- This is how I make paraffin candle from home. This easy, step-by-step tutorial will guide you in how to make your first candle.
Paraffin candles are what the likes of Jo Malone and Bath & Bodyworks use in their candles because of the amazing scent throw you can achieve.
In the recent years paraffin wax seems to received bad press, however I have come to the conclusion from my research that I am happy to burn paraffin candles at home and therefore make them. You can find some reading material to help you make up your mind. If you do choose to make a paraffin candle you can find my step-by-step guide in the link below.

This is so fun to watch. Also knowing you literally need minimal equipment to get exactly what you want. The wooden lid is def a nice touch.
I’ve never made candles before and never really thought about the process. I found this video to be very informative and calming. Throughly enjoyed it and I really wanna smell the Taurus candle now.
Candle making seems so calming and like it would be a really relaxing date idea too i was thinking about that today. And the fact that you can make your own keys you be super flexible
Love this! The finished and labelled candle looked so good.
Outstanding! I have been making candles for about a year and a half, and I was searching through a bunch of candlemaking videos this morning. Yours is the best, and I’m going to follow you. I’ve always worked with soy, but I’m going to start blending soy with paraffin just to see what I can get.
You really made candle making look like its simple to follow. The lid defiantly was the right call. Your label is very creative and relevant.
I love how you are very informative. I can tell you done your research on candles. Your also precise too with each step you take. I am loving the logo too. 🥰🌻
ive watched hundreds of these videos and this is the ONLY one ive found in grams!! THANK YOU!!!!
Haha metric units all the way! It's the best way to make candles imo!
I'm a Taurus and can't wait to order the Taurus candle! The scent sounds amazing!
Aww thank you lovey! I hope you like it! Not long left to launch 😊
My bestfriend is trying to start her own candle business. She had made a candle but I had to let her know she needed to add more scent because you can hardly smell it. I love for candles that can fill a room with scent. So i know she would find this video helpful. The candle turned out pretty good.
Oh I love candles but I've never thought about making my own. This video was so informative I think I might have to give it a try!
This is the best video on how to make candles. The others just say add 10%, pour at pouring temperature and I just didn't understand how to calculate any of that. You explained it perfectly, tysm.
Oh wow, thank you so much! What a lovely comment. I really appreciate it. I'm glad it helped you out. Good luck with your candle making!
Look easy enough. Thanks. I’ll add candles to my soap line 😊
Such an informative video! As a candle maker (for hubby) myself, I really appreciated your perspective on paraffin wax as well as the suggestion to use the wick converter. Awesome labels and all the best on your launch! 💛💛💛
Ah glad you found it informative! Yeah, I've seen lots of makers feel pressure to only use soy, so I just wanted to put it out there that whichever you choose will be fine. Thank you so much, glad you like the labels and thank you for the wishes :)
This was fun to watch! I’ve made a few candles in the past but never used paraffin wax, only soy wax! Love how they turned out! I’m sure they smell amazing!
Ooh cool soy is lovely too! Thank you, glad you like joe tutu turned out. ❤️
I absolutely love the label! It’s so unique. I really enjoyed your video
Aww yay! I’m so pleased. I was so happy with the way they turned out 😊 Glad you enjoyed the video 🥰
Hello! Thanks God I found your channel... I'm studying all about candles so I can start this business, I guess I'll have to start making my candles with paraffin for now, since its the only wax type available around in my little country . Thanks so much for all your tips God bless you.
Thank you for an amazing video! I love your labels!!
Aww no worries 🥰 Thank you so much for your kind words. Aww yay! Thank you, so happy you like them!
I really enjoy your candle making video, I like how you break it down step by step and show us all products you'd recommend to make them. im hoping on doing some with my kiddos for there break soon. I've got everything you've listed in my amazon cart ready to purchase hopefully soon.
Ah that's brilliant, I think both you and the kiddie would love this. It's super satisfying to see the end result. Let me know how it goes :)
This was cool to watch! I’ve never made candles before because I’m so bad at anything crafty but this looks like fun!
Aww I was the same, thought I wasn't crafty but I found candles a lot easier. It's not as precise as drawing etc. Glad you enjoyed watching!
As a Taurus, the description you have about the Dark Honey and Tobacco scent did peak my interest. I would like to buy that scent.
