They should remake it a bowling alley with more neon lights like the '80s

Add really good local beer to the menu like big wave and ocean vodka and locally sourced water filtered drinks

Being a former Kailua resident and growing up in the 60's to 2000 in Kailua, I didn't bowl but know lots of people bowled in Kailua and it was always packed with bowlers. These days, there aren't that many locations that local families that aren't military can bowl. The idea that renovating/rebuilding the bowling alley into shops or businesses in Kailua would be better is a little crazy. Kailua has no hotels. The county already doesn't really care for the unlicensed rental that might be in Kailua, so having a steady stream of business that they think would sustain more businesses in Kailua might be unrealistic. The existing food establishments in Kailua are enough. Kailua is a diminishing community in the sense that in earlier decades there were young families. There is no growing residential communities developing in Kailua. Most of the theaters in Kailua closed and most of the age of the night life in Kailua isn't going to remain in Kailua to spend money there. Visitors or locals coming from Honolulu, Waikiki might be a little unwilling to drive or the Pali or H3 at night or after a night of dining/drinking, especially when Windward showers can be heavy. If it's shopping that is envisioned, what would Kailua have to offer to visitors that they couldn't get in the major malls on Central Honolulu. Kailua is a laid-back residential community that is already overcrowded in Lanikai and aging that the residents aren't going to spending in boutiques shopping or vacationer's goods. Adding more businesses that attract shops isolated in that area would only make it a potential for more crime. I think it's a bad idea of usage and due to the low density of the township, there's no way that the resident/business community of Kailua would approve a towering structure.

The Book Bowling Alone comes to mind. A&B went downhill quickly after selling out to Vanguard, StateStreet, Black Rock etc and Carol Reimman taking over management.

Sad these developers just want profits and cound careless about long term ramifications of how it effects residents. Anything family friendly they want to destroy. Restaurants are closing daily but they want to build for more makes no sense.
