Omg when you said you hate the cluttered plant look i could not agree more. I love plants but I’m in a constant battle between collecting all of them and being suffocated by the amount of clutter!
Oh No, your patio furniture is gorgeous, the weather would ruin it. I think one of the most beautiful sets I’ve ever seen. All of us need a break every once in a while. The world is crazy right now, that’s a lot to deal with on its own. Your loved an ppl will be here when ever you post. 💚🤗
Wow. Your consistency is really something. It's sooo difficult to make one video a week let alone two when there's a day job. Very well done! I'm glad you're taking time off❤
Also want to say, I hope you understand when we as your audience tease that we miss you or where have you been or cheer when you’re back are never ever ever doing that to give you a hard time. Please always know, that’s our way of showing you how loved you are, how cared for you are and that you are truly missed when we don’t see you. Always take the time you need but know are missed. 💚
Most of the seedlings that are laying down seem to be types of plants that prefer cooler temps. You could plant lettuce and broccoli outside right now with your temps! Those types can even handle frosts.
Lots of thoughts. The Adansonii - Craig Milran has said they tend to lose bottom leaves and keep a cluster at the top. That is what mine is doing. So you may want to let the draping vines go to the base, let them root and start them back up the pole. The Ficus - Try topping the plant, root the top, set the bottom out next to the cacti - it is likely to branch nicely for you. Growing vegetables - you said you were new at. Look up cool weather vs summer vegetables. You may already we way late with the broccoli, lettuce and spinach.
For your veggie seeds, they need to be closer to the light or else they’ll stretch. I usually put books or a box under the tray so that the seedlings are up close by the light (maybe 2-3 inches from the light). Hope this helps!
Lavender works if you put it through stratification first. If you have any seeds left put them on a wet paper towel in a baggie in the fridge for a couple weeks then go straight to heat mat, cover with dome for lots of humidity and light. They should germinate. That worked for me.
I was doing plant chores this morning and literally thought “mmm, she hasn’t posted in awhile, wonder what she’s up to.” Funny how subscribers generally don’t know youtubers but you end up caring 😊
The seedlings that are laying down needed a fan so they get stronger the bright lights make them grow faster but they need the air movement to strengthen the core of the plant.
I’m sure this has been said, sorry if I’m a broken record. All your seedlings that are laying down aren’t heat tolerant, they’re cool weather crops! They’d do better in a windowsill with temperatures around 60-70 degrees F. Definitely try again! Your growing zone still has time for those crops! Excited to see your gardening journey!
I'm so very glad you're allowing yourself the grace to just be okay. We are still going to be here when you get back. Please take care, lots of love. 🥰
From what I understand, All Calathea were renamed geoppertia. Your zebrina is just lovely. I love how new geoppertia leaves come in looking like “taquitos” or “cigar rolls” lol!
I really don't think you need to explain to anyone why you don't post. This constant pressure to be present online can be tiring and not meeting people's expectations (strangers, mind you) is just exhausting. You do you
Good to hear you’re doing okay! With the veggie sprouts they might be getting too much humidity which is why they’re laying down. Look up “dampening off” for more info. 😉👍🏻
Glad to see you back! Please, take good care of yourself. P.s. if you just switch the chairs around with the little couch, you’ll probably have some more room to squeeze through the door :)
Always make sure you’re taking care of yourself first. My most important lesson: you gotta take care of you first in order to take care of others. I think we all genuinely appreciate you and all the work you put into your channel. Alsooooo, do you have any actual tattoos?! 🥺
Hi Becca! I just recently got a conversation set for my sunroom and I found it too big for the space so I just placed one of the chairs inside another room by a bookcase to create another cozy corner. Maybe you can do this with your set. Glad to hear you are taking care of yourself! 💚🌱
Typically once your seeds sprout you are supposed to take the lid off so that the seedlings can get uninterrupted strong light. That may be why some are leggy and laying down. Once they sprout they don’t need the high humidity and darkness anymore to germinate, just lots of light!! Congrats on your new place! I live in north florida by some Woods and I are mosquitoes are terrible! We use a mosquito service called Mosquito Joe and it works fabulously. They spray the perimeter of your yard. If you have Mosquito Joe in your area and you think you want to use them let me know I think I have a $25- 50 off service coupon somewhere or something😜
Glad to see you back, everyone needs space at times. Once the weather stays nice and you get outside you will love working in your garden. To me my out door flowers beds are a god sent. If I had the space I would have edibles too.
Great video, I’ve had a ragey kind of day so it’s helped me calm down to sleep! So thank you for that! I live in Malaysia where mosquitoes are very bothersome. I take vitamin b complex and that helps a wee bit. If I take it regularly, I get bitten less. And it helps my mood too 💚
Mosquitos love you because bloooooood... seriously though, something with genetics or blood type, I think... and I love the plant room. Please take care of yourself! We will take you however you feel capable/willing to share. We appreciate you!