Brilliant! I’m a Taurus too, it definitely peaked my interest! It’s available on the site 🥰
Love the zodiac candle.. im a Sagittarius! ♐ 🤪 Thanks for showing me how to make a paraffin candle.. you made it look so easy to do! I def have to try this out!❤
I absolutely love candles! Ive never considered makn any myself. Id prob mess up smthn n it’ll b lopsided. Lol Urs came out perfect.👌🏾 N the label is beautiful.😍
this was so interesting! I've never made a candle before, but it's still interesting esp using the wick maker thing
Definitely give it a go if you can. It’s a lovely winter activity!
I'm a Taurus and would love the scent as well.
Brilliant, it makes me feel way more settled knowing other Taurus' will like it!
OMG You are a life saver thank you so much for this beautiful video ❣️
Aww thank you so much! So glad it's helped you!!
Thank you, can i mix paraffin wax with something else to have more wax ?
Great video, I love the label, it's so pretty and just wicked! I'm a Taurus too 😁 thanks for the tips, really useful video
Aww thank you so much! That's so motivating for me :) Hehe we are aligned, I love horoscopes so much.
whoa! glad to find this video, very informative, thumbs up...
Thank you so much! Good luck on your candle making journey!
My best friend has been super into making her own candles recently and I find the process so interesting. I definitely wanna share this video with her - it came out so nicely! BTW, your hair actually looks super cute (no mop hair)😂🤗
Ooh lovely! It is really interesting a lot more to it than I first thought! Aww really sweet of you to say, I appreciate it 😊
Candle queen! Every time I see one of your videos I think I should really get into making my own candles, especially since I find extreme scents make me nauseous and this way I can control how much they smell. I love your old school Instagram graphic 😜
Ahh definitely go for it. It is way more controllable so I'm sure it'll help you loads and choose non-offensive scents. Haha thanks, I love the old graphic, so happy Instagram let us change the graphics of the app now, it's so cool!
Hey Ishani I’m trying make a candle biz my self, and i made my first candle the other day and they where great but it was really difficult to clean the, do you think you could do a demo on it. Thank you
Hi Ishani! Thank you so much for all your infos. Could I please ask you, when you use soy wax, which kind of soy wax are you using? I am also a candle shack buyer but I still haven't try the golden brands cs 41. Thank you sooo much, you have such a great energy !!!!!
Very informative!! Can u give some tips for the dip around the wick?
Thanks so much! So I either do a double pour or I use a heat gun to either smooth the top or preheat the jar.
I want to make candles so bad! I have way too many already but now I know what I will do in the future once my jars melt down away, it takes so long to do even that though ahah
Hia, I know this video is a year old but I was wondering if you'd still recommend this wax? I'm looking for a new wax for my candles as 464 isn't working for me and wanted to ask before I purchased it 😊
New subscriber here, very informative video. I punched the air, yes when you work out your FO to the amount of wax that you are using. I had a bit of a discussion on a Facebook page about working out the correct percentage, for the amount of grams you use and was laugh at by two young ladies, telling myself that my math was incorrect. Now l feel ready to try my hand at this new hobby, just need to get my hands on some wax.
Thank you so much for supporting my channel. Haha I know these candle FB groups can be intense. Yeah, it makes sense for me to do it this way. Tell me about it, the wax shortage is so hard.
i like your video verry much, nice info !! also i love the beat : can i have the beat plzzz or where did you get it !!
Where do we get the scent that sounds so yummy!!
Hi Ishani, as someone very new to candle making (with the aim to one day open my own small business!), I've found your videos so incredibly useful and informative - thank you for sharing your tips and insights!
When it comes to testing fragrances to find the best % for fragrance load, I wondered if you always tested with 10% in the first instance or if you started lower and increased % as required? I understand some fragrances may require a higher load than others, so I'm trying to wrap my head round what would be a good starting point so my testing is more meaningful.
P.S. I purchased your Taurus candle as a gift for a friend and it smells divine!
Hi Rachael! Thank you so much for your kind words 🥰 I’m glad you’ve found them useful. Aww thank you for supporting my business, I’m glad you liked the smell ❤️
So now I actually test two at a time with 8% and 10% load, when I first started out I was going directly to 10%. This is if I know what the general wick size is (like if it’s the standard container I use). If it’s a new container and I’m testing out wicks then I keep fragrance load consistent for all jars at 8%.
Hope that helps! Let me know if I you have any more questions. Thank you again so much for everything ❤️
Hi, your video is great! I am just starting with this and got a question. Could i use something else instead of the heating device you used to warm up the container? Maybe a hairdryer?
Hello, thank you so much!
