$50 ALIEXPRESS Pike fishing challenge! (full setup for under $50)

- I'm a big fan of looking at really cheap products on aliexpress so I decided to challenge myself to buying a full set up, rod, reel, line and lures for under $50 and seeing if it would be cut out for pike fishing. Will it work? or is it just a waste of money buying such cheap fishing stuff?

You can use your landing net to retrieve lures in shallow water. Just take your landing net and run it down the line to where the lure is stuck. When you feel the net hit the lure, shake the net around. With any luck the hooks will get stuck in the net and you can then pull the lure out. Works best with those old school rope type landing nets. I've saved many a lure like this and it's much easier than I'm making it sound.

Not wanna be rude but i never used anything more expensive than 50-60$ and i never had any problems with Pike up to 10kg (never got a bigger one), today is the day that i am going to invest in a reel and rod around 150-200$ and i wonder if i will notice any difference 🤔
And what did you notice?
At Angling Direct I picked up a £25 spinning rod, a £20 reel with 10lb braid on.
I bought it on a trip when I decided I fancied a few casts.
It's actually ended up as a pretty decent setup.
I wanted to start fishing with a Baitcaster but don’t want to spend a lot of money. If u don’t ever use that rod and reel do u reckon I could have it.if not that’s fine.😅

I bought a bs200 reel from Ali Express and it works very well, normaly i fish with the Daiwa Laguna but the Ali reel still working after a year, i guess you have a little bit of luck with that cheap reels, the rod was broken before i went fishing so that was not a succes 😁
I actually have this reel, I bought it a few months ago and its already unusable. The biggest problem was that the spool tension was inconsistent so I was getting backslashes.
Verdict? Combo looked great minus the reel sounded like it had gravel in place of ball bearings 😂
What’s about landing net?
Would it be worth it for somone new to baitcasters who wanna test one out? If not could you recommend one that won't break the bank?
Is that a stretch of the aire and Calder canal?

You could use that rod as a saltwater jigging rod with how soft it is 😂

the chinese have pretty decent fishing gear for so cheap. Got myself a BFS setup from aliexpress and im loving it.
for 50 I can get good setup at local store... spinning rod & reel (5.5kg brake), 8 braided line, hooks, lures and wire leaders... I know that for sure because this was my first setup and I already got a lot of fish on it
Have you ever been fishing for perch and a pike just stole the fish when you were bringing in? It happened to me it was a good perch about 1 and half pounds!😂😂
My mate did that. BUT he hooked a big salmon, about 5 - 6 pounds and a massive pike came and grabbet it. When he finaly managed to get the pike off, the salmon was just bits left of it 😂

Did you have to pay import tax on all the stuff as lookinh at buying some bfs stuff rod reel etc but wasn't sure on the import tax 🤔

got an ugly stik 6ft 4 for £30 and a 20 quid reel. close enough :) minus the lures etc lol
Did you find that lure you got from Ali express just retrieved on its side? I have a few exactly the same and they all come in crap

Be good if it wasnt for money to do reviews on few price range best for the money.. I'm new to these got a promax for my first but will no doubt in time be looking for a heavier rod and reel combo for around 200
