Ive just built the meinl kit and windered jf you have any thoughts on how to improve the snare sound? Its rather lacking snd i wasnt sure how best to improve it?

Cool! I hope you had a lot of fun building the cajon.
My suggestion for improving (finetuning) the snaresound would be in the thightness of the screws in the front panel.
By tightening/loosening you can adjust the amount of snaresound.
I would start by loosening the top 2 screws by a quarter of a cirkel.
I hope that will help finetuning your snaresound.

@@Vibralph it was great building it, and it looks great, I've painted it white and just a bit of wax in the front to protect and maintain the natural wood finish.
Thanks re the loosening of the screws, I'll give that a try, it sounds pretty good just a little more snare would be good.

Hello Ralph! I'm looking for my first cajon and i found your video - great comparison! I'm thinking about Schlagwerk family, especially about model CBA3SW. Did you have opportunity played on this model? What do you think about Schlagwerk as generally? Would you recommend it or maybe something else?
    Best!
    Piotrek

      Hello Piotr!
I haven't played on the CBA3SW but I have on the CBA1S and those are basically the same. The only difference is the frontpanel which is the wedge type.
Assembling the CBA1S proofed to be relatively easy, also because of the clear instructions and material.
Please keep in mind that every cajon will sound slighty different because of tuning and wood.
The brand Schlagwerk is a safe buy. It has a steady quality. I have for example played on 10 brandnew CP101. There wasn't one which wasn't up to the standards.
I hope that will help? Otherwise feel free to ask more!
      Ralph

Hi Ralph! Thanks for the reply!
Your opinion about Schlagwerk is very valuable for me. Probably i will choose one of the X-One's. But before i will make decision i will go to the music shop to test some others models. One more time thank you and greetings from Poland !

I have the Schlagwerk CBA1S it sounds great and is easy to put together. The only problem i find with it is you can't adjust the snare.
The other two have screws on the front to change the snare sound.

Educate ladies and gentlemen not any cajon even exactly same model will sound same . Reason the wood it’s manufactured from isn’t identical play wood is made growth In each piece is different so sound will be different.

The cajons can be adjusted to the preferred personal preferences.
With the cajon I received the builder preferred the Peruvian sound.
They do come with snare wires though.
