The only real issue RE0 has is that you can occasionally have your time wasted by forgetting the hookshot, or by not knowing you need to get chemicals into Rebecca's kit in the mansion, for use like a good 60-90 minutes later (casually) in a different part of the mansion. And maybe Rebecca being basically useless compared to Billy. It's otherwise pretty much okay. Not as good as the other "classic" RE games, but not really bad either. Just kinda janky.
I'd buy a RE Outbreak remake or remaster so damned fast it would make Capcoms head corkscrew off it's proverbial neck!!! I played the crap outta that game file 1 and 2 back in 2002-2005 online and offline. I bought the ps2 HDD for faster load times just for that game. PLEASE CAPCOM PLEASE!! BRING BACK OUTBREAK!!
I’d say this game is a solid 6 in my books. The inventory system is a mess and frustrating at times. Should have made the hook shot a pocket item like they did with Jill and Chris in RE1. No inventory box, so having to pick items up and drop them and having to remember where they are was a pain. Plus they make Rebecca look completely inept in RE1, but yet I’m here she is bad ass. The enemies can be hard to hit in some places due to movement and most are just strange as well. Still it looks incredible and it’s a long game so you get your bang for your buck. But awesome job modders!!! 15 years is all it took lol
The map shows what items have been dropped in which room but I do agree it's pretty clunky. Thankfully you don't often have much reason to hoard items, particularly on normal. Aside from the "screw you for not knowing!" moments where not having the hookshot with you can force backtracking through freshly repopulated areas, the only other big issue is that the game is just simply a lot easier if you make Billy do all the fighting since he's just plain better than Rebecca at it. Casual playthroughs by people that have cleared the game a few times tend to just result in Rebecca being stashed in an empty room somewhere while Billy clears the mansion...
I gave it a 7. It is my least fav RE game and feels like a chore to play sometimes. However I do believe that Capcom should have added an online or LAN co-op mode to the game. ALso did you know that a person with the 2nd controller can control a character too? ALso the right stick controls the other charters movment as well.
