It helps me tremendously when you give us a tour of the town we are in. Please don’t stop doing this! As you said, “Use the fast forward if you don’t want to tour the town.” And the bits of history or information that you share with us about the area are invaluable, seeing as how I probably know nothing about this town. So, thank you! And keep up the good work! ❤️

The poorest parishes had the most elegant churches, because the population believed that if life was hard here, there was a better place to which they would gain entrance by their generosity and well-behaved living. These churches were built and maintained by the sacrifices of humble but pious people.

That church "Madonna della Libera" or " Madonna of Freedom" dates back to middle ages 1500's +/_ when there was a severe plague in area with many deaths and Madonna is said to have appeared to many people telling them to head out into farmlands and further up in mountains to caves (to effecrtively quarantine themselves ) and thus saved the town. The same Madonna has been brought to several churches outside Italy where many Pratolani have immigrated to in past.
Of interest......Around same time, Lazzaretto Island, separate from main islands of Venice, was starting to be used to isolate people with plague or other infectious diseases for quarantenne, or 40 days, which became precursor to the modern "quarantine"

Great fun hauling the shopping up three flights of stairs to the kitchen. Love the blue pillar right in the middle of the living space. Really breaks up the feng shui!

I prefer the traditional look too, but as an Italian commenter said, while answering another comment - actual Italians are world renowned for their cutting edge modern designs in all things, homes included.
It is only us foreigners that are so in love with the romantic (but unrealistic, apparently) "traditional" look - an Italian is more likely to live in a stunning, superbly designed contemporary home.

@@lapsedluddite3381 Well, I think this statement is safe to say about any country out there, but not really the point.
Yes, we are going for the old styles which you can actually get plenty of.. both house and flats... this is just not one of them, and it is certainly not a modern one either.
But yes, it is probably only us tourists who wants the old style :)

Ciao Dave, I love the tour of each area you are in and keep right on rambling we love it. This may not be a good analogy but here goes. When someone has a handicap or a disability they learn to adapt to life with them. The builders, masons, etc. that rebuild and repair the old cities have been doing it forever they have learned to adapt to the ins and outs of the areas. I have seen some amazing stunts they have had to maneuver to get something done. The house is beautiful, it does have everything you need. With the price so low, adding a nice kitchen will be easy. Grazie Mille, tanto amore da N.Y.

Have to agree, this could be a good-sized apartment absolutely anywhere. Kind of spendy considering all the details that need attention...paint, appliances, kitchen cabinets, laundry etc., not to mention you need to furnish the entire place. Mountain views are spoken of, but I question if you'd even see them when seated. Looks as though it was "modernized" some time in the early 90s (more like post-modern with that fireplace).

If it had a kitchen installed, and if the upstairs bathroom had a shower, yes, I'd pay €169,000. But no more more than €130,000 as-is (leaving room for the bathroom and kitchen renos). Yes, I probably wouldn't pay that much on the renos, but I would still want that €40,000 budget just in case other issues came up. If the owners get the kitchen installed, a buyer might overlook the lack of a shower in the upstairs bathroom.

Definitely not my personal taste, but a good bit of redecorating could remedy that, just wondering if there is any space to install a lift - hauling groceries (not to mention furnishings) up to the top floor would be quite the workout for those of us "of a certain age".

Looks like a hard-sell to me, especially at that price. The town looks interesting. Would love to see more of that. The Church was impressive. Wonder how many people attend Mass on a Sunday. The "living" area is on the top floor? Imagine having to bring groceries up all those stairs. Who wants to spend time on an outdoor terrace with all the neighbors looking at you? This home seems charmless. The color scheme of the interior is awful. Most of the flooring would have to go. To make the place charming, a lot of work would be required, and more investment. Not sure it's worth it with all windows facing city streets. Maybe it looks better in-person.
