I think as an audience, we understand why you're making the long-term push to ideally do what you love over all the "in between" content that currently pays the bills. Suggestion: Why not split video essays into multiple videos? Eg a 50 min video can be five 10 min parts. Gives you more videos for YT, separating them can add a wanting more/cliffhanger effect, & will attract the short attention span viewers improving their viewership.
I would 100% watch a video essay on city pop. Maxwell himself got me into listening to city pop when he released his playlist for music he uses in his videos
I totally understand your desire to move away from these “middle videos” but I honestly really like them. RUclips becomes more full of “slop” content everyday and your videos are always a cut above the rest. Your vids are always entertaining the entire way through and your NEVER needlessly drag them out longer than they need to be. Keep up the great work!
I take long videos over current event slop any day of the week. But having no current event slop would also be missed bc i dont keep up extremely well with everything and that makes you channel somewhat of a one stop shop
