The first album I ever owned. I was 11. I happened to have a little money in my pocket during a visit to Ames, so I went into the electronics department and came out with this. I don't have the CD anymore, but I remember it fondly and still put on a few of the songs from time to time.
BNL are one of the most fun bands I've ever known. I love that their tongue is firmly in cheek, on this video and in general! Does anyone else find it a bit eerie that Steven Page "quits" the band in this video?
My mon served this band at there VERY FIRST SHOW publicly, the battle of the bands in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. My home town! She worked the mini doughnut stand at the PNE. Any fellow Canadians from Vancouver respond! Love be to all! By the way, the battle of the bands was hosted at the PNE
Core Memory Unlocked: With the support of family and friends, even a kid who listens to this song repeatedly knows there is hope even in the roughest eddies of manic depression God damn, I can't believe how lucky I've been; happy early Thanksgiving :)
LOL, one of the director tags has J. Sakic on camera... just noticed after about 12 years of watching and playing along to the video. Loved when my band covered this tune... so much fun.
A band with a sense of humour is getting to be a rare commodity these days!. First saw these guys play "King Tut's" in Glasgow years ago and they were still wacky back then. Great song and video.
You can tell I'm a big BNL fan when at the end when they say "say it again" I automatically think of "E L W Y N that's elwyn say it again E L W Y N that's elwyn." :D
BNL is the perfect representation of Canadians. We don't take ourselves too seriously and we don't care what others think of us and we're free to just let loose and have fun.
"Go to the woods for wisdom, and college for an experience" - Throeau. While although economy has taken damage (especially in 2008) it is debatable whether a degree is necessary. It is a matter of - decent income and perhaps a little more modest living VS debt and a piece of paper that does not guarantee lots of money to pay it off.

This was also one of the first CD's I ever bought. I was 10 or 11 too.
The golden days.
"Ames"
that takes me back
This is my favorite song from Barenaked Ladies.
10 years later and I'm still in love with this band!
Are u still in love with them ?
How could you not be
@@starlambert7879 I think he meant in love with their new stuff
31 years and counting for me
I checked out this CD from my public library when I was 11 years old and never returned it
Such a rebel against the library but such a legend since it was BNL

And how it was storyboarded as it was happening. Very meta and somewhat prophetic in hindsight.
Why do I love the part after Steven says “I would”, and it is just the drums so much?
man i love them i used to listen to them when i was like 7 lol and still do they never grow old
I love this song! Brilliant for playing really loudly around town in your friend's dad's convertable, lol....
the storyboard page of Steve shouting "I Quit!", foreshadowing much?
Loved the shots of BNL in classic commercials, so quick and they're gone!
trg
Kevin's just dancing around on stage and playing the piano!
These guys were my childhood. Listening to them on car rides was the best.

We saw them in Hollywood a few years ago! They are GREAT 👍!

In my opinion this is the best BNL album. So many good songs
Wow! Just wow! They are so energetic and full of zing you can't stop listening to them!
Noticed the credits on one of the clapboards were of Canadian hockey players! Neat.
Great music can be created without a click track; this song proves it. They start rushing on the last chorus but the whole take sounds fantastic.
One of my favorite bands ever. Either tied at number one with Creed or an extremely close 2nd. : )
Ed in the vest and no shirt was hilarious.
And I love this song. I work at Staples and it is in our music mix that plays.
*This whole album was* 🔥🔥🔥
Love the floating credits!
LOL, one of the director tags has J. Sakic on camera... just noticed after about 12 years of watching and playing along to the video. Loved when my band covered this tune... so much fun.
I love this video and the song!

IMO, Ed is just is good a singer as Steven but in a different way. A band reborn.
What a fantasticly fun band. ❤❤❤
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH
This song was how I was introduced to BNL. Man, I wish they'd played it here in Charlotte on Thursday.
For me it was one week , you didn’t hear that back in 1999 ???? It was a big hit !!!!!!
This song takes me back...waiting for the school bus with my cd player.
Both my first favorite band, and my first concert.
Spread the love to your era!
If I could thumbs up this comment more than once, I would! They ALWAYS set me back up when I'm falling down. :-)
i saw them twice in st louis. one at the pageant and the other at celebrate st louis. i had vip passes to that 1
I live Theater Song so much. 😍
This came out when I was just 14 lol. I didn't really understand the lyrics, I just liked the music. Now that I'm older, oh my God this song is sad!
SO glad I was a teen when this song came out.
god damn i loved my childhood
I kinda wonder if any of those lightbulbs were broken during filming, they just look like they're in a place to get broken easily.
I think it's funny how this video tells the future a little bit...
Record and play, after years of endless rewind
Man, fun video. This is like a successful version of what they were trying to do with the ShoeBox video.
such a fun song to listen too
oh god heard this on the radio yesterday, totally forgot about it, all of a sudden my foot started tapping for some reason.
Love this song. Love the BNL lads.
Awesome song!
A band with a sense of humour is getting to be a rare commodity these days!. First saw these guys play "King Tut's" in Glasgow years ago and they were still wacky back then. Great song and video.

Underrated song
You can tell I'm a big BNL fan when at the end when they say "say it again" I automatically think of "E L W Y N that's elwyn say it again E L W Y N that's elwyn." :D
to which I say "That's Elwyn, he's my uncle." lol
@@flclfan85 "Welcome to the Bryant Street Theater! Have a Fruit Roll-up!"

Butter flavored Barenaked Toothpaste with anticavity fighting microscopic workers with picks. high five !!

I actually consider several BNL songs to be old friends.

I think it was a drug addiction.
Um combination of drugs and the rest of the band moving away into children and Christmas albums
Big bang theory look it up
I love the ads
Huh, this video doesn't have the part where they freeze in place, and rewind just before the rewind part.
Omg, Can't wait to see these guys in 2012! I love B.N.L! I miss Steven Page, but there stil good without him.
forgot all about this jam
Anyone else hear: "I couldn't pay, after years of endless free wine"?
DubiousDrewski I didn’t but now I do 🍷
The best songs are the Steven Page songs.
Great EH!
@SailorBJupiter It's really weird. Most people just comment like, "I love you BNL!" but I guess the fans over looked this.
BNL is the perfect representation of Canadians. We don't take ourselves too seriously and we don't care what others think of us and we're free to just let loose and have fun.
@SailorBJupiter Surely everyone's just speechless because Barenaked Ladies is just THAT cool a band. :)
Stephen page come back! Get off them drugs and come back lol great singer but for now Ed is pretty good ;)

@SailorBJupiter we prefer to just listen to it many times?
@Taytersjenks they don't NEED a dislike bar.