You could do, or put them in the oven or if the jars are not painted a warm water bath works too!x
Great video, I’m an Aquarius so I’m interested to know what mine would be.
Me too
Nice work sister. Love that British accent lol.
Wait what you have your own candle range / brand? Omg I thought you do this out of passion and just came to know youre a professional in this💕 and its amazing seeing you grow youre almost about to hit 1k, my advance wishes for that ☺️ i stayed till the end, the recipe looks quite simple to make..! Ive always been thinking of making candles but I am kinda lazy😭 I'm a Taurus 💕
Haha, well since the lockdowns in the UK happened I decided I wanted to try something fun at home. I enjoyed it so much I decided to open my own business. I've enjoyed the business side so much! Oh cool a fellow Taurus, that's brilliant. Aww thanks, I'm excited to reach 1K, I've enjoyed making videos again too. Haha I'm glad it looks simple, it took sooo much testing to get to this point. There are lots of parameters to consider. Maybe a kit would be a good option for you :)
Can we just yluse straight parrafin wax and still be successful?
Hi great video can I ask what would you do if your container is tin and would your recommend heating that up I’m failing so far with soy and coconut wax they don’t melt very well
Hi Jalisa, your wax should be fully melted before pouring into the tin. Heating the tin helps the candle to stick to the sides of the tin so it does not come up. Hope that helps! Thank you :)
@@IshaniParbhoo thank you very much 😊
How long can you leave the melted wax sitting there in pot cooling without stirring? I’m scared it’ll start forming wax
This was beautifully done and so is your website! Is this the wax that you still currently use? I am based in USA but I would love to order from you.
Hey lovely, omg thank you so much! That's so kind of you to say. Yes, it is the wax I still use, it's so good! Ah, I do ship there but the postage is so expensive! Hoping to launch there soon :)
What did you use to heat the jar with?
A heat gun 😊
The wax I made went into the glass bottles right now under the wax in the middle of the thread. The candle went down in the middle, why?
I got sone coconut oil on my beads it must have melted out of the bag. Will paraffin wax still be okay to make candles
What did u stick the TAB with ??
Hey do you mean the wick? I use a glue gun!
Can I use doTERRA essential oils that give them a fragrance?
Hey, I would always suggest to get essential oils from candle suppliers as they’ve been tested. I’ve not tried do Terra so wouldn’t be able to comment unfortunately.
What is the name of the wax blend you said you use
Hey it’s called CS2 from candle shack.
Can you use a blow drier to heat up the jar ?
Hey! I’ve not tried using a blow drier, I would think it may be ok, if you have a radiator at home putting them on the radiator works really well too!
@@IshaniParbhoo thank you so much that was very helpful have a nice day ❤️
My wax sinks in after it gets cold.
What do i do?
Hi Ishani, I've learned a lot from your channel!
I've got a quite a few questions.. any you have time to answer will be much appreciated!
1. what wax suppliers would you recommend? (I'm in England too) And do you use paraffin blends or just paraffin? 2. I notice the Amazon stickers are a lot cheaper than the candle shack ones, do you know if they're reliable?
3. can you recommend a good brand of Amazon vinyl gloves?
4. Are basic, lidded glass jam jars popular vessels or do people prefer to buy open top glass vessels?
Thank you and I look forward to more vids.
Wick-making might be a good subject for you to talk about. I don't see that many people talking about it. After much searching around town for crimping pliers I ended up on Amazon!
Hello, Awesome! So pleased you've learnt a lot :)
Sure!
1. I use CS2 from Candle Shack. It's a paraffin/vegetable wax blend.
2. I've not used stickers from Amazon. Generally I prefer to buy my supplies from candle making suppliers as I find the quality is much better.
3. I like these gloves: amzn.to/3BweUpf
4. My best advice is to understand who your customer is. My customers like open glass vessels but I can't say that across the board everyone likes it. I would say it's important to conduct some market research and see where your idea fits :)
Thanks for the recommendation of wick making! It's a great topic! I appreciate it!!x
@@IshaniParbhoo Great, thanks Ishani, that is very helpful!
I just thought, you might be interested in marketing imagery ideas from Tarot. There is a Tarot pack called the Thoth Tarot, and it has correspondences between zodiac signs and Tarot cards.
Your Copycats won't be able to keep up!
