Fortnite's prices are reasonable. Fortnite is always giving out free stuff. $9 for a battle pass every few months can get you lots of stuff plus the next battle pass and extra vbucks.
People get mad at Apex's micro transactions all the time. Apex just had an event the cost people $360 to get everything and the players were livid. People always talk about the trash battle pass stuff too.
People were also mad modern warfare micro transactions when it first came out but that game is dead so no one cares anymore.

I still like this channel somewhat, but Joe just turned into Stephen A. Smith caliber self caricature guy. Not my thing, I think the appeal of his angry rants and worst game lists, used to be the fact he was genuinely angry or disappointed. Now he is just doing a bit like SAS, I do not get the appeal of that at all. He purposely play terribly received games like Kong, just so he could make the worst games list... These dev dont understand micro transaction should not go over $10! You want 90% of your player base to be able to toss you $3 to $5 rather than 3 to 5% being able to spend $40.

Call of Duty is making billions charging around 25$ for a bundle of an operator and a couple gun skins.
The guys who will spend money will spend a lot of money. Way more than enough to offset the increase in sales that you could get from charging substantially lower prices.
@@yhzh2002 it's 20 dollars and usually the blueprints have completely different silhouettes they aren't just the gun but blue. There's actual effort put into making the blueprints and skins completely changing how a gun can look. 20 dollars is fine as long as the stuff is consistent per bundle and if the bundle doesn't have a character amd weapon skin it becomes a cheaper bundle. When you buy a 20 dollar bundle you know your getting stuff that looks special.

@@tacobandit1926 well even with that it still has better gunplay, more modes and a solid tempo to it, also reducing ttk was a masterstroke in my opinion, the sweats are gettin theirs and us casuals can find some enjoyment in it, but sure sbmm is an idiotic way of segmenting players, id rather get better by playing against better players but also some variety in games, sometimes it feels like shooting bots and sometimes im the bot which teaches me to git gud

Tacking on a label like "RARE" or "LEGENDARY" onto cosmetic features like skins is completely unnecessary and only serves to be manipulative. Basically just a weak excuse to artificially jack up a price on useless crap.
It's fine in something like Borderlands, where you find them naturally ingame from loot sources and it just tends to be a depiction of where/how you find them and how rare they actually are, but as microtransactions? No way, get that crap out of here.

I will never root for a game to fail, but I just don't see XDefiant lasting more than a year or two. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I think Joe's right and it just doesn't have the legs to stand for several years. Honestly, if Ubisoft was smart and they wanted a flagship FPS, they'd focus more resources on Rainbow Six Siege. People love Siege, it's still really popular nearly a decade after launch. But, it could be true juggernaut if Ubisoft gave that team more backing. Hell, maybe even start working on a sequel. Idk, XDefiant just seems like a flash in the pan that will die off fairly quickly.
This game is going to follow the finals. Just not as popular. As the release was so quiet and not advertised. Majority didn’t even know it was out until now. It will get little whispers for 2-3 weeks. After that the player base will drop tremendously as people will go back to where they were before. Whether that is call of duty or any other FPS.
@@JoeGrizz1y Honestly, if XDefiant didn't get like an 8 month delay it would have had better staying power. Before the last delay hype around XDefiant was at an all time high, and sentiment around CoD was particularly low. They had a chance to make a huge splash, but completely blew it.
The game feels like mobile game, like Joe said, it feels like a game that was made 15 years ago. Nothing new about it
They have given attention to Rainbow Six in the form of paid membership.
So instead of a new Splinter Cell we get the rotting bones of the 4th Echelon in a crappy free to play multiplayer that will be dead in a few months.

During beta you could pay 20usd for all current and upcoming characters, no strings attached, which they upheld even post launch.
I besides, the monetization, have thoroughly enjoyed what i have played off this so far. It genuinely scratches the itch that good cod gameplay use to give me i like the movement and gun play and giving abilities spices it up a bit tbh. Like joe said i think it isn't special in anyway but i do think the nail the fundamentals of what make a good "dumb fun" game good. Im also kinda blown away by how stable this game is even on ultra settings. Not to mention the good map design and aesthetics this game is surprisingly pretty especially on max settings.

