Whoohoo! Pretty happy with how this border turned out. And the best thing? Now the top is really finished. So I can start quilting it. Sooo exciting! xo Irene
Irene💜 you have make me believe, that i can do it AND i did it😮 i’am blown away in a nother world, where i dont have to follow a paper piecing patteren, all the time😊 Now i can make my own 😍 Thank you so much👏💜
It is your engineering mind that makes this so easy for you I think. I love math also but the angles and challenges that this presents I think is easier for you because of the type of quitting that you originally started off making. Because of the fact that I learned making traditional quilts it makes it more of a challenge for me to stop and refocus. I am definitely finding paper piecing more of an adventure than a dread than it used to be for me, thanks to you. This video definitely explains more about how to achieve what you are looking for using paper piecing. Thank you.
Thank you so much. Excellent tutorial. Desperately needed to know how to make a diamond in a triangle and your explanation was clear and concise. I can now start work on my border pattern.
So I wanted to let you know that I watched this video a few days ago and ended up making my own pattern and sewed it! I wish I could show you a picture! Thank you for this tutorial!
Your instruction is SOOO CLEAR and INSPIRING! I’m designing some rather complex curved FPP blocks and would luuuove to see procedures you think would be optimal for designs having both curved and straight lines. Thank you!!!🥰👏.
Hello from Toronto, Canada. Wow-very nice. I will have to watch your process of making the design a few more times to try to make a block without a pattern. It's enjoyable to watch it come together-even how you get over a few "bumps in the road"! Thanks.
Thank you! I wanted to make my own pattern, but couldn’t figure out the order to do the pieces in. Your explanation was very clear and now 8”I’m off to try!
@@Sugaridoo I found a pattern called Pickle Dish, downloaded it, realized it was paper piecing and there really were no directions, so I printed it and made one block for a friend. She makes a dish called "Pickle Dip" and everyone is always teasing her about it, but always asking her to make it. I had not paper pieced before, so it has been a real learning challenge for me. I watched your directions several times, thank you for that. I didn't have tea bag paper, so I used parchment paper. I'm quilting it today ;)
Dear Irene, thanks a lot for the wonderful video. Amazing how patient you are in explaining and showing every step in detail. The top is beautiful and I am looking forward how you are going to quilt it. Love every video you post and enjoying the Videos relaxing on the couch or while I am sewing on an own project. xoxo from Germany, Stephanie
Thank you so much! A bit scary to share my quilting, since I'm using this as a practice quilt for free motion quilting. But I'll share it no matter how it turns out 😄
Aww thanks! I'm a bit anxious sharing the quilting next week, since I'm using it as a practice quilt for free motion quilting Its not going to be perfect, but Ill share it anyway 😊
@@Sugaridoo That's the beauty of free motion quilting. It is perfectly imperfect. I'm still learning but so fun and once you wash it you never see the goof ups. As another of my favorite quilters says "Finished is better than perfect."
Love your passion! Love your planning! You are so talented! Enjoy your video very much! I'm so interested with your display board. If I want to make a display board like yours, what type of materials do I need? Wish you have a video showing how to build the display board.
Wonderful. Thank you. I’m making an improv quilt too, mine is based on your medallion shared quilts. Very loosely based. I’m having fun. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Irene, i love all of your tutorials! And at the Moment i am working on my alphabet , your instructions are very easy to follow. Thank you very much for all your Videos and templates. Have a good and healthy time. 💖
I love your improv quilting. You make it look so easy. I would love to try it but am afraid it would be a mess. I'd love to see another example from you!
You have some very interesting videos girl. I am watching this one and scrolling at the same time and saw another one of your videos called quilting bullet journal and I can't wait to see what that is.
Wow 😮 this is my first time watching you and I loved it!!! You made something so beautiful and made it look easy which I know it wasn’t at all!!! I wish I had your drive to do so much!!! Thank you for teaching this technique!!!!
You’re so cute, and I love your patterns. I am confused as to how you lay the fabrics as they relate to the tea bag pattern. The mirror imaging was difficult to understand with regards to how each piece lays under the pattern when you sew.
You really made a beautiful quilt ! Is this for your little son ? So nice ! And ty so much for showing us how we can make stuff on our own and be our own designers :-)
Beautiful quilt, I love your videos! I'm curious as to why you decided to foundation piece the border rather than free piecing it as you did the other blocks?
Hello - I love your tutorials - I’ve pieced a pattern designed by someone else but now I want to make my own design and your tutorial is so helpful - thank you. Where do you buy your tea bag paper? I can’t find it online. Thanks for all your helpful tutorials.
Hoi Irene, super video, bedankt. Ik probeer meer te leren over het maken van eigen patronen fpp met name digitaal.heb je misschien suggesties voor bepaalde software en tutorials? Zou graag een simpel portrait willen maken via fpp. Groetjes!
Great idea to share this! ...and great work in doing so. I would only suggest a darker drawing next time, since it doesn't show well on the computer, but you have probably noticed that already. Many people will benefit from your sharing this!
You are very clever! I have started an improv quilt after watching your channel. To account for your seam allowances, did you cut the fabric 1/4” bigger on each side? You may have mentioned up, but I didn’t catch it. Thanks!
She didn't mention it but yes the quarter inch was included. The yellow ruler is called an add a quarter ruler so when the fabric is ready to be cut off, it adds the seam allowance. HTH!
This is amazing! Thanks for explaining this technique and for all your wonderful videos. I have a question... how do you ensure your arrow placement is the same between the freezer paper and the teabag paper?
@@Sugaridoo Sorry that I was unclear. I watched you place the arrow on the freezer paper to figure out where the lines were going to go, then you cut it apart. After that you moved to the teabag paper and drew the box and arrow and cut it out, but how did you make sure your arrow was in the same place on both freezer paper and teabag paper? It seems like it needs to be the same but I didn't see you measure or use the freezer paper to figure it out, so wondering if it's necessary or how you did it. :)
In making a pattern for the corner block, you could have split the arrow in half, completed each half, then sewn them together. after you had sewn them to the quilt. You would just need to miter the border.... Just a thought. Also, what kind of paper are you using? What do you mean, 'working with Sugaridoo'? I'm interested, but Im is Texas, USA!
Hoi Irene, Ik wil graag jouw boek bestellen.
Thank you for this tutorial. Excellent as usual. Do you usually develop patterns this way, or do you use EQ8? I have just purchased the software but did like the free form system used on this improv quilt. Kind Regards AlisonX

It is an absolutely darling quilt. Very fresh and clever. Thanks for the foundation paper piecing lesson.
Excellent tutorial and a very clear explanation of your thought process. The pink lines on the screen really help. Thanks so much!
You broke this down in such an easy understandable way, Thank you!

Thank you very much for this wonderful tutorial. I can't wait to get started on a farmer's market banner. Lots of vegetables to make. Yum!

Such a fun border! It really adds to the whimsy of this quilt. Looking forward to seeing how the quilting enhances it too!
You did such a great job explaining how to simplify the pieces. It reminds me of working with stained glass. Thank you!
WOW, I really really really like how this came out. Love it!!!

thank you so much for teaching how to make your own pattern
Honey you lost me a long while ago but i still watched. Its fascinating.
