  • The Queen Mother, otherwise known as Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was born in 1900, under the reign of Queen Victoria. Since then she has lived under 2 more kings and a queen, more monarchs than most people will see in a lifetime. She has been described as a symbol of regal grace and feminine charm, possessing a core of steel and enduring toughness. Born into the aristocratic Bowes-Lyon family, she spent most of her life in royal duty, refusing to retire even at the age of 99. She married King George VI, and despite initial hesitations, their marriage was seen as a devoted and supportive partnership.
The abdication of King Edward VIII thrust them into unexpected roles as the new monarch and queen consort. Despite challenges such as World War II and family dramas, including Princess Margaret's romantic entanglements, the Queen Mother remained a steadfast figure, devoted to her family and duty, even in her later years.

The Queen Mother hasn't been forgotten. Why would you say that?

No she hasn't and the memories aren't all pleasant.

She wasn't "really beautiful", even for standards of the days. I don't understand why journalists and historians keep referring to her as a beauty.
