Rancour's good against most pure melee builds, their delayed movement and stagger creates a lot of opportunities for your own aggression or retreat. Only problem I see with it is its hybrid faith scaling, which doesn't really matter if you're only using it as utility
Honestly we faith/intelligence builds got it pretty good this time around. We got the sword of night and flame, a ton of utility spells, and the best staff scaling with the prince of death's staff. I mainly do it to have the best of both worlds though
In my opinion, if you're looking at just purely viability and combat effectiveness, none of the Necromancy or Gravity magic is good in PvP. The only necromancy worth casting in PvP is Fia's Mist, as a potential "death blight" build, because that cloud is massive when you charge cast it. Explosive Ghost Flame is also okay, but it's got so much endlag that you'll be easily punished for casting it.
