- I hopped in my car and drove to New York State to speak at the Southern Adirondack Homesteaders Festival. In the video, I talk about how small homesteading festivals have a place among the larger ones like Homesteaders of America.

I've been enjoying your videos and those of other Homesteaders for about 2 years. Now newly retired and about to embark on land purchase and developing a Homestead. Looking in Maine though the climate gives me some concern. Either way I wish there was one source that was a clearinghouse for all the regional events and happenings. Bringing the topic back to New England, I'm very thankful and appreciative of all that you share. Wishing you all the best.
I had no idea that this event took place. I have been to the Washington County fair before. I have also lived deep in the Adirondacks. I too am a homesteader in the northeast. I will send a contact message to discuss being a speaker at the HONE fall event. I could also speak at the Southern Adirondack event next year.

Oh man, I didn't know about this. I hope they do it again next year so I can get a more local approach instead of a lot of the more southern conferences
The thing we have to be most prepared for here is fire season every summer. People think of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest in general as being very rainy, and it is moderately rainy for 6-8 months of the year, but every summer, it basically stops raining completely in late May or early June, and doesn't really start up again until September, slowly. Every year people lose their homes, farms, livestock, and lives to wildfires. We are in a drought every year. But also, even just within this state, we have temperate rain forests, mountains, valleys/rivers, coastline, and high desert. The conditions can change drastically in a short distance. I live in the Willamette Valley, but I'm just an hour from the ocean, and we cross mountains to get there. I wish we had some good regional conferences here that address our unique challenges, but we don't, really.
Is there a calendar of sorts for events ? I'm in CT and Always learn of these homestead events after they're over
Where in new england would you suggest to look for properties for homsteading? closer to boston the better
