  • 5th video in the series. Today we are looking at my 40 gallon breeder tank that houses a colony of Blue Dream Neocaridina Shrimp and 6 Pygmy corydoras.
Up first, the Blue Dreams. These were the best of the best out of my 10 gallon colony. The breed about 90% true as of this video. I cull once a week, but have a hard time finding subpar shrimp!
Next, the Pygmy Corys. Love these guys, so much personality in a small package! They are new to the tank and the fishroom, but they seem to leave the shrimp alone. There will for sure be more in the future. I can't wait!

I love Pygmy corys. They get along great with my red cherry shrimp.

Love the way you do your tanks. They look dead natrual. You can tell your fish and shrimp feel comfortable.

    how is this tank doing?
i have a 20g with pygmy corys and just added some blue shrimp in. so i pretty much have the same exact setup you have.
are your pygmy corys and blue shrimp peacefully breeding???

Yes! They have both been doing exceptional. The cories have only bred a few times in the past year, and only a few have survived, but I am not doing anything special for the babies. I also added in a colony of Platinum Dumbo guppies to the tank.

Would the Pygmy corys try and eat baby shrimp? Any other fish you can recommend to put together with crystal red shrimp?

How do you feed your Pygmy cories, I haven’t found a videos on how to feed them, only what to feed them, I hardly ever see mines eat so I’m unsure if they’re eating, still alive for months though, so they must be eating something.

I feed these foods, as well as baby brine shrimp (live and frozen) a few times a week. Mine are very shy too!