I played 2 playtests of it and it was great. Since launch, its been a nightmare to find games. Takes about 5-6 minutes to find a game and quite a few of those times have been games in progress that are almost over. Not even mentioning the weapon grind

The way Joe described it as old school cod with overwatch abilities and no killstreaks is so true. The abilities just ruin the game for me. Getting killed by random things multiple times in a game. I much rather have killstreaks which makes more sense in this type of game than abilities. Progression is very slow compared to any other game I played. There is no reward system at all it feels. You get a bunch of kills but there’s no killstreaks to get. Basically there no point in going on a killstreak but it’s casual game mode so there’s no incentive to play obj. All the rewards are locked behind a paywall which makes sense but there all shit and overpriced af. Don’t even practice mode available at the start of game which is so dumb cuz by the time it comes out everyone will already know how to play the game. It just feels like your playing a pointless game. We are gonna have to see how ranked is when that comes out but with all these overwatch abilities I just don’t see how the gameplay can feel competitive. Maybe the rewards might be worth it. The gameplay itself feels very wonky. You cant slide cancel which I think ruins the movement a little bit but u can slide and jump which makes up for it. It’s still very early but I’m just not that invested with the whole overwatch abilities.
Yea I agree. Ttk is too long, movement is too rigid, and gun leveling is a slog. I shouldn't be leveling up my base level faster than I'm unlocking attachments. Especially when you're eventually going to be going against people that do have more time to play and have everything unlocked that will beat you in gunfights because of it. Im just worried the patch for gun leveling will be baked into getting the battle pass. I think I may give it this weekend to play more, how long I last this weekend will be the make or break on this game to me which would just be me monitoring for what they decide to patch.

@@_Cetarial too young to understand haha. Back in the day, lots of games had all the costumes or special weapons hidden away until you do a certain challenge or achievement. Like how in resident evil 4 you could unlock gangster outfit and the typewriter machine gun. One of the latest games I can think of that does this is Blasphemous 1 and 2.

Played a few matches and uninstalled. I literally cannot find this style of game fun anymore, you run for 10 seconds and either get shot from one of 20 vantage points or you do the same to someone else until the cycle repeats. Everyone just running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I'm getting older too, it's just hard for me to keep up with the crackhead energy these games require now lol. I do love the map designs though in terms of visuals. They have a lot of character to them and I like the bright vibrant art style but that's about it.
Honestly having a fun time with this game it's also coming from a developer team that's dealing with a totally new IP. Great communication. Sorry you guys can play on launch but I think all of us kind of know by now that launches are going to be rough when a million people are trying to play at the same time. Servers have been running great and smooth ever since those 3 hours
I will die on this hill but I couldn't care less if they offer skins for 20$, or 1000$. If the game is FREE, if the game is good, if the performance is good, if the content is good, if there is no p2w, if the servers are good, if the gameplay is good, then the game is great as well. If they offer skins that are cool and I can afford them cool, if not not I ll just enjoy the free game and content as well as any updates they work on. I would happily let morons pay 100$ skins if that keeps the game with fresh content.

I never understand this type of logic, why would people be fine with this practice in video game but not other product or service in real life? imagine they start charging the Gym 10x more cuz they feel like it, you could argue then why not just run or do exercises without gym equipment cuz it's free? Some Moron paying more than $10 for a skin is already overkill, why would you need that much to support a game? Then how are developers making games that are one time transaction with the same price as a single skin supposed to fund their next project with this logic?
I just imagine these morons is just helping the executive and the higher up buying another mansion or yacht instead of going into the game development, cuz they already have more than enough with these skin pricing.
And by fresh content, I assume you mean skins, it doesn't take that much effort to create skins or a few characters each years compared to a full game.

1. Those two things are not the same at all. For your gym example, if the gym entrance was free the equivalent would be to get plain treadmills and weights and the “paid” customers would get fancy shiny equipment WITH THE SAME FUNCTIONALITY. Those paid customers pay for the equipment of the gym, the staff and the maintainance for both them and EVERY FREE USER. Free users get to use the gym FOR FREE! All the equipment's and facilities. (just not the shiny ones, the equipment could be a bit dirtier and the facilities less clean. Thats still up to you to consider if using that space 100% free is worth it for you)
2. For your skin argument. If 1000 people paid for 60$ game thats 6000. If the game was free, less than 25% of the population are usually players who spend money, that would result in… 1000*0.25*10 = 2500 in earnings. Thats why skins tend to be more expensive than some indie games. You need to cover for the majority of the free users.
3. By fresh content I mean content. Maps, items, balance updates, gamemodes, servers, customer support. Look at games like League of Legends, Apex , Valorant.
When skins are optional and the rest of the game is 100% free, I don’t care how they monetize those skins if they can keep the game awesome. Note that we specifically talking about skins in free 2 play games, not pay 2 win BS or cosmetics in 60$ singeplayer games or even manipulative pratices like FOMO or lootboxes.
