Mine was Madden 93 on the Genesis. I remember going through the insert with all the player ratings and calculating which team had the best group of players at every position. The game was so much more simple back then.
I forgot about the receiver boxes on the top of the screen early on. I stuck with Joe Montana football for the duration then went to 2k football but still always enjoyed early and mid level Madden..... I love these vids, always such a great nostalgia trip
My madden was on the genesis day. I remember when you got injured, the ambulance would come to the field and run over players with their vehicles. Then, then when you played on the snow or rain, the whole field is either white or brown. Playing this on the xbox One, I would never have thought the graphics would be this realistic. The same goes for the other games, but I grew up playing atari. Still remember pit fall, pac man, ET
@@Jaylamah529 to me it was way before that. It still felt smooth in 17, and 18 came out with a new engine. It still wasn’t bad then, but 19 they changed the engine again. That’s when I realized how poorly the game flow is. It’s clunky, and buggy. They’ve been on the same engine ever since. The problem is, they went away from a physics based game, to a dice roll animation effect. If you notice, you can have an all 99 Corner on like a 25 receiver, and that receiver 10-12 times a game will straight up burn that back, strictly because of the animation and dice roll. Ratings should matter more. I understand they wanted to graphics to be good, but, I’ll sacrifice some graphics and animations, for more physics based gameplay.

Although I am as sick & tired of Guaden & Davis as everyone else, I gotta admit they are definitely top 3 announcing crews the games has had. Charles Davis sometimes says dumb, corny-sounding lines but I really like how they seem to acknowledge individual players more than the other crews do. That really sells the immersion for me when the announcers frequently say the names of the player scoring, catching the ball, running the ball, making an INT, etc., because it shows me that they know what they are talking about and actually recognize who the players are. There are some things that the other crews do better but this is one of the main things I do like about the current crew in the game. They also aren’t as boring as Nantz & Phil Simms
Does anyone remember which madden year would play against a giants team of massive players and a couple of other crazy teams that obviously don’t exist in real life ??
Considering the limited graphics and technology available in 1988 it's not bad looking. But 1990 onwards was were the games got awesome. 1992 Madden was my favourite by a mile.

3:59 why are the patriots playing against the eagles in the jags stadium? Or is this the Super Bowl? Which would still be confusing b/c it’s listed as madden 2005 but that superbowl was in 2006. Just something that caught my attention. Also, it woulda been nice to continue seeing actually game play as opposed to replays

Madden 2004 (the Mike Vick cover) is my favorite Madden of all time! I literally would spend hours playing that despite Madden 2007 being out lol
You can see a gradual improvement up until 18. That wentz pass was a thing of beauty. It was smooth. After that, it looks clunky
