      RoboCop has a dynasty of comics.
      I already named one in the other comments.
      Here's the other 5:
      Marvel Comics (1990-1992), plus adaptations of the first two films.
      Frank Miller's RoboCop versus The Terminator from Dark Horse Comics (1992) which became a video game in 1993.
      Dark Horse Comics, (1992-1994), 13 issues plus adaptation of RoboCop 3.
      Dynamite Entertainment, (2009-2013), 14 issues.
      Boom! Studios (2013-2016), 34 issues.

      Watching Robocop 3 is a must, don't short yourselves or us on viewing it, that way the viewing the remake would be worth it. I think the rollercoaster ride y'all felt on Robocop 2, you'll have that but it'll be much more fun in Robocop 3. Also, quick note on the drug Nuke in Robocop 2, I didn't pick this up before, but it was the action one would take during the commercial for the war board game in the 1st movie.

    Fun fact: When RoboCain "broke" the actress' neck, it looked so real when she landed, the entire cast stopped and thought she was really dead. She was perfectly fine, though, as being a dancer made her extremely limber.

    • @joemacdonald6312

      I remember reading about that; the cast, crew, and director were alarmed at the way she landed and rushed to see if she was okay because, as you mentioned, they thought she was actually dead. However, she got up and showed that she was perfectly fine LOL!

    • @Zentron

    The blue finish on his suit was a deliberate choice because in the first film the camera kept reflecting on the suit so they opted for a bluer finish.

    • @lonkylaine
      @lonkylaine Год назад +7

      It changed nothing. They find a solution anyway in the first movie even with the grey finish. They change the color mainly because they wanted a more friendly image, more "toy" appearance for a younger audience.

      I read that they tinted it more blue to make him look more "Cop-like," like the blue uniforms most officers wear. No clue how true this is, though. 🤷‍♂

    • @Furluge
      @Furluge Год назад +6

      The blue tint he has makes it look like his armor is blued steel. Bluing is a way of finishing steel that gives it that kind of blue look. You see it a lot in firearms. So I'd argue the blue tint actually makes him look less toy like and a bit less space age.

    • @nightking0130
      @nightking0130 10 месяцев назад +1

      @Furyswildmeat well that doesn’t contradict what I said. In the first film the camera would keep reflecting the camera so when they had the chance to use the other finish they went for it.

We were barely teenagers, but we absolutely loved the first Robocop and we convinced our moms to take us to the theater to see this one. At the time, we thought it was amazing, but now looking at it through an adult's perspective, we definitely see the flaws. One thing about most reactions on old movies, 90s and prior is that they are being scrutinized with modern eyes, with the modern era, but imagine watching these films in the context of the times they were created, they were literally mind blowing, some called masterpieces. It’s just more than a reaction but more of understanding the film and transporting yourself to those times, only then you will set apart a good critique.

    Robocop 2 was one of the first R Rated movie that was under heavy scrutiny for a particular reason. critics and parents were under the impression this movie was designed for kids to be able to comfortably watch it and be entertained, they were not impressed by the sizable number of kids swearing and committing crimes in this movie. they also think this is why the violence was considerably toned down compared to the first, there is more humour and the anti-drug message sprinkled throughout courtesy of Reaganomics.

    The best of the Robocop sequels.
    Also it's the final film to be directed by Irwin Kershner (Star Wars:Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and the James Bond remake, 'Never Say Never Again' in 1983).
    Plus it's the first of the 2 sequels with comic industry legend, Frank Miller as screenwriter and he played Cain's head lab scientist.
    This one really felt like a comic come to life.
    So many stakes and awesomeness.
    A lot was cut out of the scripts for the sequels (mostly from Miller).
    But it was re-utilized in Avatar Press' RoboCop (2003-2006) comic series with Miller's name on it.
    The Arcade scene had a bunch of games from Data East.
    Robocop 1 and 2 were made into games by the same company.
    Robocop 3 is the most hated of the trilogy.
    Because of it's lowered quality, it feels more like a tv movie than theatrical feature.
    RIP to Galyn Görg as Angie, Cain's girlfriend.

The Remake actually focuses more on those themes, about how Murphy struggles with what he has become, his family wanting him back and then the corporation wanting him to act more like a machine.
