I actually started with 70-200 for street photography cuz it gives me a distance from my subject (as to appears intrusive) and also mostly cuz I am too awkward/afraid to approach my subjects. Aside, the results as how it condenses into your subject is amazing and it perfectly achieve my style of undocumented photography.
damn I need to get a tele lense. my 85mm is fine, but I love the framing you get with your lense. so good for portraits and you can shoot people without them recognizing you 😅
Actually quite the opposite, telephoto lens like this one actually simplifies your photography, making it easier to compose. That’s why you never (probably not) use wide angle lens for potrait, it will make the subject less interesting.
This is crazy! I was in a photo walk with some buddies right where you were shooting. We walked past you and you even photographed one of my friends. We were too shy to say hi 😅
I love all the interactions you have with the people around you, you are so genuine and manage to squeeze real sincerity into even the shortest of meetings.
Love this focal length zoom for photography with a 2.8 aperture. Wish I owned one myself. I have an Olympus 75 mm (150 mm FF) 1.8 prime that is somewhat similar.
Pierre I have a sudden addiction to your videos. Yesterday evening I watched your full 2 hours in NY. Now I'm on a binge of multiple shorter videos. I am hooked to your vibe, your positive energy. It gives off right through the screen. Also, 26:58 Calling the NSX a Ferrari. Well, it sure was a Ferrari beater at the time :D
Love the positivity. Also, can't imagine directing people around for your photo needs - pro models, sure. Stangers, just wouldn't feel comfortable. Pretty sure the 'Ferrari' was an older Acura NSX.
Hey Pierre! Love your vids, but just wanted to let you know the red car that passed is an NSX(not a Ferrari). However the body kit they had did make it have those aggressive Ferrari-esque lines
70-180 here! It’s more like across-the-street photography. Really love how you can connect to people while out shooting. We all get those people but you handle it better than I currently do. I aspire to be as easy going as you!
Because of Pierre i started to use a Telephoto lens. Im using a 75 - 300mm by canon on my Canon m6. It feel so good when im zooming to the subject espacially on the street or nature.
Truely loved the one with the mother holding her child while he is peeing, perfect in B&W, kinda old school streetphotography. I’ve registered to the workshop as soon as it was opened, very excited to learn with you ! La bise de Paris ;)
honestly with the amount of nft ads i've seen on instagram that are complete scams/money grabs i completely ignore anything nft related. to me buying an image to "own" it isn't worth anything. your pictures on the other hand are amazing and i might check them out
Hi very good videos, I realize part of taking street photography pics is also being comfortable and not worrying what other people would think or the subject of whom you are taking pics of from afar. But it’s a delicate thing because some people may not like getting their pics taken? And I was meaning to ask you do you feel a little unsafe walking around with an expensive lens? Or being mugged? When you were walking thru that alley way and saying gritty is good, gritty can also put you in a compromising vulnerable position, lol well I admire your sense of freedom and bravery and that is what photography is all about. I also purchased a Sony 70-200 GM OSS II 2.8, and I live in NYC. So I will be having it in my bag and will take it out when I see a good shot, lol, but I know it defeats the purpose,it’s better to have it ready when taking a shot, but it’s a $3,000 lens lol sooo I will be prudent with it, and I’ll also use my Voigtländer APO 50mm F2.0 for other street shots or the Voigtländer 40mm F1.2. Which both are excellent. But yes the newer Sony 70-200 GM2 is amazing and lighter, I love it. I really like your videos and it’s funny how people already recognize you. Didn’t think alley ways with the sun beaming would make such a great shot. All you need is an alley cat or a drug bust going down, lol k to it ez
Have you tried using telephoto prime lenses for street photography? That would be an interesting idea for videos. Would love to see something like a 85mm f/1.4 only streetphotography and how you would get the most out of it. You have always been inspirational, love your work!! Thanks!
Nice video man. I'm in quarantine now and getting bored, but after watching your video i feel more good and happy.... hope to see more videos like this in future... lots of love from Maldives 🇲🇻❤️👊
I was today also on a street walk like Saturday. Just sooooooooo good lighting it just was like your Sunset. Love those warm good summer vibes and we in Germany got no real summer. The last week was the second week we had some really good summer weather. So I don’t wanna miss it 😬 love those street povs ✌🏻👍🏻👌🏻
This video is so inspiring, I just bought that lens after so much dreaming about it. I am just going to go out now and try some similar shots! I am in Madrid right now. Thanks a lot for sharing this! :)
For 20 years of journalism (news/sports), the 70-200 F/2.8 was my go-to lens. The lens is shot to hell (an old Sigma, been rebuilt twice, no life left in it) and I think I may replace it soon, even though I am no longer in that (hellish) biz.
While making street photos, often getting asked if im a kind of a journalist or smth else. When they get answer "nah, this is just for fun" i literally can see "what a weirdo" in their eyes. Also secretly shooting people calls weird looks from other people. And when im lucky enough to be caught by a person, who got photographed, im getting a person, who looks like he gonna beat this shit out of me. Damn... CIS people are too angry most of the time. Im not self-assured person and I dont know how to overcome all of this
What I do is turn else where and shoot other directions that way they’ll know you’re just shooting anything in general also to reassure them you’re not stolking them or anything creepy.
I love photographers. I love taking pictures too❤️ Aspiring photographer here❤️❤️❤️❤️I am 23 yeras old❤️ I enjoyed this video❤️ Love from the PHILIPPINES ❤️❤️❤️❤️
2:20 ALL THA TTIME you were there behind that sign taking photos of that guy, he probably thought someone had him followed LOL. i'd be mad freaked out XD
Seems like they clean the streets of Chicago as often the as they do Toronto lol. Great video Pierre. We should all hope to be recognized on streets like you are.
i enjoy that in the city 70-200mm is considered a super zoom telephoto meanwhile im out in midwest country wishing I had a 600mm+ lens at all times lol
Omg! you were in Tanzania? My home country! That's the first thing that I heard 🇹🇿😂🙌 Hope you enjoyed it here. Cooped up in arusha, it's easy to get to waterfalls, wild parks, and even a stroll through town in a day. Need to know the locals for that perk too hahaha Cheers to your videos and many more
At 26:56 that I think is an Acura NSX. If I didn't know I'd confuse it for a Ferrari to lol. Not tryin'a be a smartass though, I love the videos and photos keep it up!!
Could you please include your exposure settings next video? It's awesome seeing what iso/aperture you would use for each setting. Also how hard you can push your camera. Thanks
this is most likely staying at f2.8 at sunset like this shutter is around 1/700-1/1200 and iso around 400-800. i have same lense for streetphotography but canon 70-200mm f2.8 iii
hey pierre, if you had the budget for a 70-200 f/4 and you only do photography as a hobby, would you get the f/4 or save up until you have enough for the f/2.8?
Pierre - love the video and its adaptability to do Street Portraits. The telephoto can be fun and adaptable I find to do something different with my composition and still allows you to do landscape - wish I had that Fstop - I have a Nikkor 18-300mm DX on my Nikon Z6ii - will have to save up or buy an FX.
Keep in mind with an aps-c multiply the lens length and f/number with the crop factor. 1.5x or 1.6x. This is what the lens will act like. Let's say a 100mm f/2.0 lens will act on a 1.6x crop aps-c body like a 160mm f/3.2 lens would on a full frame body.

