Can we just stop talking about Monica's shortcomings like movement, body, and many other things? I'd appreciate it if we focused on positive things, her wins from 1995. It feels like we forgot to appreciate Monica. Please.
I myself have been guilty of drawing comparisons to earlier Seles perfection to the post Stabbing yesrs..in a way it is a testament to how much we love and feel for her since she was never the same..having said that us Monica fans like to think what could have been without that horrible event that changed the record books..I do find the poster on here attacking her both professionally and personally much more offensive..we all know who this person is he been around for years under many different names and using hateful and inaccurate arguments and stats to downgrade Monica at ever single video she has on here
@@bryguy0111 Well said. The majority of people know she was destined to be the best ever in the sport if her first career hadn’t been derailed and went on to develop physical and mental issues. Before that, she was she was nearly immortal on the tennis court.
Monica’s strokes and movement are way off, but her savvy was still enough to beat this hard-hitting lady. It was around that time that an undiagnosed stress fracture was beginning to impair Monica-just at a moment in the game when big hitters were taking things to the next level with the advanced equipment and strings, and proving themselves capable of equaling angles that only Seles and a few greats had been capable of producing in prior years with older equipment. This had to be among Monica’s final events and tour wins. The writing was on the wall; even without the 2003 stress fracture, I think her window was finally just beginning to pass. To think of what an “un-interrupted” and un-damaged Seles would have accomplished between the rest of 1993 through 2003 is tragic. I believe she would have won at *least* two Slams a year for another eight years. Even at two a year for that period, she would have ended up with 25+ majors. 😑
How would Seles have won 2 slams in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2002 for example? And how many slams per year would Hingis have won post-99 if she hadn't been stabbed? You maroon....
@@vivienjean3289 1) Hingis always owned Seles, was 12-2 win/loss against the grunter in 1996-2000 with 25-7 in sets (9 wins being 2-setters). Do you really want to excuse all this with that stabbing incident many years earlier....? 2) In 1991-93 Seles lost 4 times to a 34/37-year-old Navratilova and was 2-3 win/loss against a slumping Steffi. So Seles always struggled against the greats of the game even at her absolute peak. To suggest that Seles would have won 2 slams per year for almost the whole next decade is an insult towards Steffi, Hingis, Venus. Nothing indicated this.
