Hi all! Popoli is lovely, no doubt. Some considerations to think about: do you have an EU passport? If not, you can only stay in the EU 90 days at a time (with a break of 90 days before you can return). (I’m looking at you, Brexiters, Americans & Canadians, unless you have a spouse w/ an EU passport.) Also, you cannot buy a car unless you have EU citizenship (or Italian citizenship).

It ticked all my boxes, as well. I've always wanted to live in a house where the rooms were on different levels and that upstairs apartment was IT! I'm almost feeling physical pain on not being able to purchase this as I need to sell our land in Belize to afford it. This home was the one to convince my husband that Italy is better for us. I'm not comfortable with spending my golden years on a piece of property one can only get to with a boat. Neither of us has experience with boats other than renting a pontoon boat at the lake for a day.

This one is really fun - I love the all the different levels as I sit here as a middle aged person. I can see issues with those fun levels as an older person. Elevator somewhere, maybe? My eyes are younger than my body, I fear. The seventies really weren't great for "interior decorating"! LOL Very impressed that you have a torch now - AND that you brought it with! Good job to Tony-the-Torchman (and we'd have understood if you'd said a bad word when you hit your head!!) The star-barrel ceilings in the garage are ...stunning! Sam is a mixed breed Boxer/American Staffie and is 4. We adopted him at 5 months old and later found out he'd been removed from the first home for abuse and in the second home, he bit a young child and someone in that home beat him before bringing him to the shelter. He still flinches when his shoulders are touched. We also just found out he has cataracts in both eyes due to a sudden onset of glaucoma. We'll be starting him on eye meds soon. He will lay beside my desk while I'm working on projects, then insist on a game of 'keep away'. I am trying to make a move to Italy happen in the next four years, if not sooner. Hi Dave
I would really like a property in Popoli
What would be the nearest airport to here?
If I came over would we be able to meet?
I am currently living in Turkey so already an ex-pat!!

Pescara is very close maybe less than 30 minutes. Please email info@ahomeinitaly.com and we can arrange for an agent to show you places 😊

That's odd, if you look up Vespa it was headquartered in Pontedera Tuscany, not Popoli. The book I have ,a geat history of Vespa, does not mention Popoli. I used to have a couple Vespas,

The first vehicle was created from spare aircraft parts that were actual pieces of landing gearsfrom Mussolini’s airplanes. It was designed by Corradino D’Ascanio

Yeah I knew all that. I'd forgotten that he had already designed a sort of prototype before Piaggio getting involved. And I didn't make the connection to that town.

The man who invented the Vespa, Corradino d’Ascanio, was born in Popoli. It was never manufactured in Popoli.
