    this video is a fantastic gift to the world - a fabulous demonstration of close to long forgotten craftsmanship = sensational.

      @goognamgoognw6637 6 лет назад +5

      Apisto Group, actually this is not a long forgotten craftmanship, he is using tons of power tools, the tool he tried to duplicate were originally made to perfection in the 18th century BY HAND WITH HAND TOOLS without any power tools.

    • @apistosig4173
      @apistosig4173 6 лет назад +4

      Granted & agreed but - he still knows how to get the job done even if he took some short-cuts - for me I think the end result speak for itself. I was recently in the workshop of a local wood-worker (Melbourne) and delighted in his hand-made wooden spoke shaves. Q: how long would a video have been if the entire construction was done by hand? You of course are right - I of course remain impressed ;-)

      @@goognamgoognw6637 True Goognam, but you must realize that if the 18th century craftsman had power tools they would have used them too.
      I think it is about the quality of the end product.
      The pride in doing the job right and the satisfaction you get from knowing you did your best, and end product was better than average.

    Nothing better than a man making his own exquisite hand tools.I have not seen better than this other than a bronze body ,which I am certain he would find easier to work than steel.

    Have you ever thought of using a straw to remove glue? You can push it in de corner on difficult places, it's very flexible, and afterwards you can blow out the glue. :-)

    유독 추운 올겨울 따뜻한 차로 손을 녹여가며 작업하시는 모습도 너무 인상적입니다^^
    제 작업실은 한파가 있을때는 견디기 어려운곳이라 요즘은 잠잠히 시기를 기다리고있는데 선생님 동영상보니 손이 건질건질 하네요~~

I truly enjoy your videos and look forward to any in the future.

    Nice! Are you using White oak for the base? I have blade material coming for my shoulder and rabbet plane builds. I won a nice group of well care for wooden hand planes recently and after sharpening the irons and tuning up the jack, jointer and two smoothing planes and then using them I was very impressed and now have the bug to build my own!!
