  • In this video, we are looking at my 10 gallon tank with nothing but Bloody Mary Shrimp!
I started this tank last June or July with 7 Shrimp, and its exploded in population since then.
These shrimp are different than cherry shrimp in lineage, but are the same species. Bloody Mary shrimp come from the chocolate neo line. They have a different hue of red than cherries.

Good point on the crypts to keep them shorter. I prefer them shorter especially in twenty gallon long One of my cat helpers has a cone around his head because of uti infection. Talk about an unhappy, sad looking cat.

    Again nice work man!
You can trim the moss with scissors, be careful to hold the bits you trim!

Thanks!! I just went in there and started ripping small pieces off every couple days, trying not to accidentally pull out any shrimp... lol

Sometimes it takes them a while to color up, if after a month they are dull, make sure to cull.

Beautiful tank! I have a question that I hope somebody can help me with. I have a 15 gallon planted cherry shrimp tank. It's very mature, all water parameters are perfect, all the shrimp are happy and breeding very well. However there is a lot of detritus toward the back of the tank, it looks really unsightly. How do I get rid of this without removing shrimplets? If the excess detritus won't harm the shrimplets, I'm happy to leave it, I'm sure the plants use it, but I do worry about it.

You could try adding some plants back there that would obscure the view of it, or just try to get in there with your hands and pull out what you can. Adding some more substrate over the top may be another idea..... probably best to get it out though.

What neo shrimp and endlers strains sell for top dollar? What neos and endlers do you recommend for breeding for profit in a 10 gallon?

Good quality red neos sell no matter what, but I believe a really dark blue neo would sell for more, just not as many sold as the reds.

What do you use for the substrate?

Almost every tank (including this one) have Eco Complete substrate. I love this stuff for plants, as it holds down roots very well. I use about 2 pounds per gallon for the best results. Thanks for watching!!