This is a very informative video and your label is pretty. The reading material information that is listed is it listing for all? I do enjoy your videos. And on your recipe, you said to preheat the container in the oven but on what degrees? Thank you for sharing. :-)
Aww glad you found it informative and that you like the label 😊 sorry what do you mean listing for all? Let me know anymore info you feel is needed, happy to update it. Pre-heat the jar to 50 degrees Celsius. I’ll add that in tomorrow 😊 Hope you’re doing well!x

Sorry, the website reading material on cancer & candle information: www.nhs.uk/news/cancer/candle... Do you have a U.S. website?
@@yvettebooth67 Oh right, the nhs website is talking about the US studies conducted. So to me it doesn't necessarily have to be a US or UK website as the information presented talks about the studies that have been done to date (studies conducted in the US). The NHS is the national health service which provides free healthcare to all UK citizens so I thought it's the most reliable website to reference as it's unbiased and focused on human health. I hope that helps. Here is another website I came across that may be of interest too whitemagickalchemy.blogspot.com/2011/08/soy-vs-paraffin-wax-facts-and-myths.html?m=1&fbclid=IwAR39txxFRhvNIECNl_4Oc1GbduBWmQBGE3-HJUW7CfT4b36nsVleVA6MwmU

Thank you so much 💓
What is the recommended fragrance load for semi refined paraffin wax?
I would start at 8% load and test upwards to 10% and downwards to 6%.
@@IshaniParbhoo I did a 10% last night and the oil didn't mix with the wax even after 12 hours of sitting in the mould. Do you suggest a 6% or will that be too low? Thank you for responding 🤍
@@sakinafatima10 add stearic acid
I would love to try the dark honey and tobacco but they do not deliver to the us
Aww no that's such a shame! Perhaps there is an equivalent? It's meant to be a dupe for Tom Ford.x
i would love to see how it burns
Can i know da formula of essential oil for wax ??
I created a video about essential oils here: ruclips.net/video/G42ivbBdIHY/видео.html
Thank You
How do I make paraffin burn longer?
Hello, it really comes down to trialing different wicks and comparing the burn rate for each wick.
Or you can blend the wax with another type of wax
im a taurus and i got paraffin wax for the first time instead of soy and thats why im watching this sksksks
vid 4:02 Please note that If you put 18 gr fragrance oil and 180gr wax for 10% fragrance load the result is 9% but not 10%.
How did your parafin wax candle becomes so creamy looking?

...
Please excuse my mop hair in this video haha. If you would like to know how to make paraffin wax melts, I have a tutorial of how you can make them: ruclips.net/video/a6fVJ2zUlFI/видео.html 😊
How did you manage to get 180g for the 30cl? I’m just starting out and everywhere I’ve looked has said 30cl = 300ml x10% FL so 270ml/224g wax and 30ml of FL. but your the only person I’ve seen do 180g for a 30cl but seems to have worked! Please help!
From an audience targetting perspective, I'm slightly concerned you might be limiting your conversion rate with the Zodiac line. Most people will just go ahead and check out their own star sign, which will be called The Taurus Blend or The Leo Blend or whatever, and when they read the detailed product information they'll find out what the scent details are. And that may or may not be something that they're interested in, scent wise (most people who are interested in buying expensive scented candles have at least some idea of which kinds of fragrance notes interest them). And most people are not going to go clicking through all twelve product pages to read the detailed description and find something they like. If the product names were descriptive though, it would be easier for people to identify what they're interested in. So for a bad example, if it were to be called something like "Sunset in Bali" (something less crap than that) then people would know to expect coconut and lime, or if it were called Tuscan Retreat (something less crap than that) they would know to expect cedarwood and bergamot or whatever, and then people could directly go to the product pages they're interested in to read the scent details and confirm whether it's what they want or not - they would have to do a lot less clicking and therefore they're more likely to convert to a sale.
I'm sorry this is totally not advice you ever asked for and I hope I've not been offensive! Thanks for the helpful video, and I'm excited to make my first lavender scented candle!
Hi, lovely thanks for such a detailed response! I totally understand what you mean and it was something I was concerned about so I have a DIY version, which allows the customer to choose their scent. So they can still have the aesthetic with the scent the choose :) It's been 7 days since launch though and surprisingly from the sales I've had, only one has requested a different scent. What I'm planning to do it highlight the DIY option to entice anyone who might be on the fence. Aww brilliant excited to see how you get on with your lavender candle :)
@@IshaniParbhoo That's a brilliant idea! More visibility of that option will definitely get more clicks. All the best, I'm sure they'll fly off the shelves.
It's really not that deep. 🤦🏽♀️
