Watching the Elites use live sonar and figuring out how to find fish like them

  • I got a chance to be a camera boat for 4 days at a recent Bassmaster Elite Series tournament on Lake Champlain. Being close to the action and watching how they were finding and then catching fish made me wonder a couple of things. First, they looked like ducks waddling around looking for stuff, in their case winning smallmouth, which I refer to as the "live waddle". And second, how could I replicate their method without breaking my equipment and falling the water. Then I realized that I could use the features of my pole mount Livescanner, along with my Lowrance Pro unit and Active Target 2 to find fish quickly and efficiently.
So, come along and watch some of the fishing action from a water side view to give you more insight of how they fish.

Thank you! I am trying. I'm hoping that I continually get better at the final product whether it is the installation, instruction, or video. Hopefully see you soon. I need a good Mexican restaurant.

Great video Gary I’m intrigued by your live scanner. I’ve been researching them but I run a separate pole for my AT because I have a Ulterra. With the pole I run and using it looking for perch here on Lake Michigan in big waves with it up on the bow I’m having problems with it staying in the bracket. It’s held on with magnets that are strong but with the length of the pole and the waves it’ll knock it loose but I have it tethered thank goodness. So the researching continues 👍👍

Thanks! Look at the video that I did on the Livesweep. It is mounted on an Terrova (although it may have been an Ulterra at the time). This is on a guide's boat and he goes out in very rough conditions. Once we got it screwed down, the mount has been staying in position (i.e I haven't heard him complain about it). I think that I put a link to their website in the description.

Good stuff Garry. Sometimes a basic and simple explanation is the best way to know how to do things. Those Ducks are real quacks!!!

Thanks! I know simpler is better most of the time and more relatable too. It took a while to find those ducks. I kept asking for people to send me videos but no luck and found it on a royalty free site.
