A Chinese pharmaceutical company is breeding six billion cockroaches every year. The roaches, as well as other insects such as scorpions and centipedes, have been ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine and restaurant dishes for thousands of years.

This reminds me of how my old roommate bred cockroaches to feed his reptiles and suddenly the cockroach problem in the apartment got worse and he refused to believe it was because of his literal cockroach colony
Depends on where you live. It could be a completely different type of cockroach, do you live somewhere that gets cold in the winter?

guys roaches are scavengers of the land, shrimp are scavengers of the sea. both will eat anything you throw at them including rotting corps.. the only reason we eat one and not the other is due to social conditioning from birth.. something to think about. personally, I think I am going to give up eating shellfish after learning that they are basically sea roaches lol

I think it's great! My chickens consider cockroaches a big treat (big excitement)!! The huge dense population of bugs probably produces some useful by-product gases ("greenhouse" related), that can be captured, scrubbed, compressed, etc, then used commercially/industrially. So a win-win there too. ..
Why eat them directly, as food?! Wouldn't it be better, tastier!! (and profitable) to feed the bugs to poultry and fish etc... Then harvest poultry/fish for food production.. Anyway, food for thought.
