You're right, building your own is not like a DJI where you open the box, set it up and start flying. You learn what makes them work, why 2 rotors turn clockwise and 2 counter clockwise, how and why airframes pitch, roll and yaw, you learn about transmitters, receivers, flight control systems, video transmission, positive and negative pressure, power supplies, escs, flying the disk (quad and heli), everything you never wanted to know about lithium batteries, chargers, which is the leading and trailing edges of the props, gyros, gps, glonass, Galileo, BeiDou, pulse width etc,. etc. and that one simple little thing can compound into a big problem. Most of those problems are expensive lessons but they are lessons you ever forget.
The type of review I've been waiting for! Thanks! I actually think I'm going to stick to the DJI FPV Drone for a while longer because I like the idiot proof battery charging, range, GPS return to home peace of mind and I'm power looping stuff and have crashed into the grass multiple times and only had to clean it and replace props, no major damage yet. I feel like if I wait a little longer newer tech will bridge the gap and bring the best of both worlds together!

I started out buying the DJI FPV combo, but was just too scared to even try flying it in manual mode😅Then I bought the EMax Babyhawk 2HD with caddx vista and wow. Im doing loops and rolls and im starting to get the hang of it. Eventually I will fly my DJI in manual but for now I’m using it for long range flying and I love them both🥰 I can practise dangerous stuff on the babyhawk😂
I doubt many people will ever consider that dji drone suitable of free style or anything. The price is just to ridiculous to crash it after 5 minutes flight. NOT THE BEST BEGINNERS DRONE TO LEARN XD i guess there hundreds broken plastic and wires on people shelf's after first flight attempt.

I’m thinking of investing in an official strong FPV drone (BNF). Not in a rush but I believe it will happen.
One thing I would definitely want to see happen is the release of a O3 air unit. This way we could bind both the remote and goggles.

Good thing about BNF is that I can pull out the old Air unit and Pop in a new one.

How to unlock to 1200 ?
Great Work. Really appreciate the hardworking. I am planning to go digital so was confused whether I should buy a quad with dii air unit, tbs tango 2, dii googles v2 OR dji Air Unit, dii Remote (the small one), dji googles v2. I am low on budget.
Good to see your flying skills develop...We told you not to buy that DJI FPV Drone, didn't we..?...lol...If you load your Quad with iNAV and a GPS with Compass, you can have a real reliable RTH and Autolanding....Your welcome...Love your video presentation and style, it's always amusing too...👍😀🇬🇧

@@xavier_arthur Well, I used to have Betaflight loaded on my quads, but the RTH is not very reliable or elegant the way it does it....
It's a known problem that noise from the Vista? Unit affects the cables of the GPS, so sheilding that cable could be done for starters. Then, try RTH using Betaflight see how you get on...🤔🤔🙄🇬🇧 Loads of tutorials using iNAV on U-Tube...

Man I've been watching your videos since I got my first air2. You got lot of info to share! Good work man! I got the fpv drone from dji pretty much the same time as you to be honest it sits more these days because I now build my own. I got he skyliner from rotoriot as a DYI kit and seeing yours that you bought tuned I'm glad I didn't go that route, only because I feel it looks like it could have been put together better by them. Great video though man! Also really gotta watch those voltages best way to kill these lipos is drain them too much!

damn dude you breakin all kinds off faa codes haha savage on that, i no u can fly over ppl now with only certain quads but these are not those quads, out of line of sight went over an overpass i could go on..... haha not that i care all that much but the wrong person will see stuff like this along with the inexperience in fpv, and you could get reported one of these days just be mindful of that bro not saying u will do anything bad but things happen and we do have a massive lawsuit going on with the faa and we dont need any reasons to give them what they want and that is to take our quads away i live and breath fpv ever since i started and if u do crazy stuff in a video next time just show the crazy footage without showing u physical cause hell there were othere pilots there that could have been any one who knows ;)

That Rotor Riot and is sweet! I baby my DJI FPV. I Never fly it like a true FPV. Nobody wanna crash those. I was hoping to see if the New controller v2 would connect to a new air unit, So i can use on my other drones.

That battery can be fixed. If you dropped it below the threshold where your charger won't bring it up. If you don't know the trick a little googleing will revel the answer. Loving your videos

Loved watching your vid.... I crashed my DJI FPV :( before I flew straight up carbon frames... ouch! I wish I had it back now after the amount of flying I have done!
this is your Patreon viewer who love your videos, but needs to ask you how the heck do you configure the rocker roller switches on the DGI remote control V1. If you know how to do this in INAV, well, that would be terrific, as I am trying to set up a jet airplane and don’t know how to configure it a damn thing to do reverse thrust or pan the camera. There is no literature or videos about this from DJI all the way down to Google.
anyway, any help would be appreciated

Love your enthusiasm !! I'm torn between getting one over the other.....can't afford both!! Right now i just have the DJI Mini 2 to keep me occupied.....I wonder how much money you can save by building the Rotor Riot instead of getting the ready to Fly?
There is rtf fpv drones for 100$ and have better performance than this dji drone, just look it up, ofc you will need googles for it, just so happened that i have oculus quest 2 vr headset, got a usb plugin for android to receive video feed from drone, cost me like 20 euros and works with my vr

Stick with the real fpv rig. Dji fpv is way more of a tool than a recreational flyer. It’s so much better flying a true rig.

Trying to get into FPV and starting to get confused, I recently bought the DJI FPV goggle v2 and controller v2. In getting mixed answers when it comes to me using these products with the Nazgul5 v2 (6s). Can someone dumb it down for me to understand? I’d like to use these two products and I’m seeing that I can’t use the controller with any other products that aren’t dji

How do you do the unlock?
Nice flying. My voltage warning comes on red when its time to land. You can set the voltage in Betaflight so that you will have time to come back and land with a safe battery voltage. Dji could have just as easily made the fpv drone handle crashes just like other fpv drones. It they had I would have bought two of them. With a fragile frame I didnt buy one, if I have to stay high and be careful I will just use a mavic.

It's a shame that you can't link other drones to the dji fpv controller it's so much better imo and comfortable. The big bulky square controllers are not the move haha

I have looked at a couple Rotor Riot drones and they say they require an FCC / HAM license. That would indicate that they do not have an FCC ID on them. Can you verify that on your drone? The DJI drone should have an FCC ID.

OMG. Buy a solder station and check out Joshua Bardwells channel. He will take you step by step building your own FPV quad, having 2 quads is awesome, you can learn so much. Just take your time and take your subscribers along for the ride. They will thank you . You can have one pretended and one custom home built , both will fly great . Go for it. Awesome video. I’m 62 and I can build I’m sure you can too

1st off can I say I love you videos and gives me confidence in learning fpv myself. But I disagree that crash would of been refresh.. Its wasn't fast or hard.. Original dobo was fully ripping his, smashed it into a tree HARD.. Still flyable

Will all FPV drones be grounded as the FAA says you must keep the drone in sight? Which means that you can’t use any object other than your naked eye to track your drone. I have a feeling that we will only be able to fly FPV in places that are designed for FPV drones.
