... The French ambassador, who attended the send-off, happened to see Milunka Savić on the platform. She stood next to the train and looked at her war comrades. Amazed, he asked why she wasn't going on this trip too. "I don't have money for that," answered Milunka modestly. His Excellency and the assembled citizens could not allow that. In front of them stood the great Milunka Savić. The woman with the most decorations in the history of warfare.
