    You make band-making look easy. What glue do you use?

    • @elenashvabmillinery
      @elenashvabmillinery  2 года назад +2

      Thank you! The technique is very easy to use once you practice 😊 I am using UHU glue, its perfect for fabrics, dries clear and very strong.

    What materials were you using to make the hat band?

    • @elenashvabmillinery
      @elenashvabmillinery  2 года назад

      For this video tutorial I am using a petersham ribbon. But you can try all sorts of ribbons available to you. Its easier to work with natural fiber materials and should be more careful with synthetic fibre as they might burn under heat of the iron. Hope. That helps and thank you for watching my hat making video tutorials 😊

    Hi! This is really helpful but could you tell me if I can use ordinary ribbon, not petersham?

    • @elenashvabmillinery
      @elenashvabmillinery  2 года назад +3

      Hi Penelope, thank you for watching my hat tutorials.
      Yes absolutely you can use other ribbons. The reason i prefer petershams is that they are easier to use as they are made of cotton.
      But you can easily use other ribbons with same techniques shown in the video.
      Hope that helps,
      Elena xx

      Is Petersham the same as grosgrain ribbon (we call in the States?)

    • @KreativeKarenA
      @KreativeKarenA 6 месяцев назад

      @@Violet_Lotus_ I am thinking that it is as I sit here a year after your question thinking the same thing. It does come in both poly and cotton fabrication

    I guess to make the bow flats would you iron it and stitch or….

    • @elenashvabmillinery
      @elenashvabmillinery  3 года назад +1

      Hi, I would not iron the bow as it will make it completely flat. I would just stitch it, however that’s a personal choice. Hope that helps!

    my ribbon won't curve

    • @elenashvabmillinery
      @elenashvabmillinery  2 года назад

      Sorry to hear that. What type of ribbon are you using? Some synthetic fabrics much harder to curve and needs more time and patience. Try to manipulate the ribbon by creating a bigger curve or check the heat level of the iron (medium heat i find more effective but also depends what fabric you are using).
      Best of luck!
