Charles-Marie Widor is considered a representative composer of the French symphonic organ tradition. He served as professor of organ at the Paris Conservatoire (1890-1896), and as organist of Saint-Sulpice (1870-1933). Though remembered mainly as the composer of the famous Toccata from Symphonie no. 5, Widor was a prolific composer in his time, writing for a wide variety of solo instruments and ensembles. The Allegro ma non troppo from Symphonie no. 7 is a lesser-known movement from Widor’s compositional output: a unique and spectacular example of pianistic writing for the organ.
Recorded at Saint Basil's Catholic Church at the University of Saint Michael's College in December 2023.

What a joy to watch and hear. Yes, an unusual texture. Thank you.