Shooting with telephoto in the street is fun but arms will be suffering
@@KgerShyang hi
THATS US in that MIATA LOL...that was so much fun seeing you!!
Love the car, It's clean 👌 Also those round ring lights make the Miata twice as happy 😁
Absolutely gorgeous car. All it took was one glimpse in the thumbnail and I had to click the video. Miatas have that effect on you.

Agreed. I get a lot more cool photos with a medium telephoto.
@@latortuga_rl backgrounds are more compressed and much less of it packed into an image
Although I really like wides, I kinda agree. Except if the background is interesting, and a part of the story.
I picked up the 85 mm portrait lense and it's sooo nice, everyone is loving having there photos taken
@Damian Wójcikiewicz everything over 50mm is medium telephoto.

Very difficult to shoot street with that focal length as a prime.

I can't help but think how a straight forward shot of the couple walking towards or down the alley with the sun behind them would have been epic.
Your strength is much higher than mine! My arms tend to shake when i’m shooting with this lens! Props to you!
Shoutout to the people who gave him their valuable time for some dope ahh pics in return.

Why does the guy at 18:10 give off huge Casey neistat vibes? Lmao
They say that photos do not reflect the impressions of life like a recorded film, but in this case one such photo expresses more than a movie.
This was more like a photo shoot on the street with the first couple than street photography.

One advice when you walk don't hold your camera, but hold your lense when you use a 70-200mm. It,s better for your camera.