Growing lavender from seeds it’s fun but long process 😂😂 with lavender you have to simulate winter (leave them in the fridge for at least 2 months) Lavender seeds take ages to germinate but be patient 😂😂 I love growing stuff from seeds!! Great video love that new furniture btw
Seeds like broccoli en lettuce don’t need that much heat, it’s why they’re so stretched. They germinate faster, but as soon as they are out they don’t need that heat, by now you can probably already start them outside, or put them outside as soon as they germinated, they can handle the cold or a bit of frost. Heat loving plants like tomatoes and peppers won’t stretch out so much, but you can only put them outside when it won’t freeze anymore :)
It’s good to see you in a video! The weirdest thing with social media and RUclips is that it feels like I actually know you, even though I really don’t. So when you’re not online I miss seeing you. Have a great weekend!
Regarding the pothos, they really like well draining soil and to be watered when the droop. Eventually you learn their schedule and water just before they droop. I struggled with pothos and vining philos for a while and had them in water until I figured it out!
Do you have a fan in your greenhouse? The veggies might be laying down bc they need wind to help the stems get strong. If they're not strong enough when you put them outside the wind will just snap them.
I have never started broccoli or let us from seed I usually buy a seedling plant at the greenhouse but if those are the ones that are wilted over it may just be too hot in that little greenhouse area for them both of those are cold weather crops
I've been looking for an Altisimma for SO LONG. Honestly I kind of love the bare stalk. 😂 I have a 2 foot tall Ficus Elastica Burgundy that dropped all but the very top leaf during a bout of depression and I think I like the look of it more now than before, especially since it's putting off new growth.
This might be unsolicited advice, but with my standleyana propagation, I had ZERO luck with leca, spag moss, or plain water in a glass vessel, but popped it in an opaque bud vase with water and had roots like immediately!
Love the new sun room furniture and the story behind it. So cool. I tried rooting lavender cuttings last spring/summer and it didn’t go well. Most of them refused to grow OR die off 😖
I think your seedlings need to be closer to the light. I keep mine within an inch or two & they don’t stretch. I’ve also had issues mixing seed varieties that germinate at different rates in the same trays. A lot of them don’t appreciate the intense humidity & heat from the mat once they’ve sprouted. They end up rotting. But the seeds that haven’t sprouted need the heat & humidity. In the future I’ll be germinating in 3” pots so I can move them around based on their needs
I'm so excited that you are starting growing edibles! I not an expert, but you may have your seedlings too far away from the grow light. That may be why they are lying down. They were stretching to get the light much in the same way that succulents do. It is my understanding that they should not be more than a few inches from the light. Good luck!
Seedlings are severely etiolated when you plant them out is going to be hard to harden then off, best thing for seeds is too grow them in similar conditions to what they will grow in later as soon as they sprout :)
I LOVE that furniture set! FB marketplace is the best way to find unique pieces 😍 what a great find (Also mosquitoes love me too 🙄 I think it has something to do with your blood type)
so, i think one thing is broccoli is a winter plant, so next time try germinating it not in SUCH hot conditions - it causes it to grow super fast and get leggy. Summer starts and winter starts want slightly different things, in my experience :) Fun fact for me, last fall i was trying to grow lettuce seedlings, and most of my varieties! I thought, oh i guess I have a lot of old seed?? I realize now lettuce actually needs a certain LOW temp to germinate! LIve and learn :)
"Damping Off" is a problem with seedlings that cause them to fall over, try sprinkling some cinnamon on the soil, there are videos on youtube about it, hope it helps
The leggy seedlings are probably not going to survive... and your lettuce and brassicas would prefer much cooler temperature than 90F because they are cold weather crops. I would also recommend taking seedlings out of the humidity tray once they sprout because they can be more prone to disease in excess humidity (damping off is another reason your seedlings may have fallen over). Good luck! Growing food is so rewarding
The mosquito thing depends on your blood type I think. I’m O+ and I get eaten alive !! I get welts too not just little bites. Really fun living in Minnesota 😅
Honestly, I'm not at all suprised by your incident with the Calathea (Goeppertia) zebrina. They take underwatering quite well (although they'll definitely let you know they're dehydrated) in my experience, but they'll rot in a heartbeat if you water them too soon! They're my most difficult Calathea by far because of how dramatically they react to overwatering and how hard it is to grow them out once they've rotten. I strongly hope it never happens to you! It's the most disheartening thing.
@@BeccaDeLaPlants It's hard to find a reliable resource between the plant shops when searching "calathea" lol. Wikipedia has Goeppertia listed as a synonym, but no source associated. I get eaten alive by mosquitoes too. I read that they are attracted to like contrasting colors from the background (dark background, pale skin/vice versa=attractive to mosquitoes) and they apparently prefer blood type O (idk what I am)
Dude, mosquitoes, the best theory I've heard is that they are more attracted to certain blood types. My husband gets eaten alive and anytime he's with other people around any mosquitoes almost no one will get bit but him! His mom used to joke she didn't need bug spray when he was at home.

I feel like the broccoli and pansies could be laying down because of the heat, they are frost hardy crops so 80-90 might be too much for them
I am thinking the same. Some ventillation would be also better to have...
