Yes! I am glad that someone else loves the older Voigtlander 28mm f/2.8 for Nikon as much as I do. I just took a look and was surprised how many of the photos on my wall (3) were taken with this lens. I picked one up in 2019 and took it on a month-long trip through SE Asia along with a Voigtlander 58mm f/1.4 and a Nikon FM3a. Such a wonderful travel combo.
I also have several framed photos taken with my Zeiss ZM 28mm f/2.8. A lens that I don’t think gets as much love as it deserves. People just point out it’s test chart and say it’s a weak lens, but it takes wonderful images.
I want to try the new Voigtlander 28mm f/2, but I haven’t bought any new lenses in over 3 years, and I am trying to really master the collection I have already.

Thanks Zach! Yes great lens. I use the SL on my Nikon film bodies too for a compact bombproof travel kit. I ordered the black 28/2.8 LTM for my black Barnack as that is as bombproof (no RF) and smaller. The f2 II is excellent if you eventually break your GAS fast :)

Thanks for the review. I do not have a 28mm for my Leica M rangefinder. If I ever feel the need for one, I will keep this video in mind.
I do have the following 28mm lenses:
    28mm f/2.8 Nikkor for Nikon F-mount SLRs
    28mm f/3.5 Nikkor for Nikon F-mount SLRs
28mm f/3.5 Pentax Takumar for Spotmatic SLRs
    28mm f/2.5 Vivitar for M42 mount SLRs
28mm f/2.8 Zeiss Biogon for Contax G1 rangefinders
28mm f/2 Zeiss Distagon for Nikon F-mount SLRs
I have been very satisfied with the images produced by all of them.
I tend to use them in the following kits:
    14/28/55mm on SLRs
    28/50/105mm on SLRs
    28/50/135mm on SLRs
    21/28/45/90mm on rangefinders

Be careful Matt. You are becoming a Voigtlander talking advert. I have tried them. They are way overpriced and no better than the AIS Nikons and FD Canons that I use on my M43 cameras. And certainly no better than the Leica/Panasonic lenses that are very affordable on the M43 and L mount. You should have taken more notice of what Peter Coulsen said.

The newer SLIIS 28mm f2.8 beats the AI-S 28mm f2.8 SIC comfortably IMHO. I can’t speak for M43 or L mount not my thing. The 28mm f2 Ultron II nudges all of the f2.8s though IMHO. Thanks for your thoughts Steve. I just rave about what I like. Some videos it might be cheap Chinese lenses like the TTA 50/0.95 or 28/5.6. Sometimes cheap vintage lenses, sometimes even cheap Lumix lenses but as I love properly made metal and glass RF lenses that normally brings me to Leica Voigtlander and Zeiss (for current production models). I have MANY Nikon AIS and other lenses as an ex-Nikon shooter so I know them. The 28 2.8 AIS is excellent but I will always use the SL version as it's half the size and the same performance. Don't worry, I do test these things mostly for myself so I know what I want to use. Hope that helps.
