If you enjoyed this, Toby answers even MORE questions that people are too afraid to ask blind people in the full length episode - link in the description to listen on Spotify! 🇳🇺
Had never heard of Toby before listening to this episode but what a great dude! I love his humour and how he doesn’t let his blindness take over his life. A really really great episode lads and big up Toby for being such a brilliant guest and person 😁
Damn what a nice guy. He has the perfect mix between comedy and education. I learnt a lot from him talking about his experiences and hardships he goes through.
I’m so so so grateful for all of my perfect sight and senses. I am grateful to this guy for being so brave - it can crush you being in his position. All the best to you mate. Keep it up.
He seems like a top guy, random guest to have on but actually one of the better guests recently. Get more people on that have mad stories and lives like this lad not just onlyfans girls 😂
Love that you complimented his hair, I can imagine it's difficult for your self confidence when you always imagine yourself so young. Genuinely good looking bloke.
There are probably so many questions to ask a blind person. Like how scary is it to lose your sight, or if someone is blind from birth how do you explain what a colour is or a figurine. Iy was nice to see Toby having fun and how he still remembers things. Thanks Happy Hour.
great idea, hes there voluntarily, and educating a lot of people. really good way to get talk about things that people a curious while keeping it respectful
I would love to see him providing awareness to people. He has a good sense of humour and really gives good insight (excuse the pun) into what it really is like. I feel like I empathise with a lot of his challenges now. Some of which I would never have considered.
I am also legally blind and I find listening about others' conditions. For instance I actually have less acuity than him but I see "more" than him, like I enjoy doing my hair or make up (albeit not perfectly, I'm sure). Or for example even though I obviously don't do details, especially from afar, but I do colours way more than sighted people I know, names an' all that. I SO can relate to the app thing, the second I download a new one everything goes out of whack and I have to relearn placement gain in the app drawer. Like in the supermarket when I've only just learned by heart where things are by heart and they only go and move things around AGAIN. I prefer football on TV as well, you cannot replace that crowd noise! I HATE scary movies for the same reason as well, the jump scares! And do NOT get us started on audio description: I don't care if she's wearing a red coat, tell me she has a knife in er hand and looks mad as hell!
My son lost his vision just before he turned 10 in 2020. We moved last year, and the one sad thing is that he would have loved having a view of the trains on the viaduct, but he never saw the view from our new house. He's coped surprisingly well loosing his vision, he's severally autistic so I wonder if the vision loss has helped with his sensory processing issues. I do worry about how to teach him things to help with independence as he gets older. Was interesting to hear from an older person with vision loss.
Eyes, man. They're both the best and worst sensory organ we possess. What he was saying about how much his eyes physically hurt from strain and dehydration, despite not even doing what their supposed to do. It's just one smegging thing after another with eyes isn't it! xD
While I do still think diary of a ceo is the top level podcast for insight, these type of episodes on happy hour/other pods are just as, if not more interesting 👏👏
I have watched a few films with my pal whos not got the best vision and i can honestly say that audio description makes me feel heavy awkward he finds it hilarious 😂😂
